It’s a little different though. Having to murder someone yourself as opposed to paying someone to do it for you is different. While I agree Walter was completely gone here, the circumstances are a little different.

Eventually, you'll be so desensitized, your decisions to kill will be based on sheer pragmatism. That's why in most alternate timeline stories where Batman kills, he becomes a villain.

    Imagine things from Hank's perspective.
You just dismantled one of the biggest drug rings in America, the group that absolutely had some hand in trying to assassinate you, a group so shadowy and elusive most people didn't think they existed.
And now, finally, when you've got all the evidence you need and all the accomplices ready to sing... You get a call that some maniac wiped all the computer data with a giant magnet. And then your best friend comes up to you and tells you that the witnesses are dead.
All of them. 10 different men. 10 different jails. In two minutes.

If what you said was possible then gorillas and chimpanzees should rule the world rn but they don’t since humans figured out how to work together, isolate those animals and negate the advantages of their size and strength.
Thats how the weaker early humans without guns or spears, just rocks gained control over resources and nutrition, which led their brains to grow bigger and you know the rest of the story. You could be the size of the Big Show with skills like Bruce Lee and Van Damme but you’d still get taken out by 8 prisoners with shanks. If it can be done against, tigers, lions, elephants and gorillas it can be done against humans simple as that.

@@OJ9992 All the men were arrested for their involvement with Gus’s organization and Mike was paying them off in order to keep them silent which Walt was pissed about because he wanted more money. I think either in this episode or the one before, the lawyer who was representing them got caught putting their money in deposit boxes for them so he got caught up and it all got seized. Walt also just killed Mike, who was the one person protecting them in the first place. So at this point these nine guys have probably been offered really solid deals by the DEA and they probably have information about Heisenberg, so Walt has them killed to avoid loose ends.

    • @SuperJutah

And while Saul was spooked by the fact that a lawyer was whacked, he otherwise seemed to understand. It’s just Walt’s nonchalant attitude about it that makes us despise him. There’s no guilt, no monologue of him telling himself he had to do it (similar to him prior to Krazy-8’s murder).

But each season that went on, darker colors began to take shape till this scene where there was no light left, another example of how the change in Walter White was complete.
