I saw this beautiful Jewel play live in a small venue in L.A. Seeing her live is sooo much more intense. Her energy comes thru your bones. After she was signing autographs but I requested a hug instead. What an amazing hug! The love of all Mothers came thru her!!! You guys we need to stop being afraid to hug each other. We need hugs to heal each other.
you are so lucky, which venue was it at ?
Beautiful. For those interested, a lot of the music she is performing is in praise of the Prophet Muhammed. 'Salallahu 'ala an - nabi' means 'Praise be upon the Prophet.' 'Salallahu 'ala Muhammed' means 'praise be upon Muhammed.'
thank you so much for translating, although, i'm sure my soul had already understood...peace to you, my brother...
How beautiful is it to listen to Queen Khaira Arby's beautiful voice..we we're honoured to have opened up for her and her amazing band hear in Philly another what great experience..great fellowship I'll always cherish.
In 2009 while walking down a street in Timbuktu a young man was playing her CD. He seen the smile on my face as I listen to the music. I brought the CD from the young man, he said our music and said to yes it is our music. I have been listening to her ever since.
This is beautiful, no translation necessary.
Queen of the desert indeed, she is sorely missed 🙏👸🏾
This is music of immense beauty from a woman who has shown as great courage as any artist in pursuing the production of her art. It is truly an honor to be able to participate, even remotely, in these wonderful performances. This is music from one of the great centers of musical creativity today. It’s a shame that Arby’s country is currently so rent with violence and danger, but she has continued to share and spread the great beauty of the music of Mali, nevertheless. Thanks to Khaira Arby and to NPR for this beautiful recording.
Shes was the only queen who résist face To face against djihadist in tumbuktu.. Rip.
Pure spirit and heart, wonderful and so uplifting.
RIP Khaira Arby

allah ka da yoro sumaya!!!!
excelente!!!
This took me a little while to get into because I did not understand the words and yet I am a big fan of various kinds of African music, but after some time I found myself seduced by the rhythms and her singing.
that must be horrible to be unsettled by music you don't understand the words to. Is it because you're so used to listen only to english music ? Anyway, it reminds me of two albums that Peter Gabriel performed in german for this express purpose : To let english speakers enjoy music without understanding the words. (if you're interested, one of them is called ein deutch album, and i can't remember the name of the other). Anyway, you should try to listen to other musics besides the english ones, you could be pleasantly surprised :)
WOW!
jah bless
اللهم صل وسلم على سيدنا محمد
والله ال اسكي
الله يعطيك الرحمة والغفران وجنة الرضوان

You need to educate yourself and learn the difference between Islamists and Muslims before you leave comments and make yourself look like an ignorant fool. Are you contesting the fact that the Islamists in Mali destroyed her instruments and threatened to cut her tongue out if she sang again?
Are you saying that the Islamists who ran Afghanistan supported art and music for all religions? Have you heard what they did to the Buddhas of Bamiyan or the ancient mausolea and shrines in Timbuktu?
Go away? What kind of an ignorant comment is that sir?
Are you contesting the fact that the Islamists destroyed her instruments and threatened to cut her tongue out if she sings again?
Are you contesting the fact that Islamist rule brings darkness and misery? (no singing, no dancing, no arts, etc)
Get your facts straight before you come in here spouting off ignorant comments.
The really sad thing is the Islamists have destroyed her instruments and banned her music. If she performs in her home of Mali again, they threatened to cut her tongue out.
At what point is this world going to wake up to Islam, take a stand, and fight them.
Fight them to extinction or face a thousand years of darkness.
