I have been building a custom SCX10 On this VS410 chassis. There are some nice features with this kit, however if I was to do it all over again, unless I was planning on using all vanquish components I would just choose to wait for an updated version or just stick with an SCX10 platform due to the many headaches I have experienced with this build. 1). The sliders are narrow and can’t be adjusted wider to fit a slightly wider body causing the body to catch on rocks. 2). The massive crossmembers at both the front and rear are one large piece for rigidity, but eliminate many bumpers unless they are the post style or the flat style that mounts to the outer portion of the frame rails as you cannot eliminate the main brace as it is part of the servo bracket or fuel cell. 3). The shock mounts are not comparable with any shocks that have the one sided knuckle on the top of the shock(ex.: Proline or SSD shocks)

That's definitely a conversion that I would consider. While you're updating your rig go check out Excalibur Customs. They make a nice dual servo mount. Similar to the one that blue monkey rc used to make for the 10.1.
This already comes with a dual servo mount that incorporates a lot more. It wouldn’t be a good idea to use that in place of this.
The Ripper front bumper would look great with that Bronco.
That's what I have on my stock SCX10ii chassis. I'm hoping they make one that fits this new chassis. Going to buy another Bronco body since the new post holes don't line up nicely.

I just bought 2 of these kits,nice chassis but i am having a hell of a time trying to get a scx10 2 deadbolt body on it.

Always an option as well, but if you have a car that’s just not as used any longer, sometimes it’s nice to breathe new life into it.

since the transmission is flipped from the stock chasis, will you have to flip the driveshafts as well so the longer shaft is in the rear.
Any chance you'll make a Ripper bumper that slides into this chassis? I was really hoping I could use mine because it looks great with the Bronco body and gives great clearance compared to the massive plastic bumpers that came with my Jeep Cherokee. If Vanquish makes a bumper set that'll fit the VS4-10 I'll buy.
Aye man I did this exact thing but I had sum problem with the rear stock 10 2 shocks binding with the shock hoops

Yes the clearance of the frame rails and location of the panhard and servo mount.

I’ll look into the kit trans, the stock SCX kit skid will bolt in, but the other mounts will be needed.

I have the kit version of the SCX10ii and discovered there’s no pretty way to use the stock skid and mount the transmission so it clears everything. Is there something I’m missing or do I need to buy the RTR transmission kit from Vanquish? No big deal if that’s the case because I’m planning to build up the old chassis for my son to upgrade him from his SCX10 Deadbolt. A parts list would be much appreciated. I run in filthy muddy conditions sometimes so I’d like to protect the spur if possible.
Ended up buying a cheap helical trans on amazon until I have the time and money to throw at building up a complete Vanquish trans. I really wish Axial had used the same bolt pattern for both the kit and RTR.
Also can u use the origin axles on a 10 2
Will this conversion work with a 1.9 Wraith?
As always, love the video. The chassis upgrade looks nice, and the lower COG would be much appreciated, along with vanquish quality, I am intrigued. The lower COG would certainly help offset some of the issues with portal axles, as you mentioned. If a viewer had an scx10ii they they have spent some time and money on getting set up to their liking (so they don't necessarily want to just sell it and start all over with a trx4) and they wanted portals other than the super nice and high quality, yet cost prohibitive, f9 portals. Would you have any recommendations?
I plan to put TRX4 portals under this chassis soon also. You can find take off axles for a pretty decent price.
@@HarleyDesignsIncis the offset pumpkin a big hurdle, or will the shafts just play nice? I am kind of astounded that there are no youtube vids covering the swap, or even Gen 8 axles for that matter. (Hopefully the strong hint to make a video about the swap wasn't lost on you...ha!)

Rear cage can always be the clearance issues, but it’s just minor custom trimming you may have to do.

Good question. Trying to convert my 10.2 kit to the chassis kit and unless I’m vastly overlooking something I don’t see how the transmission will mount at all. What did you find out?

I just got the chassis kit. I was wondering what is the last bracket? It doesn’t show in the instruction packet.
It goes with the parts for the new VFD transmission. Hold onto it for the future.
Hy, a configuration with curie F9 axles and servo on axle it will be nice.
This was made for a chassis mounted servo, so I would stay with that.

Hi Harley, quick question, my SCX10 II raw kit is setup on 12.3" or 313mm, can it be transfer same setup on the VS4-10? Will the body post will be the same position as the original, or I would have to drill out new holes into the body? Thank you great video !!!
Most of the body post locations are the same, however Axial also uses several different post style which can vary. If you’re using standard straight posts though, you should be good.

