This is probably the most uncomfortable I've felt watching a show. This whole time Walter was off in this fantasy gangster world, outwitting drug lords and criminals, manipulating both the good and bad; even his own wife gets caught up in the madness. Hank represents the reality and brevity of the situation. The lies, the deception, the murder, all of the lives ruined, the danger that Walter's life put everyone else in, all of it comes to a head here. It's the first time in the entire show that I feel like any of the characters are confronted with shame because Hank isn't sitting in some grey area. He represents a clear line in the sand of what is right and what is wrong, and no one wants to have to face that; not even Walter.

2:45 The moment when Walter White goes all in as Heisenberg. One of the most dramatic and iconic moments in cinematic history. This show was absolutely amazing.
It's so childish. The show is literally meant for adults. It's blood and gore, drug trading etc. but god forbid an American hears naughty words. Glad they don't do that shit in my country.
This has to be one of the best acting scene's I've ever seen. More so from Hank with the absolute dead stare of just emptiness is spectacular. It's a complete change of their personality's only actors or psycho paths could do.
Most psychopaths actually can't do that. They end up in jail or in the criminal world. The 'functional' psychopaths are the ones who managed to learn how to hide their true nature. In other words, psychopaths aren't inherently good liars. Its just selection pressure. The majority fail at life, the successful ones learn to act. (And of course, to be fair, not all psychopaths are evil. Lots have a personal code they follow)
The more I watch this scene, the more I think Walt is actually glad Hank discovered the truth. In the beginning of the show, Hank was a bully to Walt and always rubbing his success in Walt’s face especially at Walt’s birthday. I feel that Hank was the epitome of Walt’s jealousy and envy. This moment let’s Walt finally feel bigger than Hank for once, Walt finally feels he got one over Hank. While he never wanted Hank hurt, there was a part of Walt that wanted to rub it in Hank’s face.
I wouldn't say Hank was a bully, he did maybe push Walt around a bit but he never had ill intentions beyond that and still cared for him and his family. He saw him as a pushover but still a decent, hard working guy and a good father/husband. And because of this never in a million years would he have thought that Walt was the one pulling strings the entire time.
One thing a lot of people seem to miss- Hank was potentially willing to work something out, as long as he got the kids out of that situation. 10/10 Uncle.
Having the kids there would put Walt in a really bad spot, junior would be super confused asking tons of questions with hank hounding Walt, Walt desperately trying to come up with excuses. There was no winning in that situation, junior looks up to hank like a hero, hank wouldn’t be throwing out wild accusations for no reason.
Hearing "tread carefully" from someone who orchestrated 10 murders within two minutes in various prisons without being there would be absolutely terrifying lol

I love how they frame it so that the whole time Walt and Hank look like they're the same height but then, right after he says the "tread lightly" line, it cuts to a low angle that makes Walt look taller.
What I love about Bryan’s acting is that when he does the ‘That is not going to happen’ lines, is that it’s literally Walt AND Heisenberg talking at the same time. The Heisenberg is heard through his threatening words but at the same time, the Walter in him is his shown on his face, the scared and sad man who now has to live with the painful fact that his brother in law knows the truth and everything is about to turn in its head for the family
The way Walt replied turning into Heisenberg "That's not going to happen", Hank was shocked like hell and had a scary face as well. Great acting to both actors
you can see the hurt that was disguised as anger in hank, he always loved walt like a real brother and supported and rooted for walt from the beginning & was there for him, to see walt turn into something that he never thought walt could become really hurt him
One of the best scenes in the series, the conversation is so simple, there's no background sound or music it's just the two of them, yet it's all so deafening at the same time.
You can see him switch to Heisenberg right before he says "That is not going to happen." That alpha energy was so shocking coming from Walter, it made Hank literally not recognize who he was talking to. The acting on this show was bananas.
2:36 the "I don't know who you are " part is fabulous, the feelings in these words are so deep, the way he switches from angry to confused is tremendous, couldn't be more perfect 👌
The only thing I wish this show did better is I wish we had more episodes of Hank vs Walt. We have this moment to end Ep 9 and then Hank dies Ep 14. It would of been awesome to see this fight last longer.
Respectfully disagree. The relatively quick transition from Hank finding out, to that inevitably leading to his death, was perfectly paced in my opinion. The intensity of Walt's family finally being torn apart as a result of his actions was best suited as fast-paced.
I think Dean Norris deserves immense appraise for his acting abilities especially during this scene. You can see the devastation in his eyes, looking at the person he thought he was family - while now he has realized he's one of the worst criminal masterminds imaginable, the very same one who he was after for so long. When he says "Good, rot you son of a b*" you clearly can see he's a broken man. The acting performance in Breaking Bad is stellar.
The falling out between hank and walt is one of the saddest parts of the show. For five seasons hank was like a brother to walt, and to see it get destroyed so quickly and the family fall apart is the saddest part of the show. You can see all of the love and emotion fade from hanks eyes here.
Love the cinematography. It’s the little things. Like how Walt’s face is lit in the final moments of the scene. One half of his face is in the light with an innocent expression, the other half is in the dark with a menacing look and a wound, implying danger. Alluding to Hank seeing Walt’s true two-faced nature for the first time up close and personal. Goes perfectly with the dialogue. No doubt this was planned.
One of the underappreciated things about this scene is the lack of music and the silence in between some statements making things feel more tense so bravo to the directors for going that way instead of what most do. Plus the already obvious great acting and this is a class scene all around
I feel like when Walt spitefully told Hank he will do everything in his power to escape prison, justice and his comeuppance by dying on his own terms and having the cancer get him first before Hank does is what triggered Hank’s obsession to capture him before that happens Walt created Hank’s death warrant and Hank signed it
Honestly, people talk about the "I am the danger" speech as the coldest lines in television, but the way Walt turned the conversation on Hank here at the end may top that for me. Just by a bit though.
What a scene, what a series.. without exaggerating, i don’t think there was ever in history series this well-rounded, and overall just solid from start to finish. I wonder will it ever be another that will top this one, in this genre.

