Welcome back to the Defense news channel, In this video, we'll be taking a look at what the U.S. Army is flying in its helicopters now: new laser countermeasures!
Army AH-64s have joined the service’s UH-60s in being fitted with the new Common Infrared Countermeasures, or CIRCM system. A directional infrared countermeasures system, CIRCM gives the helicopters a valuable additional layer of defense against incoming heat-seeking, short-range surface-to-air missiles.
the U.S. Army can now protect its helicopters and troops from enemy fire.

The thumbnail for this video is ridiculous. That is an anti-collision light, not a fancy laser emitter.
are flares still used on top?
Thank you all from Apache family.
whats with the count down timer?
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
That's not what "dodging" is but yes, Directed Energy Weapons will certainly help considering the speed of light is a tad bit faster than the speed of a rocket
Its called Directional Infrared Counter Measures (DIRCM) and very possible that it would work but countermeasures can be affected by various factors
its not perfect
Circm is a type of dircm
I wonder next-generation attack stealth reconnaissance helicopter have lasers weapons like upgrade AH-64 Apache Helicopter
The Apache E is a test bed for all sorts of things such as the Loyal Wingman program which the E model can do plus it can be armed with offensive lasers.
It'll probably shoot cinnamon buns
I wonder if the Apache could support Navy's Laser Induced Plasma Filament? It's supposed to generate an IR hologram to draw away IR missiles from the aircraft.
