This is by far one of the Largest Mines we have ever explored and the stopes ( Cavities ) are massive chambers filled with square set timbering.....I have never seen anything like this. This mine is Famous for having " The Zig Zag Ladder of Death " and my wife decides to climb it to the tope of a very large stope. I think she's crazy but it looks like a lot of fun so Let us know if you would climb that ladder by leaving a comment below. And Yeah .....you're gonna get wet .
I would definitely climb the ladder but idk if I can do tight spaces that I feel stuck! It gives me that feeling you get when your sock has bunched up in your shoe and it just makes you even more uncomfortable. 😆 or a spot on your back you can't itch!! lol
Hi Jeff pretty amazing how they built those mines, so much hard work i can't even imagine. Just getting the timbers to the mine is huge. Then dropping them into the mine and building those amazing square sets using candle light, just mind boggling!! Are you ever worried about getting lost in there? And I don't know about that ladder, looks so sketchy. I'm moving back to AZ soon and can't wait to find some more AU. Also I will be signing up as a premium patron once I get there. Watch out for those big monkers and tell Slim to get back to work :)
At the 41:26-minute mark watching you help your wife up that crazy ladder put a smile on my face! Your patience, care and positive voice is awesome to see/hear. You can tell hearing your voice gave her the confidence to achieve something awesome, very cool.
Oh hell no! The only way this old man will ever explore mine shafts like that will be through the camera lenses of Jeff and his crew. Amazing video Jeff. Also amazingly dangerous.
Was an amazing trip with some awesome people! So grateful to be ask to come along. Nothing like seeing old Mining history and techniques. Thanks Jeff keep that dream alive. "Reminder: the stunts in this video were performed by professionals, so for your safety and the protection of those around you, do not attempt any of the stunts you have just seen."
Amazing adventure you took me on today! Who needs a gym when you do all of that? Unbelievable engineering and woodwork, can’t imagine having to put that all together! She’s braver than me….climbing that ladder!Another awesome video Jeff…C’ mon ….Let’s….Goooooo!!!!
All that timbering is old growth, getting rare to find, worth a pretty penny these days. This square set is a museum on to itself. Thanks for the video, the explore!
Good job Sunny Jim....Was holding my breath while you all were in that raddedy mine ....So not safe looking..BUT I did enjoy the video.....So glad you all are ok.....weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.......................JB......
Big mine and great square sets. When the sets tumble they really come down in a pile. The candle pick marks were cool. Thanks for the fun tour Jeff and company.
JEFF, you are such a kind and gentle man. With everyone you speak to. The attentiveness and gentle way you have with your wife is beautiful. She is very blessed woman to have such a man. I actually believe anyone in your life is blessed to have you in it. I enjoy your videos and the knowledge you share. Thank you for sharing a part of your life with us. I'm even feeling blessed to know you myself! 🕊💕📿🕯
What a great video, so much climbing, and impressed with the timbering! What a mine! Jeff, why no more Slim? I thought he was your bud! You have fantastic videos. Thanks again! One day I hope you wake Slim up and get him back in your videos!
Jeff, aside from the absolutely incredible square sets in this mine, I really enjoyed your explanations of the geology of the mine. That’s what makes your different from so many of the other mine explorers out there.
Wow,...this was like the game Chutes & Ladders!!!! Very cool mine....and you all look & seem like you have a lot of fun!! Thanks so much for sharing,...I enjoy watching!!!
@@joannehart9624 Hey! Glad to see you're "back" in action! I figured we'd need at least 2-3 days to thoroughly get it all knocked out. Wouldn't be the first over nighter we've done underground lol.
Great video. I would like to see more videos and show us more of what they are mining. If I go into a mine, it's not to explore as it is for the shiny may it be gold, silver, copper or whatever.
Big balls to get into those galleries, I really admire the courage that you and your colleagues have. I have been following you for years and I always learn something new thanks to the kindness you have in sharing your knowledge, eternal thanks from Patagonia Argentina, here you are a great brother, God bless you and take care of you. First comment. Jeff this was really cool. What an adventure. Your wife is great. My wife and I were Spelunkers years ago. Like said elsewhere, you'll need to return and complete the geology lesson. Thanks again.
Your knowledge of geology and mining impresses me every time I watch one of your videos. That is only surpassed by your ability to make me laugh. Bravo for both skills!
You guys are crazy! Amazing square set timbering and ladder! It blows my mind that you can find your way back out of these mines, they seem very complex to me.
Just amazing. The inverted ladder, the magnitude of timbers sets in massive chambers held by pressure. What a remarkable video. Thank you, can't say enough.
Like I tell my kids, everybody's cut out to do something special. Some are truck drivers, some, long-distance swimmers, etc. And some do some super crazy stuff like you guys! Personally I get the heebie-jeebies watching you guys go deeper and deeper. Thanks for taking us on your adventures Jeff and Lila.
This has been a special one. Wow. I’ve been enjoying it a piece at a time. Like a really good book you don’t want to end. The amount of effort to get all that wood down into the mind and work it into place. The sounds great f all that work down there must have been loud. Thanks for taking us along!
Appreciate the continued tours and analysis of this one Jeff, especially keeping the name and other details obscured, a real shame that's a necessity. You all took much better video here than I ever have - modern lighting makes it far, far easier. Joanne has more hours down this hole than just about anyone else in the current era that I'm personally aware of. Still's got forgotten secrets tucked away for those intrepid, rope bearing souls who're willing to sacrifice a few slices of their pulmonary health. Incredible, but woeful history. Thanks for sharing!

Holy smokes!!! Jeff that mine looks so sketchy! Man those header beams at 34:24 section are barely, I mean barely overlapping the vertical posts. No way I could do it
Loved your Wife's perspective of climbing the ladder out. Really reminds me of the difficulties you all face in your explorations. It is not all just skipping about down the mine rails. Much Appreciated, Enjoy!
