for any store bought croissants, also several other types of similar pastries, if you put them in the oven or an air fryer if you have one at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for around 5-8 minutes it makes them so so much better and flaky instead of that weird grocery store croissant texture
@@angelika_munkastrap4634partly for my post graduate studies, mostly for my soon-to-be husband who is British! we met while he was in Singapore for work (where I’m from). felt like I was stagnating here and thought a change is what I need to grow 🌱
@@angelika_munkastrap4634 if you're curious about people moving countries, I moved to the UK from the US for six years. It was originally for grad school and then I married an EU citizen and we planned on staying permanently. This is because in my experience the UK is better than the US re: healthcare, working conditions, work/life balance, walkable cities, public transportation, and general quality of life. We've ended up stuck in the US for reasons beyond our control since lockdown, but we're working on getting back to either the UK or an EU country for all those reasons again.
"Too much buttercream!" Ordinarily as a card-carrying American guy I would scoff at your assertion but a memory from young adulthood springs up. I'm nine years older than my younger sister and when she was nine or so she found a can of pre-made buttercream cake frosting in the cupboard after school. Ignoring my warnings, she grabbed a spoon and dug in. Half an hour later she was noisily sick. I have to admit, I grinned. So yes, I am forced to agree that it is possible for there to be too much buttercream. In the right circumstances, of course!
My costco in the north has toffee loaf, caramel loaf, dinner rolls, cream scones, bakewell tarts, granola biscuit squares mini lemon meringue and mini apple crumble tarts. Also has all of what you tried. 🎉
costco muffins are life!!!!! the poppy seed used to be my favorite, the Bran muffins are also INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!! We grew up splitting then in half as kids :)
1) where is papa Booth for the bakery test ?? He started this series so should continue it !! 2) yes, the pastries from Costco are always a major let down :( 3) bread options differ I believe, up here in Leeds we have many different sourdough like Wholemeal, baguettes, loafs … 4) the fridged bakes seem to be soo much better than the other stuff, their cheesecakes are great and so is the peach and fruit tart they do in summer 5) their seasonal ranges are decent, Christmas is mince pies, Easter is fruit cakes and so on so on 6) PLEASE, PLEASE make this a whole Costco series .. we need like everything haha, ready meals, frozen items and single products would be great :)
An authentic Red Velvet will always be superior to a mere chocolate cake. The best ones are always made by someone's grandma for the church potluck. Traditionally, they are made with crushed pecans in the frosting and sometimes as a decoration for the top. I believe the next time you visit the USA, you should visit someplace like Charleston, NC or Savannah, Georgia or Fairhope, Alabama. Try some really delicious food cooked from the heart. Honestly, from seafood in Maine to BBQ in Texas; you should get out of the big, gross cities when you come over to the states and really experience the food that the smaller places have to offer. I am sure you and your family will be welcome anytime! Fun video. Big thumbs up!
@@mixelle_0 yesss Argentinian and Brazilian red velvet cakes just hit different! I can't stand the crap they call red velvet cakes here in the US.... Southern American ones are so superior
I really loved the addition of the text on screen :) and that the red velvet cake redeemed itself. It a red velvet is made "right" (meaning not just a faintly red colored chocolate cake), it can be SO good.
My husband came in while I was watching and I excitedly said, "She's in England and she's trying all the baked goods from her Costco!! 😍". The look of abject horror on his face was proof he knew that in the very near future his Costco-loving wife would be recreating it with baked goods from our Costco here in Michigan.
My favourite cake from Costco is the mini Victoria sponge. Comes in a pack of 6. It’s much less sweeter than the big cake and uses fresh cream. So so good! You must try it
Hi Grace, you know you can individually freeze your muffins from costco and they then last a month. When ever you want one ,it takes a our to thow or microwave it fi a minute 😊
I was brought one of those huge Birthday Cakes as a surprise gift. They went for vanilla sponge with chocolate buttercream, jam & chocolate icing. It was ridiculously good, I was really surprised! 😍
Pleas can you make a video using the Costco meal kits!! Some of them look really tasty and you are the most reliable recommendation giver / reviewer!! Xx
We dont have a Cosco in South Africa but it looks like quite a large supermarket that does products in bulk which would explain why the pastries like croissants are dry and stale. Possibly sat on the shelf for a while! Whereas a smaller shop is going to produce smaller batches more often as the get sold.
At our Costco (near Costco headquarters in Washington State) we get some great seasonal items. We LOVE the apple streusel muffins and my son's absolute favorite apple pie is the GIANT Costco apple pie with the lattice top and crunchy bits of sugar. At Thanksgiving, the pumpkin pies FLY out of the case!!! Theres a time-lapse video, somewhere of the pumpkin pies being stocked and quickly disapearing. Iconic! I've also enjoyed their peanut butter pie, but good Lord! That's something you bring to a party and cut small slices - it's huge and HEAVY! But delicious!! 🤤
I absolutely love the vanilla Costco cake and had no absolute idea they had that in the uk. I'm over in Canada and we recently had some for the holiday of Christmas last year. It just holds up and it's incredibly delicious you got to let that thaw out so it's not frozen or cold and once its room temperature all the flavors just Mary and it's so delicious
The plain vanilla birthday cake is always the best for me! It’s always so SOFT and moist! The carrot cake is also elite! But I think the WHITE chocolate cookie is by far the best IMO. I just took 2 packs to a family gathering and the white chocolate went first on my rec because people sleep on them! Anyway love the Costco series 🎉
No Costco near me-I’m about an hour away from Bordeaux. But I love your Costco content! I also love that you share your treats with people. I’m a baker and I love sharing with my neighbors. I’ve introduced them to many American treats…some they love and some they don’t!
I was gonna buy the carrot cake muffins today and distribute it for my birthday but I’m glad I didn’t ! Thank you so much, this video is very informative.
Thanks for doing the review, Grace. I have not tried the Kirkland items you had except for the round chocolate cake, and I agree with your review. Have you tried the Kirkland cheesecake? Personally, I like it, but curious about your thoughts. Thanks! 🥰

Costco in Glasgow have had sesame bagels for a while. They also do lemon and sticky toffee loaf cakes! I would like to see you trying some of the meals like lasagne, chicken taco kits etc

I actually quite enjoy the muffins. Usually I buy the choc chip and latte/walnut ones. Occasionally, the blueberry ones. They have a good texture and are better than typical supermarket versions. Also, I find the muffins less intimidating than the giant cakes, easier to cut into small pieces and keep for later. I find the big cakes just too big.
