    Thanks for sharing the videos. Funny story about the dreams you have. The first time i went out solo camping here in PA. I was in my brand new RTT and I had put a small motion light out side by the ladder. I had a tough time falling to sleep that time but a few hours after I did, I dreamt the light was on. It was like in a movie when someone is trying to wake themselves up before being murdered. I remember dreaming, "the light is on, the light is on". Then I woke up saying, "The light is on"!?! It wasn't. hahaha. Oh well, keep up the work.

    I don't have the dreams, but I had an experience where a vehicle pulled up around 12 am while I was asleep.They parked about 3' away with the headlights pointed directly at the passenger side of the Jeep ( the side I sleep on)....then they started blowing the horn. Not knowing who or how many of them there were, I just stayed put. Eventually the vehicle parked a few feet away. As I listened for anything indicating someone was getting close, I layed quietly in the dark, hoping I wouldn't have to use my hastily improvised instrument of defence. After about 20 minutes, a second vehicle pulled up the same as the first, headlights in my side windows and blowing the horn. At this point I knew that it was at least two against one. For a time, my first thought to myself was, "so this is how it ends".....second thought was "well, I'm not going quietly !" ...after a few minutes, the second vehicle parked, someone got out of one vehicle, got into the other, and all was quiet until they all left about 3 hours later. It turns out, as near as I can tell, it was just locals and I was in "their spot". Didn't sleep much that night.

    • @TrailNewbie
      @TrailNewbie  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      WOW, ya, that sounds scary! I’m not sure what I would have done!! I have some things in my vehicle that are definitely meant for self defense. My main fear would be that I use them in a situation like that - when there is not really a real threat. But when you’re alone and isolated - you can either fight or flight. If you can’t easily get out of there (i.e. boxed in) then flight isn’t easy. So glad you were safe! Thank you for watching and for your comment! I really appreciate it! 😀

    I've been solo camping a lot and I really love it. I just recently purchased my first travel trailer. I came across your channel and found it very informative. There are a lot of things I have never thought of getting. Now I know I've been missing some wonderful items with me on my camping adventures. I'm hoping to start a TH-cam to document my camping adventures just for myself. To look back on how I've come along in this
    adventure in my life.

    • @TrailNewbie
      @TrailNewbie  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      That is awesome! I am so glad that some of my videos helped! You should absolutely start a TH-cam channel! When I started mine, my whole thought process was videos that I could look back on. That is key. If you make them in the way that you enjoy watching them, then the satisfaction comes from knowing that other people like them too! You don’t need any fancy gear to start a TH-cam channel. I do all my filming and editing on my iPhone. Thank you for watching, and for the comment!😄😄

    Thanks for sharing this video and your first solo camp adventure. You're not alone with those dreams, lol. Sometimes, I get paranoid when I'm alone in the woods, and I have to completely stop breathing when I'm inside my tent to make sure I can hear exactly what or who is walking near my tent. Every time that's happened, it's been an animal, but I always carry and keep my protection with me even in my sleep lol. Luckily, there hasn't been a need for it.

    Great video🤙 I’ve had those crazy dream too😂 My wife and I were camping in Oregon and I heard a car pull up and stop. Then we heard walking behind the rig we listened to it for a while then I opened the rear tent door and there was nothing there. I got out and looked around and there was nothing. The next morning there was a hand print that didn’t match mine or my wife’s hand on the back hatch glass of the Alu-Cab. Pretty crazy to say the least.

    I started putting a trail cam outside my ground tent, backpacking. I was gobsmacked at the wildlife visits. Some of which woke me up, I remember thinking, “that wasn’t exactly human, was it?”. Next morning I realized there were a number of “game trails” in the soft decomposing litter of the forest floor in fall. It was a horrible nights sleep, if you must know. But a delicious memory to savor.

    Really liking that stove and might look into getting one myself. I'll stick with cooking on my cast iron though as I'm not a fan of non-stick chemical stuff. I use a coleman 2 burner now and have been looking to downsize for a while. Have almost pulled the trigger on the Jetboil genesis but I can get past the price of them. Dinner looked delicious btw.