Hank emasculated Walt for shits and giggles at every opportunity. He was a punchline. It doesn't excuse anything Walt did, but Hank was a massive piece of shit in his own way.

I started binge watching again because these videos were coming up in my recommended.
Game of thrones my ass. This, this is the best series of all time.
Fr, wtf is Game of Thrones compared to this. That aged so poorly compared to Breaking Bad 🐐
The Wire is better
Why are breaking bad fans so obsessed with got....sayin a lie 100 times won't make it truth... Even if you take last season in consideration breaking bad wins with a small margin.. If you remove the last 2 seasons breaking bad doesn't even come close to got, in nothing acting script story dialogs.. Nothing..
@@jonathan-gt9dz I'm a fan of both. Watched both religiously multiple times and made my decision. My own opinion. What you said is just dumb. You like got more, I like breaking bad more. World is full of different OPINIONS. Don't get too mad over nothing boy.
@Stephen Curry house is absolutely amazing, but breaking bad just beats it for me. But house is just insanely good I agree 100%.
It was so gratifying seeing this scene back in 2013. Years of buildup to this moment.
Agreed. BB was as close to perfect as any series I’ve ever seen.
That plane crash was caused by Walt!

Walt's "tread lightly" line is the most menacing, dangerous veiled threats ever! A classic!

I was that friend once i watched it few years ago love it.. Guess what im watching now?? Prison Break lol and yes i was that firend once again.
Correct part of him subconsciously did.
2:17 when Hank sees who he really has become.
One thing a lot of people seem to miss- Hank was potentially willing to work something out, as long as he got the kids out of that situation. 10/10 Uncle.
He didn’t mean he wanted to talk to Walt to work out a deal, he meant that he wanted to talk to interrogate the hell out of him
Having the kids there would put Walt in a really bad spot, junior would be super confused asking tons of questions with hank hounding Walt, Walt desperately trying to come up with excuses. There was no winning in that situation, junior looks up to hank like a hero, hank wouldn’t be throwing out wild accusations for no reason.
Hearing "tread carefully" from someone who orchestrated 10 murders within two minutes in various prisons without being there would be absolutely terrifying lol
The fact Walt never admits it but hank knows.
Adds that extra uncertainty tension.
Props to Hank's actor. He really pulled the betrayed act extremelly well.
This scene could win the Oscars for just the facial expressions alone, Hanks Astonishment and that transition from Walt to Heisenberg gave me chills..
I'm pretty sure they just glued cat hair to Hank's face here

I love how they frame it so that the whole time Walt and Hank look like they're the same height but then, right after he says the "tread lightly" line, it cuts to a low angle that makes Walt look taller.
Except Bryan Cranston is actually taller than Dean Norris
For me, the way the characters face and eyes are lit is powerful. You can see the heartbreak and anger in Hank's eyes and the malevolence in Walt's.
When hank said " it's you you are breaking bad " it was a life changing quote
That was the loudest face punch I’ve ever heard on tv.
SAME
The way he says "that is not going to happen" and the look on his face, and Hank goes "I don't know who you are" is just brilliant.
3:02 mid way through the sentence, he switches from walt to heisenberg. the change in tone was so noticeable i love this scene
One of the best plots ever in the history of tv shows... No game of thrones shit, no dr house, no nothing.... This show is priceless and legendary
0:57 damn hank like directly spit into his mouth
The way Walt replied turning into Heisenberg "That's not going to happen", Hank was shocked like hell and had a scary face as well.
Great acting to both actors
Dean Norris is suchhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh a good actor and so is bryan cranston they are literally such amazing actors i cannot wrap my head around it
you can see the hurt that was disguised as anger in hank, he always loved walt like a real brother and supported and rooted for walt from the beginning & was there for him, to see walt turn into something that he never thought walt could become really hurt him
One of the best scenes in the series, the conversation is so simple, there's no background sound or music it's just the two of them, yet it's all so deafening at the same time.
Hank almost cried when he saw walter turn to hiesenberg
You can see him switch to Heisenberg right before he says "That is not going to happen." That alpha energy was so shocking coming from Walter, it made Hank literally not recognize who he was talking to. The acting on this show was bananas.
you mean hank...
this show is just excellent.
@@abdulqudz89 Yeah thanks!
“Alpha energy”🤓☝️

