  • Drew Lynch (as seen on America's Got Talent and TH-cam), a stand-up comedian known for incorporating and reforming his stutter, is challenged in the best way possible when an audience member tries to press him on a joke he makes about his wife. Watch as Drew breaks down the logic behind why woke mindsets don't work in a comedy setting and how he uses the moment to his advantage.

I often use self-deprecating humor with people who ask me questions that are none of their business.
I'm single, and not looking for a partner. I've been happily single for 9 years since my ex husband of 14 years dumped me for a younger woman.
When nosy people ask why I don't date, I use an old Groucho Marx joke, slightly altered.
I tell them I could _never_ date a man who would want a person like me as their girlfriend. Groucho said he'd never join a club who would allow a person such as himself to be a member.
I've had people get mad at me for what any reasonable person can see is a joke!
The truth is, I'm asexual and sex has always felt unnatural and unpleasant for me, and I have no libido. I knew that sex was expected in any traditional relationships, so I went along for the sake of my partners' well-being.
That doesn't fool anyone, no matter how much I tried to fit in, so out of fairness to others, I choose celibacy and I don't owe ANYONE an explanation! I'm not "sick" or "broken", I'm just ace and there are plenty of others like me who are tired of being treated like freaks.

If you want deep comedy you watch the greats like George Carlin or Richard Pryor. If you want comedy that mostly just consists of kicking down on whoever has the least power, you watch Chappelle. I take Carlin seriously. But I also take Chappelle seriously because of how he incites violence while hiding behind his trans "friend" who committed suicide shortly after he outed his "friend" as part of his comedy act. Real deep guy, that one. But a lousy friend though. Great for some yukks if you have a lot in common with bullies. @@TheDrewLynch - I have a response to your "End of the Video" question :: First off, I hate the whole "Woke" thing, not what it is specifically about, because my full understanding of it is vague, and for my own happiness, I intend to keep it that way, all I know id that whenever I hear sentences/topics with the word "Woke" in them, it always seems to be an irritating subject matter or opinion, to the point now where just hearing the word now immediately puts me off whatever it is about.
Now "P,C, culture, I have a pretty full understanding of it, and my opinion is that I think of it more of a "Way of speaking and behaving" rather than a "culture" - I feel like Culture should be about heritage and your "Roots" kind of thing. There is definitely a good time and a good place for utilizing PC behavior, like how certain times when you should remember to use your manners more, time and place for foul language -I feel like being PC is that sort of thing:
      - However I 100% believe that being PC has zero place in Comedy, jokes are rude, vulgar, offensive racist, prejudiced and that is just how it is, probably how it should be, Comedy incorporates Offensive material, in the way that Action movies incorporate violence, and how horror incorporates gore and terror - and in each of these things, the contents are appropriate and required
You can't have a horror movie without blood, guts and murd3r
You can't have Action without W3apons, car chases, fist fights etc
And so you cannot have Comedy without pushing the boundaries of offensiveness,
      - One example, who was a little extreme not entirely to my taste was Andrew Dice Clay
      - Another couple of examples, more to my tastes, were Eddie Murphy and Robin Williams
      - One of my all time favorite Comedians had NO QUALMS whatsoever about saying the down and dirty truth and offending people at all, and was also so very VERY often accurate as heck about his points, offensive as they were - George Carlin.
So, that is my take on your question from the end of the video, I hope that you actually manage to see it, I love your comedy, I discovered your work first from AGT tryouts, you were pretty funny and I always thought you were awesome, glad you did so well on that show. @RivetHead999 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

I appreciate that you’re able to laugh at that given what you’ve endured. I just had a discussion with someone recently regarding comedy and “situational awareness”
This person was saying comedians need to be careful with some jokes because you don’t know who’s in the audience or what “their trauma/triggers” might be. But, where do you draw that line? It came up with some video, and the person in the audience got up and started to leave and the comedian asked, started to make a joke about it (which isn’t uncommon, guy walking off during a set gets called out by comedian) and the guy said something like “I’m sorry, just hit kinda close to home” and made a comment about continuing and not let him ruin the show for everyone else.
But the thing that annoyed me was this person was saying how “if you don’t know, don’t go there” sort of things, and that reminded me of how a different comedian made a really good point responding to a heckler for being offensive about someone dying and he flat out said something like “you have any idea what I’ve been through? And this is how I learned to cope with …” and lists a few things like death of a spouse, abuse as a kid, and a couple other things as well.
It’s just frustrating when ONE single person has to feel the need to stand up and defend everyone because that one person might be offended.
Humor is truly a good way to cope. But it’s not for everyone.
I think it’s also the result of nowadays everyone thinks that not only their opinions should be heard by all, but approved by all as well, and that their opinion is correct as long as they’re offended by it.

Woke is an adjective derived from African-American Vernacular English (AAVE) originally meaning alertness to racial prejudice and discrimination.
Umbrella term for individuals who are engrossed by social justice and thinks of themselves as saviors with a moral high ground, but remain willfully ignorant to the irrationality of their claims and the problems they create. These individuals give special treatment to certain minorities in hopes of ending racism and perpetuate mental illnesses as the norm.

If you get easily offended, dont go to comedy shows. Especially not in the front row.
Unless of course, you are there to provide additional entertainment for the audience by embarrassing yourself on purpose. In which case, go for it
