This is called giving somebody an opportunity. The craziest part of it is that all of it is a lesson that will change Miles' life for the better. This scene does a few things that makes it perfect. 1) Bob offers Miles an opportunity to make some money that doesn't involve endangering his life and makes use of the talents he is gifted with. 2) Bob teaches Miles that you should never leave a job to somebody else when everyone else is also just waiting for somebody else to do it. Taking initiative opens up more possibilities. 3) Bob says he will only pay him if he goes to school first. He needs to get his education to have opportunities in his future. Everyone wins. 4) Bob shows that sometimes you have to compromise on a price to ensure the money for that job goes to you. Miles comes back with a lower price to which Bob agrees to.
The world needs more people like McCall when it comes to people in situations like this. A person who looks out for the youngin’s. A person who does/tries to keep them out of trouble instead of pushing them into it and or just stand idly by and do nothing.
A great movie is a movie that has two or three movies playing within it. I love the way he disciples this young man and helps direct his life in the right direction. I also like the beginning of this clip when the guy looks at Mr McCall and says you better find out who did this and he looks at him like why don't you do something.
This is the same kid who freaked out when he met Denzel Washington on the red carpet. Told Denzel he was gonna be doing a movie with him soon and he was not wrong🔥🔥
A few moments later: "Man ain't spelled g-u-n, son. You got a choice. You got talent. You got a chance, and I don't want to hear 'bout your environment, what your momma didn't give you and the white man won't give you no shot. You got a chance. Use it while you're still alive. You don't know what death is. You have no idea what death is. Make a decision."
@@Reb0rnLP You are not going to walk into the den of some street gang, make threats, then walk out clean like nothing happened. Both he and that young man would have to vacate the city. And no black kid is as naive as the kid in this movie. Real life aint this Lean on Me movie bullshit.
@@Reb0rnLP Also if this kid has a real talent to paint, leaders of this gang would be giving him money and support. He wouldn't need this speech in the first place. This is why I hate these movies. Ignorant people watch it and really think this is how it goes down.
Yup. This is how you help kids. I got close to kids by mentoring them. My best friend had a horse arena and I gave free dance class in our low income neighborhood. We kept the gangs out and loved "our" kids. I still have a few of them. Friend did, too untill she passed away.
If you enjoyed the equalizer you'd really appreciate "Man on fire." Which also has Denzel Washington, and the great Dakotah fanning. A beautiful allegory of absolution through retribution.
His character in the first movie was completely different from the sequence. In the first one he was like a soft spoken cold killer with sense of justice, kind of classy and cult too. In the sequence, he's like a grandpa from the hood which is good at fighting.
I think he was just trying to show him that doing the right thing isn't always gonna have the results you initially wanted, not always gonna have a big payout.
Having a father in your life that's invisible is same as having one that is dead, his existence has no positive impact on your life. I wish i had a father like Denzil Washington or any other father figure family man, but circumstances change and not everything is butterflies and rainbows.
It's people who don't stand for their community. As in no matter who you are or what you are, you help out your fellow man in the community. No matter the background.
Wow it's crazy how in the end that "McCall saves Miles and fights Dave on top of a tower before stabbing and slicing him, and then throwing him off the tower. McCall gets Miles home safely, and he returns to his old house that he shared with his late wife."
Wonder what the plot will be for Equalizer 3, which is supposed to come this September. I feel as if Miles will make a return into the movie for some purpose.
This always stuck with me but in the beginning of this clip you can see one of the camera men over the ledge as Denzel walks down the path into the garden. There’s also another time in the movie that this happens lol
