NEW 90 GALLON TANK for My Jack Dempsey Cichlids

- Setting up a brand new 90 gallon Jack Dempsey cichlid aquarium! This new cichlid tank is filled up, aquascaped, and stocked with Jack Dempsey fish all in this one video! The cichlids going in this 90 gallon aquarium is probably not a surprise given my fishkeeping history, but I'll also be added more fish to this tank in my next video!
The Aqua Decor 3D background looks incredible in this tank and really stands out amongst my classroom aquariums. The 90 gallon footprint was perfect for this background, setup, and stocking I had in mind. This cichlid tank is going to be one of my favorites for a long time!

Quinn, this looks amazing. I really love the slim 3D backgrounds that Aquadecor makes. I have one myself with the magnetic back pieces. I hope those suction cups hold up over time. It's so nice to hide the heater/filter behind the background. Thanks for sharing!

i remember at my highschool we had a aquarium stocked with Aussie native bass barramundi yellow belly perch and a few native catties love marine aquatics used to get to class early just to watch the fish

I’ve always had the same feelings as well on the Dempsey. Have had them with Angels and geos before and nothing. Recently set up a 120 gallon and added a 3” Dempsey, Red Tiger Mota, Green Terror and a random OB Peacock that someone gave me. Figured id grown them out for a few months before i moved them. Two days in and I’ve found the random Dempsey that is the Hell Spawn lol. Gorgeous fish but a complete Psychopath. Only one that he fears is my Red Tiger Mota. Guess there’s always that one.
And to the people telling these guys what to do….its getting a little wild and all 3 bros are almost to humble and cool to say it…how about you enjoy the videos and let the creators that have been doing this for years do their thing and when they ask for opinions leave them in the comments….otherwise sit back and enjoy the show 🍿

Hi there guys, love your fish and informative posts. Ive found a Peacock at the fish store that Ive fallen for. He has a crooked mouth 😃 unsure exactly what he is, deep blue head some yellowing and darker vertical stripes. However....this means getting more tankmates, and another tank 😮 oh oops 😊. That size are priced quite high but the 4 inch ones not so bad. Would you say this would work ok? Im hopefull I can sex correctly to just get males to help aggression. Im not confident though. Should I just wing it and see?
I will have them in a tank of their own 190lt, but I have 5 adult Electric Blue Accara in a same size tank, could I bring some into there if I have bullying issues?

Not too difficult. Basically just water changes and filter cleanings as usual

I seem to have a very fertile tank.
Move the one branch going Northwest to Southeast. It should go in the same direction as the others. The X the branches form is bad composition. Other than that it looks great.

Question: How does one reseal a tank? I had a 55 gallon cichlid tank spring a leak overnight. The next day I unfortunately had to donate all of my cichlids. That was a month ago and a very sad day for me. 😢
Concerning the tank, it’s a bowfront corner tank. I have no idea where the leak was. It wasn't big.
Should I reseal the tank? If so, how would I go about doing that?

I would be careful on adding more to the 90 gallon. If the jack dempseys ended up being a pair, be prepared for the jack to fight and kill anything that gets near them. They'll claim that whole tank!
You could try adding a single H. Carpintis aka electric blue Texas cichlid. Males get up to 10-12 inches as females get 6-8 inches.
The empty tank, if it's a 75 gallon, you could a small group of 6 firemouths as they are a shoaling cichlid. But they are very active. That's until they pair. Lots of rocks and hiding spots for them with high flow waters

I added a precaution of placement of 2 unsexed jack dempseys that may pair if one is male and female or one maybe an a-hole. Add another species to the mix that come from a aggressive background later on, MAY endure issues.
Then have a ample active idea for the other tank. I enjoy their content a lot, but it's just an opinion of what may happen especially not adding everyone at once, meaning getting the others he wants as mates.
Are Oscar fish ok being in a tank alone? I have an old 75gal tank in my garage from when I bought my house. I've kept some smaller fish, but I'd prefer to not buy a new 120gal+ tank to keep two Oscar fish if one can be kept alone in a 75gal tank, unless I can keep two in a 75gal tank.
