I’m watching this in awe, happiness, pure joy and wonder!❤️🎶❤️🎶❤️ Quincy Jones was and will always be the Ambassador of love, music, unity and peace!!! May you always rest in the Melody!🎶🎶🎶🎶
Come on Baba Quincy Black American Bandleader with - a mixed band - women musicians - no suits and ties for the band Italian Knits - traveling internationally - AND it was recorded in 1961!!!!? You. Are. The. G
An absolute loss of a legend. No one will ever do what he did- the breadth and depth of his work and in so many different roles and genres. Breaking racial lines and overcoming poverty too. He was a total gift to us all and his legacy will live on
My favorite part of this video is Clark Terry's playing, but objectively the most unique part of this band for this era was probably the women players on trombone and piano. Petty Bown should be better known. There aren't many pianists who have based their style on Count Basie, and she does it so beautifully.
Is that a young Clark Terry on Moanin'?? Can't recognize other musicians. Oh, a really young Phil Woods... holy cow....Melba Liston, an underrated all-round musicuan. What a great group! Fantastic video. This might be his Masters or Doc. Thesis!!
@@ebjazz93 NO, didn’t recognize him. Everyone is so GD young! But , boy is he great. Do you know the pianist? Wish they had a lineup. What a tight band !! Thanks for sharing.
R.I.P. Mr. Quincy Jones, will be a big party up there (in what ever you believe in) and then you'll looking down with all your great musician friends from the past with your achievements :) Besides love the studio settings and camera work of the 60´s !
Julius Watkins at his most powerful on this tour. Shortly after he would enter the most difficult period of his life, and emerge a new creative force and wonderful teacher.

Is this the band he took to Europe and went bust? Really sad , but Q decided to stay in France and study composing, arranging, etc. For 2 years. When he came home, he was ready to 'diversity ' and do a lot of writing. The master. Be well , Q. 💜
Excellent orchestra band showtime from Belgium back in 1961. Rest in Melody Mr. Quincy Jones (1933-2024) and thank you for the music and memories.
Thank you

I saw this band live in St. Gallen in Switzerland in 1961. They played all these numbers there as well. It’s great to see them again now.
