Watched about 5 videos that was just saying "Match the base and downscale resolution" "Don't touch bitrate number, just go max quality setting" without stating why. Your video actually explained what was happening and why as well as: 1. Showing me how to fix a problem 2. Teaching me about bitrate 3. Allowed me to find a good balance that works for my pc. 10/10 will watch again and recommend to others!
Totally wish I found this video first. A lot of my recordings are blocky for the same reason. Didn't even realize the recordings were coming out garbage until I finally got around to editing one. Disappointing.
Not only does this man explain exactly how to fix the problem. Not only does this man teach us why it's being the problem in detail. But his voice is so satisfying to listen to. Truly the perfect video guide. 10/10!
I was struggling with blocky/blurry video for the past hour, I watched 5+ videos and couldn't understand anything. This video got straight to the point. Thank you so so much!
This really worked for me, and helped my footage out a lot! A suggestion however, for those who want to find that sweet spot for their bitrate. What I did was recorded some footage that is consistently similar, such as driving a car in your favorite car game or doing a training match in your favorite shooter game (I make minecraft videos so I just recorded that). It doesn't have to be long, i only did like 10 seconds. Anyways, start low, at around 10k bitrate and keep increasing until your footage gets choppy (it might take awhile). After that just go 10k bitrate lower then what you were at (Ex: if you were at 50k bitrate and it looked choppy and glitchy, move it down to 40k bitrate!)
My problem is that when I record it’s fine, when I look at obs while recording it’s fine but when I watch it it looks terribke why are people still replying to this it’s been 2 years
This was the only video that actually helped me - straight to the point and also the details to better understand and adjust to my type of screen recordings. Thank you so much!
Seriously, how does this only have 1.8k likes? Straight to the point, provides a great, easy-to-understand explanation, and a super effective solution! Bravo!
For anyone that still has problems with the res for some reason: go to > Settings > Video > and then change the "Output Res" to the same as the "Base Res", this works for me perfectly fine :D!
You’re a lifesaver. I had to figure out my mic problems by myself and no one had given a good explanation on the resolution. Thanks, you saved me some trouble
I got issue when recording VR gaming, lose more than 60% of the quality during recording, the video became so blurry. After I watched your video, I found out the problem is that I set CQP instead of CBR under the output, after I change it back to CBR and set 60000, the quality went back to 100% as original. Thanks a lot man! 👍
i owe my life to you 😭ive been dealing with this for a few months and none of the videos ive ever watched have helped me except this one. it gets straight to the point and ngl i thought this wouldn't help at all but it did a lot, tysm
I am having a little trouble with my Gameplay Vids. Appearently it is recording with 60FPS but it looks quite laggy when im playing i.e COD BO2 on plutonium or games with a little higher movement. What can i do? Your Example Footage of csgo looks way more smoother than my recent BO2 Vids. I am also using NVENC on OBS v27
i actually absolutely love this channel, you can find a fix to any problem here. because of this guy i could finally start recording games and start a youtube channel
OMG thanks so much. As a small streamer starting out i really want my content to look good but it was always block and you have saved me a greater deal of trouble!!
Literally the first video that popped up on a Google search, and it was exactly what I needed! My laptop capture looked great, but the recording itself wouldn't capture it properly. Changed the bitrate, and BOOM! That's all that I needed. Thanks so much!
Thank you! Finally found the video I was looking for to make my videos less blurry, or whatever the right term is. Appreciate this video, thanks again!
I tried everything but the only solution was no downscaling at all. Even if this wasn't the solution that worked for me, this was def the best tutorial out there!
Informative yet quick and simple. Its rare to see videos made so well. Could do without all those smacking noises, but it doesnt bother me as much as some people. Thanks!
I have a issue, My recording does not look as good as my game, It looks more blurry even tho im recording with 100k bitrate on a ssd it doesnt look so good is there a fix to that?
did you find a way to fix it?i have the same problem and its killing me.it looks good in the software but when i look at the recording,it oesnt look sharp or clear and its blurry.i tried everything.
i do not have a bitrate option in recording and i cant enable replaybuffer when im on advanced output so basically cant change the blocky/blurry recordings
I'm recording on 3500 per second, isent that standard for bit rate,I'm doing 720p capturing from console, I have it set in obs to very fast must I put it on medium ,I have i7 amd gaming laptop but it using amd chip set separate h264
This helped tonnes. Unfortunately I recorded a good couple of hours worth of rubbish video BUT going forward I know the issue. Many thanks for a clear, concise video!
My game gets blurry and voice doesnt match with webcam, just when showing the game. It clearly struggles recording my head + the game, especially because of the game, any idea ? I've tried everything He explained.
60000 bitrate looks great for my elgato but has a very big file size as a downside. Any way to optimize this without lowering the bitrate or do i have to lower it?
I've got the following issue: Regularly I make Livestream on discord because I use it to give some classes, but when I do that, my classmates tells me that they see my camera blurry (fill of pixels). I've tried to connect my computer directly with the router, likewise, I put the out vídeo in 720p. I don't know what could be happen, in case this method don't work for me. What other issue can be?
Thank you SOooooooo!!! much I watched all sorts of videos and nothing worked for me except THIS!! so thank you from the bottom of my heart. FInally my streams and recordings can be super krispy!
You are a legend man! Thank you so much!!! I was getting really ticked off because I would look up results and it would never get any better, this is the only one that actually worked! Thank you so much!!!
So I have a few 30 minute clips that are blurry like this. Is there a way to upscale it so it isnt wasted content ? I used to upscale my xbox clips on my phone and am new to pc.
I have an issue with any game with high movements, as sooon as I move a bit too fast, it becomes all blurry, whatever bitrate i use (with Nvidia encoder)

Thanks so much, that fixed my problem! I wasn't totally sure whether you wanted a higher or lower bitrate, this explained it simply yet effectively
Bro i owe you my life and you have earned my eternal subscription
I can't believe I went a whole year without fixing this. Thanks for the helpful video.
This helped so much! I spent so long changing various settings that various forums said would help. In the end, this was all that was needed