2:36 the "I don't know who you are " part is fabulous, the feelings in these words are so deep, the way he switches from angry to confused is tremendous, couldn't be more perfect 👌
Dean Norris is a much better actor than people really give him credit for
That's one of the best threats in TV history.
Imagine how Hank felt after knowing Walt killed those 10 witnesses.
The only thing I wish this show did better is I wish we had more episodes of Hank vs Walt. We have this moment to end Ep 9 and then Hank dies Ep 14. It would of been awesome to see this fight last longer.
If only this was season 6 and season 5 would be also much longer 😤
Respectfully disagree. The relatively quick transition from Hank finding out, to that inevitably leading to his death, was perfectly paced in my opinion. The intensity of Walt's family finally being torn apart as a result of his actions was best suited as fast-paced.
@@allendrake6960 😡
Nah it had to be like this lol otherwise there was no point in Walt doing everything in his power to stop Hank from finding out
2:47 - 3:03 The transition from benign legitimate businessman to menacing drug lord is as seamless as Gus Fring...
Hank is freaking real man. He actually thought about saving his sister-in-law and her kids above all.
I forgot how well Dean Norris delivered “I don’t even know who you are” line, he dropped the macho bullshit and it was so believable!
Sometimes I forget just how ridiculously amazing the acting in this show is…
The falling out between hank and walt is one of the saddest parts of the show. For five seasons hank was like a brother to walt, and to see it get destroyed so quickly and the family fall apart is the saddest part of the show. You can see all of the love and emotion fade from hanks eyes here.
The Heisenberg uncertainty principle: if you don’t know who I am, tread lightly.
This is the moment Huell became Elliot
Now I'm imagining Huell with Elliot's ears.
2:35
The desperation in Hank’s voice is... heartbreaking and brutal.
"Would be to tread lightly", the inflection he added to Tread Lightly was genius.
1:13 Hank's face looks like he's about to cry when he heard his brother-in-law's cancer is back
0:00 Hank ready to slap cuffs on 3:04 Hank sh*tting his pants
This is a masterpiece of a story.
In a parallel universe Hank starts making meth and Walt starts to become suspicious and hunts him down.
The look in Hank's eyes and face show depressed, bewildered, shocked, betrayed and angry.
I feel like when Walt spitefully told Hank he will do everything in his power to escape prison, justice and his comeuppance by dying on his own terms and having the cancer get him first before Hank does is what triggered Hank’s obsession to capture him before that happens Walt created Hank’s death warrant and Hank signed it
This scene is fycking genius, and the fact that is one in 20 more is amazing
Honestly, people talk about the "I am the danger" speech as the coldest lines in television, but the way Walt turned the conversation on Hank here at the end may top that for me. Just by a bit though.
Marie - "Hank you're hard as a rock..."
Hank - "Jesus Marie, I'm not as hard as a rock, I'm as hard as a mineral!"
Crazy that Walt told him to “tread lightly” and shortly after Hank ended up getting murked right in front of Walt. 😯
This is truly the moment where the rocks became minerals...
What a scene, what a series.. without exaggerating, i don’t think there was ever in history series this well-rounded, and overall just solid from start to finish.
I wonder will it ever be another that will top this one, in this genre.
He was Walter White that whole conversation until he said that very last sentence, *"if you don't know who i am, then maybe your best course would be, to tread lightly"* thats when we saw Heisenberg come out.
"I'm sorry you feel that way" is the most unintentionally funny line in any TV show
Bro giving hank a warning even when he got punched like hell 😂
Brian Cranston is so good at switching from normal to serious and dark. Damn he's great.
Hank micro expressions are spot on. That subtle lick of the upper lip and slight twitch in the eye are so real!
Hank's actor is just amazing. So true reactions. We can actually feel how he felt.
Just look it from hank's perspective. How shocked he would have been to know it was walt all along. It would be such a mindfuck for him.
I have binged watched this three times, several years apart. Once with my sister. Maybe 3-4 years later with my husband. Then, after his death in 2015, with a friend whose son had given him the entire series on DVD. He'd had it for years & never watched it. I finally talked him into watching it, and after each episode he would say "OK, gotta watch another." I still cry at the end.
