Definitely an old-school Against the Odds for this age... Rooting the Triplets made watching this feel like a movie! As far as the viability of Sen Triplets goes, I think that you could have gone further in the "bounce your stuff" direction and cut down on the other "steal your stuff" cards like Nightveil Spectre, Thief of Sanity, and Hostage Taker. That way you might be able to force the game to go longer so that casting Sen Triplets while your opponent has cards in hand becomes less of an impossibility 😅 Thanks for the video!
IMO Gonti should get cut before Hostage Taker. This deck is really starving for removal, even if it's temporary, and the chance to permanently steal stuff is very powerful. Also, I think this deck should go the valuetown route and play Heartless Summoning.

Best way to get into play would probably be Whir of Invention on the opponent's end step. Esper artifact prison might be the deck for it. If you can lock your opponent out, they'll still have a bunch of cards in hand too.

Probably reads smth like: *Cruel Inquisitor* (BR) Creature - Human Minion Haste Whenever Cruel Inquisitor deals combat damage to a player, that player reveals their hand. You choose a nonland card from it. Exile that card. During your turn, if an opponent lost life this turn, you may cast that card and you may spend mana as though it were mana of any color to cast that spell. 2/2 Maybe it should cost 1 more and have Menace, maybe the exact wording on the casting condition needs changed, and maybe this lacking Sen Triplets' "that player can't cast spells or activate abilities" means it's too out of the spirit of Sen Triplets, but at two mana this seems about as strong as you can let it be

I love sen triplets so much probably one of my favorite cards. I think this one probably shoulda been mono ramp into sen triplets and tutors for sen triplets with like snow lands and astrolabes to filter for esper and such and maybe some nmemonic betrayals.
As a Sen Triplets commander main, you did us proud, Seth. You did all you honestly could. I don’t even think Sen Triplets would be good in a slower format like Standard. These girls are strictly for commander, sadly.
I'm not gonna lie, when I saw the thumbnail my first thought was: Criiiiiiim! What did you do now!! Also, against tron, why not countering ballista and flash in the flyer with Adventure to kill karn? and why not damping sphere from the sideboard? damping sphere doesn't let lands to produce more that 1 mana at a time. Is there something I'm missing?
Against Eldrazi Tron dampening sphere is not really helpful. The deck generally doesn’t get tron a high percentage of time so it is generally worse than a removal spell.

My opponent is running 4 Wilderness reclamation out of 60 so I shouldn't sideboard against it with cindervines and other naturalizes? If a card is powerful enough and is a centralized part of your opponents strategy, you should be trying to sideboard against it unless its costing you critical pieces of how your deck functions...... and seth is literally playing just a pile of stuff, that's the point of against the odds.
I was super confused about the ballista/brazen borrower thing. He scooped when he would have had a brazen borrower in play and they would have had nothing except the mind stone.
neat edh deck! i wonder if this would have been better with an artifact theme rather than the extra steal-y stuff. aether spellbomb and etherium sculptor and emry and such. i think the problem would end up being that sen triplets wouldn't serve a purpose, unfortunately they're really not a buildaround.
I like where this started, but I think your thief cards could be better. Namely, hostage taker works really well with Gonti, forcing 2 for 1s. That causes tempo in your favor, which works better with the bounce, as if your opponent lacks creatures, bouncing those to reapply pressure hurts. Also fixes the needing your opponent's mana if you get rid of nightveil specter. Except for Sen Triplets, but you get the idea.
This seems like a worse version of the mnemonic betrayal deck. I think Sen Tripletts could work in a Tezzeret artifact deck. You can have Shimmer Myr to give ST and your other artifacts flash. You can use Tez: Schemer to help pay for her and Tez: Agent of Bolas to find her.
It wasn't until we stole that reflector mage that I realized it would be perfect in this deck. Keeps the card in OPP's hand and they can't cast it the next turn.
i probably would have skipped the other creatures and relied on snapcasters, bounce, and counterspells, and as janky as it is, i would have run the full 4 silence. maybe a 3feri or two to help keep their stuff off the battlefield. so rad to see you try such a difficult card, though!
Mana Confluence could be worth considering. My main worry is that we already tend to get run over by aggro so having to take a damage time we tap it ends up being pretty painful.
I feel like maybe an Artifact subtheme, both to help ramp into triplets + also with finishers like Tezzeret's and stuff may help it, but otherwise I agree Seth, its a hard sell for modern
The vivid lands is not just for his mana base but for whatever the opponent has in hand. Triplets requires the exact mana cost and not any color like some cards.
Honestly, Seth, I really want to just see like, Esper Gonti Flicker. Gonti is like, my favorite commander and I just want to see more of him Also, you should've either run Chromatic Lantern, Celestial Dawn, or (I forget if it's out yet), Chromatic Orrery
What about a deck with 4 boomerangs and 4 eye of nowhere and you just spend the first few turns bouncing their lands? Wipe Away? And how about some mana rocks like Chromatic Lantern and Coalition Relic to help get Sen Triplets out a turn faster? What about Silence during people's upkeep?
Seth, I think you went the wrong direction with this deck. I think you should do a bounce tribal with sen triplets as a two of and chromatic lanterns to ramp + fix the deck. Also, with little Teferi... But I still wanna see a AtO with Uba Mask + Drannith Magister in a Karma, GC shell. Make it happen!
I think I like jtm better than venser cuz it can bounce creatures look at the top of there deck for specters and with all the fetched you can always do the brainstorm value I'm so good at the game plan
I think the problem with this deck isn't the triplets themselves, they're a perfectly serviceable control finisher - it's that the other thieves are just not very good. I know that just building esper control is against the spirit of against the odds, but I don't think its a fair assessment to blame the triplets
i play wiered format where sen triples seem to be a close to perfect card. i had them in my deck a long time. i think i have casted them about 20 times, i have not cast a single spell with them. pretty unimaginable what people are willing to pull of to remove them. sometimes they paid for themselves because ops went to incredible amount of resources to deal with them

It is difficult to control the board when your opponent is double-spelling every turn because you are drawing them cards.