Yes that will swap over. You’ll need to use standard width balls in the skid plate is all.
Does this conversion go the same if you have an SCX10 II Deadbolt with upgraded Incision links?

I am looking at buying a crawler. I have never owned one before and looking to get into it but i dont know what kind of crawler to get. Any suggestions?

So my main concern is is if I buy this chassis will I still be able to put my scale GCM transmission on this chassis? On the axial you had to have a skit skit plate and obviously the mounts were made to fit inside a SCX10 frame rail. But will it work with this vanquish chassis
Something like that may not drop in, or would require custom mounts at least.

Bummed to find the VP 10.2 front shock towers don’t seem to work with the chassis kit. Am I missing something, or have any suggestions?
This chassis is a totally different design so the towers will not work.
Harley Designs hey thanks for taking the time to reply. Yep, I am seeing that, and unfortunately the shock towers are the least of my concerns now. I have the 10.2 kit version, so of course my transmission won’t mount/fit on the skid plate.
And would the Vanquish chassis converted car still qualify for Axialfest 2019?
Yes it will
If you want to swap over to wraith axles will the wraith skid plate fit and if so what is the best rock sliders to go with?
No, Wraith axles are not an easy fit and will require extensive mods.

Probably could but I have not tried. That’s not as popular as it used to be so I haven’t even thought about it.
Nice looking chassis, but I'm not sure I get the point. Is the SCX10-2 chassis that bad that it needs complete replacement? Can't some small mods stiffen it up if you want? I haven't really heard any complaints about it so I'm confused as to why this exists. Please, enlighten me. -"Angry" Dave
Chassis replacement is very common on the SCX line, there are hundreds of options. The SCX chassis is restrictive on performance especially on the front. This is specifically noticeable when trying to get a lower ride height than the very tall stock setting.

Yeah, I've probably had 100+ SCX10's and the shortcomings of the chassis are apparent after trying to build so many custom trucks.

Thats a request I've never heard. I'd say it's probably possible depending on the positioning of the servo and motors for clearance. I bet it would be an interesting build.

Would the Vanquish shock towers fit on this kit or would we have to use the ones provided from this kit? Also would the transmission housing from the CRC 2017 Jeep fit on this kit?
The shock towers in this kit are different. Aluminum shock towers for this will also be available if desired. But the panhard Mount is already aluminum on this so the strength is already very high.
Also, yes the 2017 trans will fit

This is made for chassis mounted servo so you would have to come up with a panhard Mount for the SCX10-1.

What I meant was just not building the vs410 and just buying an Element kit instead
Are you talking about the hard plastics? I’m going to go look at a Element today and I believe it has the hard plastics installed already. Aren’t they grey instead of black?

why did you only hook up 3 links in the front?
Because the front suspension is a 3-link with panhard. With a chassis mounted servo you don't want to run a 4-link suspension.
How does the chassis allow for more travel with stock shocks?
A stock chassis doesn’t allow for full travel specifically on the drag link side. The high clearance design allows for more travel.
Will the TRX 4 lift kit convert to this chassis, and will I run into an issue with the drag link?
I'll be building a version with TRX4 axles soon.
I would NOT suggest using the lift kit on anything but a mud truck. It’s best to only use it on a TRX4.
How do you have more travel than that of a scx10ii??
Much higher chassis arcs, allowing the axle to travel further upwards where an SCX10 chassis has significant interference issues, especially on the passenger side.
I dont sizes of pivot balls. So I'm going to ask will the revo rod ends work with this?
Yes these are the same size as Revo rod ends, Axial rod ends are slightly larger which is why we include the proper size balls.

Wraith axles will require custom links just like an SCX10 chassis would. It would also require a panhard.
Can I use this chassis on my OG SCX10?
This is setup for a chassis mounted servo and panhard, so you would need to get a panhard mount for the axle.
Would this chassis be a good swap with an element enduro
I have done it to my Enduro and need to finish the install video. It was fairly easy to do.

Yeah, not much different but had to mount the panhard a little different because of their truss design.

I liked this video and I am thinking of getting it. Can you do a video of this setup with a Toyota Hilux hard body ? That is what I am running and what I will use the VS4 -10 kit for. I know that you are not a hard body user but this is somthing that alot of us do run. Thank you.
Body options are very wide, but most bodies should bolt up without issue.

What shocks will you use for your custom rig?
On my recent custom truck on this chassis I used stock front. The rear was all tubing so I welded some on. However otherwise I would have just used the stock ones again.
Whoops, I misread. I am still using the Incision 90mm shocks.
