Thank you so much for this tutorial. A lot of other guides omitted a lot of information or assumed the person had some other things removed and going on.
I was able to successfully switch out my intake manifold on my 99 Town Car. The original had a crack at the front and was shooting out coolant in a steady stream.
Unfortunately, my car is still overheating and I'm not sure why. I don't have anything leaking or making noise in the engine bay. What else could possibly be the issue?
Another issue that now happens is the car rough idles and dies when the engine gets to the normal point of heat where it should stay steady? I only did this guide so it must be related to a part I touched here. Do you know what it could be?

The rtv sealant will cause a problem sometime down the road...if not immediately. Lots of these video's but seldom ever see start up at the end. Usually a problem they have and edit the video for a quick stop...like this one. I cringed through this one with the power tool and rtv sealer and not putting the thermostat/o-ring and gooseneck on and torque all the bolts down together.

love the video. you speak so clear and video shots are great with lighting. please help me.
got moms 2001 marquis leaking a puddle coming on the ground below firewall back by bell housing. i think i see a small puddle below muffler pipe on occasion also after running car 15 mins.
can't see any leak on the top parts of manifold. too bad because i can't find where leak is coming from.
from what i said can you refer me to where it is coming from?? it has 78,000 miles on car, mom doesn't drive much pretty old.
i would like to know if the leak is coming from the coolant line that goes from the behind the water pump through the valley under the manifold.
if i take the alternator off and also what it looks like a shield which appears to be part of the manifold blocking access to the metal coolant line going through the valley, can i then cut the hose and install a new hose with a 90 degree elbow and take it above the engine back to the heater core???
or else i would have to take the whole manifold off. i was hoping the removal of the shield attached to the manifold by using a drimmel and cutting it open would let me see if there is a leak there.
i just wish i knew if it was a bad manifold, i would buy and intall it even though never did before.

Hey Scott! Thanknyoubfirnthebkind words.. Without actually seeing the car its difficult to say! Could be the heater core, could be the coolant crossover hose you are talking about and could even be a crack where the heater core hoses connect to the manifold because its made of plastic. I reccomend getting a radiator pressure test kit. Pressurize the system and listen for the leak. You made need to take out the thermostat.

30:15 That's the dorman. How is it running now?

    • @bellawright4265

It wasn't installed correctly...thats why no response to your question. When installed correctly...it's a good manifold. I've done over a dozen of the dorman manifold with no problems.

@@bellawright4265 I'm coming to that conclusion as well. I read a lot of grand marquis / Lincoln town cars are using the Dorman with great outcomes. Thanks for the confirmation!

Don't need to take pictures. Just watch the video. How about those injector clips. What a pain. Breath on this stuff and it cracks. Oh well. Almost there! I'm going to try and rebuild the fuel injectors.
