I discovered BTS while visiting my Daughter. If someone can listen to RM without feeling something they are dead inside. If he had a concert they would have to have Kleenex available. I cried to Wildflowers. He’s made himself cry on stage 😢

Reasons why I love Black Swan and Fake Love because it just shows they’re not just any other pop group they bring on the art. Their versatility is just phenomenal. Go from fun pop, to hip hop, to contemporary. Deep meanings in lyric and video. Just beautiful.
Btw, I’m sure others have told you, no green screen for them. Jungkook really ran those dropping floors, they really blew that stuff up on Jin, real water flooding Jimin, and real fire for Suga. And candy bars for J Hope 😆
You need to know that EVERYTHING in BTS’ music videos has meaning. I’ve researched so many things associated with literature, psychology, religion and the Bangtan Universe (BU) since I became an ARMY. It’s incredible how much I’ve learned because of these incredible artists. The snickers, the water, the fire, even the opening of the curtains, all have significant meanings. I have personally never seen a group invest so much in their lore (underlying story) and I’m 57 years old; not a young one for sure. There are explanation videos for many of their music videos because they are so complex and often have cultural references that are not apparent to Western audiences. If it’s ever suggested to you that you should watch an explanation video, you should do it. I agree. The thing which I think places BTS far and away beyond the achievements of any band I've met (and I'm 68, so remember a LOT) is the depth of meaning they put into everything they do. Suga's definition of Kpop is incredibly relevant - ‘I’m a little bit wary of that but I think rather than approach Kpop as a genre, a better approach would be “integrated content”.’ …

However, I've never heard anyone else even hint at this - though I can see it in the work other artists do. BUT no one - no one - does it with the sheer force and consistency that BTS do.
I'm a meaning girl and a symbols lady, and I love drawing parallels and noticing links and contrast, but BTS touches every single surface and enhances it, all combined to deepen and reinforce the message.
We can all appreciate the music, the imagery, the skill, the dance and sheer production but I think that this commitment, more and anything is what captures us and what keeps us. There is a perpetual dance between BTS and ARMY, flowing and ebbing between intensity and levity, dark and light in a mutual support and love. I often see a new track as a different tone or colour under the changing light of their relationship with ARMY. This too sets them apart.

8:38 The sneakers has its own meaning in this video, a lot of people laugh when they see this scene. It actually has a big meaning..BTS has a very big storyline. The boy lying on the sneaker was abandoned by his mother at the age of 5 at the amusement park while they were playing hide and seek and the only thing his mother left him at the end was the sneakers. This scene also shows the broken toys that light up the amusement park
The man (not boy) is Hobi, he's lying on Snickers (not sneakers!)
"try to erase myself and make me your doll"....ever see the movie 'Stepford Wives'? This song represents the darkest days of my life. I am 66. I don't know how RM writes these songs without ever having dealt with such devastating life experiences.
The fire, explosion, water and falling steps were ALL real! The huge white sculpture at the beginning, real! This is one of my favorites!

Black Swan and Fake Love are what I call their ‘artsy’ side. The third is Blood Sweat and Tears. I think you will like that too.

This song is one of my favorite! It really captures the feeling of trying your best for someone and not being able to sustain it. Being crushed under their expectations, and realizing that if you don’t love yourself whatever love you give, isn’t genuine, isn’t real.

One of the reasons that this is such a perfect vehicle for RM is because he wrote it. His insight and poetry are astounding! RM is my bias, and I'm so happy that you appreciate his talent. Thank you for your reaction. 💜 FYI, Hobi laying on the pile of Snickers relates to his character in the BU (Bangtan Universe) as do the other scenes you see in the Fake Love MV. Many of BTS' MVs are chock full of symbolism and clues to the BU... it's a fictional storyline that runs through about 30 of their MVs, and other resources like notes in their albums, their webtoon, their online game, and a couple of books that have been published. It's a whole other dimension within their discography! There are tons of TH-cam videos devoted to the symbolism in their MVs. Welcome to the rabbit hole, my friend! 💜

Thank you for reacting to BTS💜 The group started as a hip hop group in 2010 and debuted in 2013. If you want to hear their hip hop roots, I would recommend checking out their early albums … with songs like “We on”, “Born Singer”, “Hip hop -phile”, “Rain”, and definitely Cipher 1 -4.

