I'm on my Valve gaming journey (Portal then Half-Life then Portal 2 now the middle of HL2, then will play Opposing Force/Blue Shift). The realization that many deceased Half-Life fans will never get to see the ending tells how important a third game is to the series.

As a huge Valve fan from Australia, this is great news. Not because I'm overly interested in a Steam Deck (I rarely need to take public transport), but when their new VR headset eventually releases, it's likely we'll be able to buy directly on Steam itself in AUD. Alyx was one of the greatest gaming experiences I've ever had, so I'm very excited to see what they'll be doing with the Deckard.

If you haven't played Alyx, you're missing out. The VR really is transformative. It's as important a leap as the physics engine in hl2. And you can fully enjoy it even with a low tier headset.

I think stores should not be allowed to have "buy" buttons at all if we are really just renting games, no disclaimer should be able to change this.
I think publishers should just sell games as goods which you buy once, then own forever, even after the publisher's server shuts down.

@@MrBelles104 I don’t think you’re really understanding why you’re buying a license in the first place, it’s not a physical product, you’re not buying a “thing,” (even though the physical product is irrelevant now because most physical media that we sell with games doesn’t actually contain the whole game and you’re STILL just depending on the license you purchased with it) it’s a digital product, buying the product outright would be granting you ownership over the intellectual property.
GOG is technically still just selling you a license, it just doesn’t at have DRM attached (which tbh you don’t count on steam suddenly failing so I would just say the only reason you want that is to pirate said game or help your friends pirate said game)

Here's my prediction: Half Life 3 will be a lore-friendly retcon of Half Life 2 Episode 2 (which basically already happened in Alyx).
My other prediction is that we'll finally get the cremator. The cremator has existed as a beta enemy for four games now. Half Life 2, its episodes, and even Half Life Alyx had planned on there being a cremator (there was a full gorgeous model). The writing is on the wall. They want to include the cremator somehow.
I wish they really fix the ugly separate pop-up windows you get while trying to press on workshop items or screenshots in Hub that are not loading correctly.