    • @TrailNewbie
      @TrailNewbie  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, I am really impressed with the Saturn stove by Firemaple. It really pumps a nice amount of flame and is so compact. Call me weird, but I’m also a sucker for a good carrying case! HA! I do have the Jetboil Genesis as well. I was also very hesitant based on the price. I bit the bullet and went for it. It is a SOLID option as well. I have nothing but good things to say about it. It’s compact as well - how it folds into a clamshell shape. You won’t regret either, but depending on pricing and if you need two burners or one - they are both great to consider. If you buy something from Firemaple, there’s a discount code in the description. 😊 Thank you for the comment and for watching! 👏🏼

One night I woke to a commotion and found 5 deer attacking my bag of sunflower seeds I forgot out on the picnic table.

      Dang!! Ya, only major ‘scary’ encounter I’ve had is a mountain lion about 20 yards away staring at me 👀 that got the blood pumping. Stay safe out there! 👏🏼😄🙌🏼👊🏼 🦁 🦌 🐻

    • @TrailNewbie
      @TrailNewbie  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi 👋 no they are not magnetic, they are just slightly bigger than the window opening so they sort of pop in and hold there. They’re really amazing! They are from Weather Tech. 😊

    What type of tie downs do you use for your battery, fridge and gear when off road so they don't move ?

    • @TrailNewbie
      @TrailNewbie  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great question! Well, I actually don’t use any tie down. I do everything from washboard roads to moderate rock crawling. Rock crawling like a 6 or 7 out of 10, and I’ve never had a problem with them moving at all. I’ve been amazed! 🙌🏻 I’ve found that I sort of wedge some things next to them, and they really don’t seem to go anywhere. Thanks for watching and for the comment! I really appreciate it! 😊

      I know right!?! The Starlink I bought about 10% for these adventures, and the other 90% is for the prepper in me that believes if the crap hits the fan - we'll need food, shelter, water and internet to know what's going on in the world. I wrestled with getting it, but ultimately decided it was an item that was a 'want' for those reasons. It is really nice to - at the end of an evening - drop a call back home or check maps, etc. But an unnecessary luxury indeed!

    Interesting concept, however it seems like you would spend a lot of money just to heat one sleeping bag. Diesel heaters have the ability to heat an entire rooftop tent. I sleep solo in my 4Runner so I understand that it could be an option. BTW, that was me outside your rig…. I was just looking to see if you had a patch or hat to giveaway.

    • @TrailNewbie
      @TrailNewbie  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Ya, I’m also a diesel heater fan. I just had one built for the upcoming changes to my rig. It’s amazing!! 🤩 Hahahhaha! It was you out there!! I do sell hats and patches, but I don’t really advertise it. I sell the hats at cost of $25, and will put a patch in there too for you if you’re interested. It’s the same hat I’m wearing. 😄😄
      All good either way if you’re interested. It’s a super comfortable hat that is flex fit and snap back. 😀😀😀🙌🏼👏🏼👊🏼

      That’s a very interesting point. I’m a believer in Christ and as such I’ve done some research on this previously. I believe that ‘greater is He that is in you, than he who is in the world.’ Therefore, the devil cannot influence your thoughts or dreams directly. However, indirectly with the things we see, read, hear in the world can have a subconscious influence on our thought-life and dreams. Here is a really good video from Dr. John MacArthur who explains this really well.th-cam.com/video/p2N9ENRTRas/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ZAEUEQNh7MFUKeL- One thing I’d also want to point out - is to not give the devil too much credit. He does not have the power of God to control your mind, actions or dreams. The devil is very limited in his abilities - and in many cases (as we read in the Bible), the devil has to ask God for permission to do something on the earth. 🌎 At the same time, there are demons and spirits in the world. While I don’t believe that I have personally had any encounter with one/them, indeed calling on the power and Lordship of Christ is the key! 🔑📖 Thank you for watching and for your comment! 🙏🏼 I really appreciate it! 😀

    You guys are all about selling stuff… very annoying….

    • @TrailNewbie
      @TrailNewbie  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Sorry it rubbed you the wrong way. Not the intent to annoy the audience! 😅 There were definitely two product placements here that I was contracted to fulfill with ICECO and Firemaple. As this hobby (creating videos) has turned into an income generating source for me and my family, it definitely comes with some element of sales and recommendations of products. It’s a great reminder for me, as I look to future videos regarding how I can put more focus into the trip, with less direct emphasis on the products; making the overall feel of the video more enjoyable. Thank you for your comment and for watching! I’m always trying to improve! 😀👊🏼
