I feel that stitcher's supplier is suboptimal on the deck, while you can reuse the gravecrawler, the main focus of the deck can be milled and lost, maybe a Lazotep Reaver would do the job better? 2 black zombie bodies for a card feels decent for the 9/9 plan, the crypt breaker and torgaar... also helps possible chalice loses.
True, but not as useful in the long term value aspect of the deck. I think it would make a fine 1-2 of in the deck, but it is undeniably worse in grindy matchups in which constantly recurring a board full of corpsecrawlers is enough to win the game.
Lazotep Reaver does seem good. It works just like two one-drops with a combo. I do like Stitcher's Supplier though. It often generates card advantage by milling stuff we can cast or put into play from our graveyard, and I'm not especially worried about milling stuff we want since it's random.
Hey Seth have you thought about maybe Plague Belcher instead of Torragar? It's smaller as a 5/4 but it has menace so it's harder for it to be chumped by plebs and the draw back is essentially sac 1 creature it also gives you a way to go over the top with the Carrion Feeder Grave Crawler Combo.
I think this could be R/B, artifact destruction in the SB from Red. Then you can play Assault Strobe. Also should try Tainted Strike. Reminds me of when Scars first came out.
I sorta agree about Astrolabe being a bad thing, but heir mana base is all snow lands, so they could use shocks, so while it is not ideal that astrolabe is so surprisingly effective, you could, when in doubt simply play Freyalise's Radiance for the occasional giggle.
Thoughts on the upcoming Scourge of Nel Toth? I've put together something almost identical, but hadn't ever seen Demon of Death's Gate. Very cool old gem.
Scourge of Nel Toth is a reprint from from Commander 2015 (the Meren deck specifically) and neither that printing nor the Jumpstart printing are putting Scourge into Modern.
Maybe scooping a little early? Against Amulet opponent, probably hold the last Cryptbreaker rather than run out into Engineered Explosives. We didn't know they had it, but the 1 point of damage on the next attack probably wouldn't matter, and if they had a way to deal with your board you would have it in hand to start playing Gravecrawlers again. Also, scooping immediately to the Valakut and Primeval? You should at least see what they're going to try to kill with the triggers. It's possible you could have grown Carrion Feeder out of range to be burned out on the ETB. Then you could keep growing your Feeder on your next turn with your Gravecrawler, and if you draw a Victim of Night, you remove their Dryad and make them chump with their Titan to prevent taking lethal.
Also, why are we scooping when we see Qasali Ambusher off their Collected Company? I understand it would block the Demon and not enough trample damage would get through, but why not at least go to our turn to give us a chance to draw Victim of Night before scooping?! This deck is so cool, but please give yourself a chance to play to your outs, even when it seems unlikely. (You beat Chalice for 1 for goodness sakes! :) )
I almost feel like this deck could make use of the suicide black life loss idea with some Death's Shadows. Getting to turn 3 and going, pay 4 life Dismember blocker, attack, sac 3, pay 6 life, make Demon of Death's Gate, pay 1 drop Death's Shadow, seems pretty strong. Idk if that fits in the budget or not however.
I'm confused about why you conceded at 18:53. Even if your opponent kills Regisaur, you sac it to but a counter on Feeder, and now Feeder is a lethal threat. Next turn they are forced to chump block, but it turns off Valakut. If you top deck Damping Sphere, you're absolutely fine?
The deck just seems to be missing a wide board pump. Don't get me wrong; the demons and Regi are amazing but there's incentive to pay to get sacced stuff back anyway, plus one can put off playing the demon if the pump would either win the game on the spot or create a two-turn clock; alternatively there's even reason for having the option to pitch either a demon or the pump from hand with Rotting Regisaur if it came to it depending on which way the game was leaning towards. Regardless: whaaat a sick deck. Love it!

Game 1 against cats, you were one point off of the win. You swing with the team, they block a 7 power creature with the germ and take 7 from the other one, going +1 on life to 9. Birds soaks 2 damage from Bloodsoaked or Gravecrawler, and 2 more gets in, putting them to 7. Reach dude blocks 3 from demon, and they take 6 to 1. Very unfortunate, probably worth playing out just to see if they realized that they needed to block a ground creature with Birds in order to live. The line isn't obvious if you don't do the math.
amulet OP made some sequence mistakes that could have probably got them the win round 2 :3 if they had (on turn 3) picked up the ghost quarter instead of the vesuva theydve had titan mana turn 4. or turn 4 tap for 5 (both bounce + the GQ) then vesuva a bounce to pick up the GQ and replay it with azusa that'd have also gotten them to 6 for titan
Every time I hear someone complain about astrolabe it annoys me so much. I remember you passing aside it's banning in pauper as well it's just pauper. Literally we were ringing the bell about its problematic gameplay and no one would listen
I notice the budgetless version of this deck doesn't splash any colors to deal with Chalice, like you mentioned in your games. Is that an oversight, or are you confident that you can beat Chalice after that remarkable victory here? lol
In game 2 against amulet titan, you still could have won or forced your opponent to block with their titan by sacrificing and recasting Grave Crawler twice, then attacking with Rotting Regisaur and Carrion feeder. He would be forced to block with his titan or lose the game. :) Valakut is five or more other mountains, so even if he fetched two mountains, it wouldn't trigger Valakut.
