A legend of a film, that should be known even more, and receive more credits for its dynamics. Such an amazing storyline, characters, soundtrack and led by two legendary actors, Denzel Washington and Russel Crowe who brought so much emotion, and action to it. What makes the film even greater is the many lessons and lines that are brought up, and what's even greater is how it's based on a true story. Honestly, worth watching no matter what. Had watched this on my birthday years back, and really an unforgettable film, that till this day I have never forgotten about. Don't want to spoil much, but its a must-see. 4.19.2020

But he wasn't sent home. He kept working for Frank's brother. That same dude ended up shooting his girlfriend and got in trouble with the police and then he snitched on them to get less time. That's how Frank ended up getting caught.

This is one of those scenes where Denzel’s character can be analyzed all over the place. I have to watch this movie again…but I think he wanted things more low key to not cause any suspicions and just hated the whole childish attitude in general. The part where he yanks off the guys sunglasses for wearing sunglasses indoors just really shows his hatred towards just being kinda dumb. It is a party yet he has zero tolerance…and he happens to be a badass. The point where the super EGO guys says”…heck I’m good even on a bad day”…he brings his ego down by basically saying you really think you are that smart then why choose a bad day. …and then mentioning how to properly clean wine off the floor…perfection
A little know that the scene with shooting with the pistol and the piano was a pure improvisation from Denzel and guys when they tried to shot it at least 10 times. But the director loved it so much, so he decided to leave it in the final cut.
To be a good person, you have to know how to be a bad person. In order to do good in the world, you have to have done some bad, this way you can truly walk with your head held high. Denzel is a monster, but he's a monster who is in control of himself.

This movie was a perfect example why you never allow family members to help run a illegal drug operation.. he would’ve been better off hiring guys off the streets that didn’t know shit about how the drugs were getting into the U.S in the first place…
Blood means more loyalty, everybody knows that, that's why Frank Lucas had his 5 brothers as his lieutenants. It's similar with childhood friends. There's no guarantee random guys aren't worse fuck ups, but also harder to control and potential rats. Lucas probably could have never built his drug empire, if he couldn't rely on the loyalty of those around him.
