I purchased the 1030 Plus the latter end of last year, upgrading from my 130. I wanted the bigger, better animal and bigger screen. Its a win win for me. I do hear people say the weight (of the 1030plus) has broken the Garmin mounts for some people. I haven't had that issue and find it stable as. For me there is no need to pay that huge amount for the 1040, where they only have slight upgrades/differences. The solar option on the 1040 looks cool though.
Just ordered the 1040 for huge discount (sub 840 cost) thru health care provider partnership with my company. Replaces 520 Plus. Have Tifosi Rivet readers arriving too so I can see it really well. This video helped my decision. Well done!
So interesting to watch this 6 years later. Just like wider tires, I dont understand how this took so long... Current Di2 105 supports up to 36 cassettes. My new Bike came with 35/48 front to 10-36 rear. Never going back to unnecessary huge gears
Still can't see too many reasons to upgrade from my 530...the only feature I'd (sometimes) like to have is an easy way to zoom out (and later in) of the map to see what's (further) ahead.
Still running an 800 here! It's on it's second battery now, of course. But I will be looking to upgrade to an 840/1040 later this year (and I'm leaning towards the 1040, with a rear radar too).
the issue of garmin Edges is it's less fun away from a garmin watch. Garmin watches are more fun to use than an edge now, and all new edge functions you can find on new watches. I will never update my 1030P until it's break down. I am very happy to have a newer Fenix 7X pro or even instinct 2X then a X40 edges. Then just use watch for mostly everything, mostly winter commutes, etc. I do now use 1030p for summer rides (no watch in summer it feels so horrible) and 1030p for group rides. Thus any a situation is not a must for an Edge, then just use my Fenix, it just works, even better than Edge.
@@adammillsindustries. I have an epix pro watch too. I’m thinking it would be better to have an Edge computer if you’re going to be utilizing a rear radar like the Varia…🤔

I picked up the 1040 ciber Monday, can't wait to try it out come spring.
I've always said every hill in the country should have position markers eg 400m to summit ,The summit ect
Every 5 metres would suit me

I am looking at 1040 solar. Nice video as well

My main reason for upgrading was the size of screen - couldn't read the 830 anymore without glasses.

im thinking to buy a used 1030 for affordable price 😅
Excellent vid
I think it’s a crazy price for a 1040 and I wouldn’t even consider buying one in a Black Friday deal
planning to buy a used one for 200$ cheaper
I was sad when I received my Varia RTL515 and found out it had micro USB. Damn, my wahoo bolt is USB C
Any news on a new Bolt?
Personally, the 1040 is much better than the 1030 due to the Arabic language feature, the speed of the device, and the device’s aluminum base.
I want to see more videos. Thank you please.
Good vid
Thanks Mike.

I have an Epix pro watch but wanted the 1040 for a big screen.