Specifically, Peacekeeper is a prison card, which if you've ever witnessed Seth's abiding love for Blood Moon, Ensnaring Bridge, infinite-lock-combos, etc, should make perfect sense.
It's Peacekeeper from Visions. It's basically a prison creature (a two-drop that makes it so creatures can't attack), it's basically a homage to my love of prison strategies and lock decks (even though it isn't played anywhere at this point - a long time ago there were some Legacy decks that used it).

Missed the opportunity to call this "Speed Demons"
Game 1 against cats, you were one point off of the win. You swing with the team, they block a 7 power creature with the germ and take 7 from the other one, going +1 on life to 9. Birds soaks 2 damage from Bloodsoaked or Gravecrawler, and 2 more gets in, putting them to 7. Reach dude blocks 3 from demon, and they take 6 to 1. Very unfortunate, probably worth playing out just to see if they realized that they needed to block a ground creature with Birds in order to live. The line isn't obvious if you don't do the math.
12:45 i thought modern was supposed to be a turn 4 format...
Where is tainted strike I think +1+0 infect?
Ohh, that could be spicy :)
@@MTGGoldfish yep kill turn 3 lol the dinosaur need vampire bite and tainted strike less strong.
Qasali Ambusher got the full tilt out of Seth :)
thats really cool =)
Why didn't you play bloooded soaked champion throught the chaleci anyway? He has raid+reanimation
We did eventually.
AtheistForCastiel now believes in the deity that is SETH...
... probably better known as SaffronOlive.
Throne of Geth counter chalice pretty well.
amulet OP made some sequence mistakes that could have probably got them the win round 2 :3 if they had (on turn 3) picked up the ghost quarter instead of the vesuva theydve had titan mana turn 4. or turn 4 tap for 5 (both bounce + the GQ) then vesuva a bounce to pick up the GQ and replay it with azusa that'd have also gotten them to 6 for titan
I think adding 2 Westvale abbey could be the nuts
You need 6 lands in play to activate it, not sure about that.
Be that as it may, still a possibility.
Yeah, that sounds like a good plan. I'll probably add at least one next time I play the deck.
*Duress* or *Inquisition of Kozilek* should be main if this is a Modern build...
Every time I hear someone complain about astrolabe it annoys me so much. I remember you passing aside it's banning in pauper as well it's just pauper. Literally we were ringing the bell about its problematic gameplay and no one would listen
But modern is serious magic.
The triple duress vs leyline is intense
How good do you think Fiend Artisan would perform in this deck?
I notice the budgetless version of this deck doesn't splash any colors to deal with Chalice, like you mentioned in your games. Is that an oversight, or are you confident that you can beat Chalice after that remarkable victory here? lol
Me and the bois not bringing in damping sphere against tron, the deck it was literally made to beat
24:28 i hear you xD
In game 2 against amulet titan, you still could have won or forced your opponent to block with their titan by sacrificing and recasting Grave Crawler twice, then attacking with Rotting Regisaur and Carrion feeder. He would be forced to block with his titan or lose the game. :) Valakut is five or more other mountains, so even if he fetched two mountains, it wouldn't trigger Valakut.
I've been meaning to ask for years, but who is Seth's Avatar on MTGO?
Peacekeeper, old card
Specifically, Peacekeeper is a prison card, which if you've ever witnessed Seth's abiding love for Blood Moon, Ensnaring Bridge, infinite-lock-combos, etc, should make perfect sense.
It's Peacekeeper from Visions. It's basically a prison creature (a two-drop that makes it so creatures can't attack), it's basically a homage to my love of prison strategies and lock decks (even though it isn't played anywhere at this point - a long time ago there were some Legacy decks that used it).
This would be great with the new demon aura
I wish they would reprint Demon's of Death Gate into standard. I feel like this deck would be perfect in Pioneer.
Do you not play leagues anymore with these decks?
Question: why does everyone on Magic Online play the Stoneforge Mystics with the alternate art? That art (in my very strong yet humble opinion) is far inferior to the original Worldwake art. Is the original art just not available?
Might just be the cheaper copy to buy from bots
EDIT; yeah it's cheaper. I do like the art just fine though.
@@Kryptnyt that would make sense.
TBR would be real good here.
44:04 I am entertained.
