Wow! Thaty's pretty cool Seth! You'll need to get yourself a turn table or lazy susan to help rotate the models smoothly. I wonder how it would handle a clear (lucite) table so you can capture the bottom of the model too?? I would be interested in seeing how things actually print out after the scanning process is done. This device seems to do a really good job. It's a bit pricey for my blood, but if I had a commercial application for it, I would definately consider it. Hopefully, the price will come down a bit after they start selling more of those. Thanks for sharing!
Would you be able to scan a large object with it as well? Like scan your real car outsite, scale it down, and for example 3D print it at 1:87 of the size, to use it at a model railroad.
Yea, I wouldn't mind seeing some printed ones afterwards. This is really interesting stuff. I knew that these things were around, but I didn't think they were this good now... I'm not surprised with all of these new AI apps coming out and so on... By the time we learn new tools and software, it seems as though they're already outdated and there's something new, better, cheaper, etc... What a time to be alive. lol I bet you can combine this process with an AI software to autocorrect imperfections the scanner might have trouble with... Thoughts?
I have a few videos in mind that will show the print after a scan. I think the software for the pc with the Vega can do corrections like that. Fix holes in a model.

Did you have the latest firmware update installed? I thought they added a better feature for it to read black surfaces?
