    Those greyish small blood parrots (going for $1 @ nanyang if i remember correctly) are baby blood parrots. I bought 3 of them around 2 to 3 years back. They grow up and will slowly turn orange. Really cool to see how they grow up and the color changes.
    Really like your tank and will be following the updates!
    I visit Nanyang quite frequently and hopefully will see you around.

    I was lucky enough to get a jellybean convict recently. They called them Snow White convict parrots at my local store. It doesn’t bother my tiger barbs but it’s very aggressive towards my convict cichlid which is a little smaller. Your videos have been super helpful in setting up my community aquarium for my turtle!

    Beautiful fishes. My JD looks very similar, cant wait to see how color improves. Those blue ones were very tempting but I seen some other fish keepers mention issues with longevity. Looks like you can feed everyone at once. Definitely curious to see how things go as the turtle gets bigger. That is a lot of fish surviving with a turtle, perfect harmony.

    • @SGBeardedAquarist
      @SGBeardedAquarist  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah i feel you - i cant wait for mine to grow and color up! And yeah i heard that about the eletric blues too, and that they are less aggressive. Feeding this tank is such a joy everyone goes nuts! Im rly curious to see how things go too i rly want to upgrade my tank size down the road

  • @edifyinglight

    After a fews months of growth months, the Jack Dempsey is going to turn your tank into a crime scene. I saw at least one Danio and a school of Tiger Barbs that will not last once the Jack Dempsey’s mouth is large enough. The Parrots and the Jelly Bean will not be eaten, but the Jack will probably assert dominance over them-especially if it is a male. He may kill them. Cichlids have mildly diverse personalities, so yours may allows the other to live. But Jack Dempseys were named after a boxer for a reason. They are generally aggressive.

    • @SGBeardedAquarist
      @SGBeardedAquarist  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Check the date, it's been 2 years. Jack dempsey didnt kill nobody. Danios would've been the only casualty (and I'm fine with that, they were feeders anyway) but were shifted out.

    • @SGBeardedAquarist
      @SGBeardedAquarist  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would think its something else. Water parameter, feeding frequency/amount/food, tankmates etc.
      In general for a fish to grow fast, feed well, feed often. Feed foods that are complete. Convicts are omnivores so they need omnivore pellets. Make sure they are not stressed. They have places to hide and retreat. No tank mate that is bullying him.
      The list goes on but I hope some of what I name would've hit the culprit of the slow growth.

    Parzigold is a treatment for 5days. How long did you treat the fish for?

    • @SGBeardedAquarist
      @SGBeardedAquarist  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Corydoras Gallery, thank you for sharing. This wasn't a treatment (they are not diagnosed with anything), it was a concentrated 1 hour dip. Disclaimer before I get slaughtered by ppl, i admit its not ideal and patience is something this hobby is teaching me slowly but surely. That said, i do quarantine much longer when i buy from shops im not familiar with or dont trust. As for treatment (not quarantine) durations, i think its also dependent on what we are treating as well (dependent on life cycle).

      I did medicated dips instead of a quarantine. About an hour in praziquentel, seachem paraguard and salt. Not the most ideal, I only do this with fishes bought from stores I trust. Never had an issue before.
      If im buying drom stores i dont trust i quarantine up to a week. Still not the most ideal but I'm a little impatient and that has worked out for me so far as well. Hope this helps :)