J Hope on the bed of snickers is clue to the BU story ( Bantang Universe) which hits and bits are found in songs, sometime's lyrics some times the general subject matter or song in books in the webtune. In the story J Hope a child is taken to the fair by his mother and she gives him a snickers chocolate bar and told to wait for her but she never returns. The members play different characters in the Story of the BU. So J Hope plays the child who left at the fair by his mother. The Flower that Jin is trying to save from the fire part of the BU as is the water and the fire.
the craziest thing you can learn abt this mv is its all real no cgi, the water on the sides of jimin, the mini explosion in front of suga (it was on a smaller scale and made bigger in editing tho) the floor falling behind jungkook, the sets are real. this mv is crazy

Rm’s Persona!
This song does so much to me..september 2020 i got to know BTS before i heard one song i watched who they were, i had my darkest time in life. My 14 years relationship ended brutal with cheating and all the cr@p with it. My daughter was that time Army and in the morning she watched mv of them and it was this song..and OMG that moment i became an Army in blood and veins...thanks to them i didn't lose my marbles, the line " for you i could pretend that i was happy while i was sad. Also V's (Taehyung) "stigma" and RM' "joke" took me further into BTS. I have not regretted for a moment that these kings came into my life! I am so grateful to them.Thank you very much for your "fake love" response. A recommendation that I think you will love is "blood, sweat and tears". I'll see you on the next one. 💜💜💜
A few HITS I would recommend: Fire, Dope, ON (Kinetic manifesto film), Blood Sweat & Tears, Not Today & Idol. Another great group song is Run BTS but there's no video, only the dance practice and one live performance. All of these songs have great choreo as well, so if you watched the MV and then a dance practice or performance, you could appreciate that aspect too

I LOVE this song. I like watching youtube videos of this song live because the choreography is so amazing. My immediate favorites when I first discovered BTS were Jimin and RM. First because of their personalities but then I really fell in love with RM's rapping and Jimin's vocals. Also, Jimin's dancing is incredible. Glad to hear your appreciation of RM.
You should check out Singularity. It’s a solo by V (Taehyung) and the intro for this comeback. Smooth vocals over Namjoons lyrics (written just hours after surgery).

I agree, though, Joon's verse in mic drop isn't really the full scope of his ability, tone, writing etc. and isn't the best representation for him. Maybe it's because it's not the original version (in which he performed a Korean verse) and that verse was tailor made for the remix. He's truly a diverse rapper, in lyrics and flow and you get to see that the more you dive into his solo work.

This is where it gets complicated, this is one of their trilogy album that runs through a storyline. J-hope lying in a bed of snickers bars is part of that storyline where he was abandoned in an amusement park by his mom, and she gave him a candy bar. So no matter what amount of candy bars he got, he knew it was fake love.

Love that you love RM! :) You'll see more. And he usually writes most of the lyrics to their songs anyway. I don't like POP and I think you've already seen their biggest "hits" but the fandom doesn't really have a "hit" because of their versatility and spanning genres. You might have fun with the three solo songs on Map of the Soul that kind of go along with Black Swan in that Black Swan brought the Shadow again.

I'm glad you're finding out what you like! RM's voice definitely stands out. He has a lot of power, charisma, and gravitas in the way he comes in on many tracks.
If you like this style of song, I'd recommend trying Blood, Sweat and Tears next. It's one of the songs that really launched them into winning their first major awards (in 2016). The music video is very meaningful, lots of layers, beautifully artistic, the rap and vocal parts weaving in and out of the song.
Fake Love is a part of the Bangtan Universe. The BU videos don’t necessarily correlate with the song. The snickers are important in the BU.
