As I've "matured", I find myself drawn evermore towards simplicity in life and the tools I use in it. Your set-up, and the ease and expertise that you show with it, are a delight.
Accurate collection of the comforts as well as the trials of dinghy cruising. Thanks, Roger, for taking the time to not only record your travels, trials, and tribulations, but also for putting the time in to edit in a way that makes the trip entertaining to us who experience the same and sometimes take for granted what we have accomplished sailing our compact vessels in all kinds of weather. I recognized the frustration of deciding what side the sail wants to be on, making the adjustment, only to be fooled by the wind again.
A very nice muck about with other boats. I take it Roger enjoys his regular meals. 😆 and less drinking. All that rain under a tarp makes me appreciate my little cabin however small it is.
Really glad you do these vids Roger! I'm an old guy in Brighton, Ontario, and missed the activity when I could have when younger. Now am boat obsessed. Gonna camp a bit on my little motorboat near a provincial park, and go "HEE HEE! I can do this!" and live life, not wait it out.

France is a beautiful country but with your videos it is very desirable to sail in all these places. Once again you tempt us Roger, hmmm I don't know to thank you or to frown at you 😊😊😊
I have to agree that the French sabbatical has had a profound and noticeable change in the direction of the film production and editing not to say that of the past is not as good it just get more and more viewable nd appreciated
at 4:36 you capture the ultimate "go with it" with the gent dancing in the near dark Rain! Then the priceless (assuming inebriated) discussion on french cuisine! So glad you didn't edit that out Sir Roger - delightful. As well as the reaching toward the end. Oh it's ALL good - thanks so much Roger
Your videos always make me wish I was doing this. Maybe someday. Loved where you held the sail over to get passed the anchored boat, so smooth. Them the crazy sail up the stream with the sail swinging back and forth. Lol.
We didn’t witness your dancing Roger ! 😂. Thanks for the lovely video. Great content and so calm. 10:13 sums it up for me … what a beautiful photo! Thank you for sharing.
Wonderful. Some great photography on those mill pond seascapes and reflective of French impressionist paintings. Good stuff Roger and thanks for sharing the trip.
Merci Roger de nous ravir en mouillant la coque de votre Ilur dans ce merveilleux Bassin d'Arcachon; une région de France que nous nous promettons bien de visiter un jour !
You'll never know how much happiness your videos bring me. I always play your latest one at least twice when I first watch it. They are wonderful. I liked your hat so much that I've bought one. I wear it when canoeing. Great hat. I already had the smock. All I need now is a dinghy! I only wish you could make similar videos with like minded folk here in England, so I could understand what they were saying. I never got on with languages at school, I took the science path. Keep up the good work and good luck, health and happiness be with you always....Ian.
Lovely video. Took me back some considerable years when I spent a few weeks around the Bay of Arcachon/ Mimizan camping! Your videos are so relaxing and make me want to go dinghy sailing!🇦🇺👍🇦🇺🇬🇧😎
Love this Roger. What a joy. Next best thing to being there, thanks. Very interesting to see a new area too. The New Forest meets the Norfolk Broads, what a great mix.
I was actually Camping there at this time at a place called Lanton,East side of the Bassin It’s a beautiful area, as you say similar to places in the UK> I liked the areas of water cordoned off with plastic water foul to attract incoming geese etc to the lair of the. hunters. It’s also Boar country. I was mainly Kayaking then, and when the tide goes out, a long way, there are always beaches of mud left exposed.
Kia Ora from Denis of Nelson OARS (-ocean adventure rowing skiffs ! ) a dinghy cruising group out of Port Nelson N.Z Great move going to France Roger - enjoying the journey with you and your cruising adventures.love that French coastline!
Love to see that you’ve posted. I first look at the duration and am always happy to see a number like 22:11 so I can enjoy for longer. Thanks for the glimpse into the difficulties in what you do.
9:57 finnalement il y a du food!! Thanks again for the usual splendid trip report, sights, sleight of hand sailing, sounds, light and overall ambiance.
Exceptionally enjoyable as always, I've never owned a boat myself but sailed with a friend on his Jaguar 22 many years ago and really enjoyed it. Thank You for taking the time to share your passion
Just past the entrance to the Bassin on the Atlantic coast the dunes grow larger and about 5km south of the town of Arcachon is La Dune du Pilat; at 100m high and about 2km long it is estimated to be the largest sand dune in Europe with magnificent views over the Bay of Biscay and the endless pine forests of Les Landes. Well worth a visit - but by road as the Biscayan seas may be a little too risky!
Thanks again Roger. In this time of endless negativity it’s a great relief to get another of your excellent videos to take care of the lockdown blues. Btw you did look a bit under the weather after the no food beach party. lol It was also nice to see a new part of the French coast.
A really great video depicking the quiet and the glorious moments within dinghy sailing. And the social isn't at all bad at times. Personally. I used to sail for so long in the day all I wanted to do was get an hour's kip before I settled down for bed. 😛
I was so surprised to see this vid come up, I had to have an early lunch so I could watch it. Looked like you needed the "dare of the hog" that first morning, lol.

Love that slightly drunk discussion of French dining habits.
Not slightly drunk… just moderately over-refreshed 😁
Agreed. The group dancing had me grinning ear to ear. Looked like such fun.
Definitely having consumed things other-then-solid. Thanks, Roger. Another very pleasant time spent with you.
Dining? They do not eat anything substantial, which was the whole point. No dining habit in sight, over there, that weird night.
