I've spent 11 years now obsessing over making videos on the internet. It was only in the recent couple of years, where I saw glimpses of that exponential growth. Scaled a youtube channel to 200k subs in 6 months (now has 800k), ran a video editing agency with 10+ in house top class editors, posted a reel that nearly got a million views. But all that, only for the last 6 months to just go by with nothing to show for. People chasing overnight success don't calculate what it takes to continue that success after that night. If you don't fail, you don't learn, that's one thing I've learnt the hard way haha. Love the daily uploads, creating a community out here :)
I have this feeling with your videos. I feel like they are work for the mind. They are always recommended to me but I sometimes choose to watch something lighter instead. Something that brings me more dopamine i guess. However, when I watch one of your videos I feel my brain gets smarter in a way. It's something like a workout for my psyque. Feels good when I watch it tho!
Rushing towards success often blinds us to the growth along the way. As Lao Tzu taught, 'Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished.' Your life's rhythm is unique; embrace each step. True success unfolds in alignment with our deeper purpose.
What's your process for making such insightful videos? You aren't focused on the overstimulating editting or otherwise overeditted thumbnails, yet your videos seem so intriguing and hook me in. What's the structure you like to follow for ideating and otherwise structuring the video?
Another thing I might add (if I may) is that if you're not willing to spend years of your life dedicating yourself to something you want to achieve, maybe you don't want actually want to achieve it/maybe you should look for something else to achieve. ^Obviously there's more nuance than that, but I think for the most situations it holds true.
depending when you start counting my success is 19 years in the making or just about 3. Either way I'm at a stage where I do see efforts compounding and possibly turn into an overnight success.
Idk i watch all ur videos bro lol, im trynna figure out why no 10m views. I mean everyone is trying to be successful.. so making a challenge purely on that is good. I do think if uhad 1m views then u trust the person more naturally and its a self fulfilling thing yk but yea gl jay
How long have you got? Short answer; I’ll still be making stuff that’s having an impact at scale. Hopefully a team. Cool studio. Plenty of interesting ventures.
Thanks Jay, but this TH-cam game to me feels like I’m throwing darts at a dart board and the more you learn the better you throw, I be throwing these darts like a mf -edit I love TH-cam it is so fun! It feels like a video game
Ma,be J.K. Rolling isn't the success story anymore everyone is fond of. I try to listen to the rest but some Examples are more problematic than others :-( okay I watched further... And now I am interested where you are going with this with the downfall of Disney or the legal circus with the woman dying in Disneyland. Or maybe I have I really strange view of some things 🙈
watching your yesterday's and today's videos back to back is bliss Jay. See you at the top...eventually.
Impatience is the killer of success. What I make when I am impatient is almost never as good as what I make if I lovingly craft it.
Well said
These short videos are killer !
Bro that's a brilliant thumbnail!
I'm loving the daily vids
Thanks for the advice and the awesome metaphors ✌️

Thanks for the rational discussion. Much appreciated in the current world of gurus selling snake oil.

Yeah we expect immediate results and compare our performance to people who’ve been doing it for longer than we’ve been alive
It takes time… and I’m okay with that.
💯 Cheers Jay
My pleasure
Thank you for this video :)

@@thejayalto As long as I don't quit - right? 😅
kind of comes back to infinite game vs. finite game mentaliy
Your goals aren't unrealistic.
Your time-frames might very well be.
Change your time-frame.
Compounding works wonders if you have a long time-horizon.
Jesus, you got a new subscriber ❤
I appreciate you

See you tomorrow indeed
Nice video. Sorry for asking: What would be the 10 year overnight success goal for you? Genuinely interested!

@@thejayalto Cool! Thanks for answering. Sometimes I feel I know excactly where I would love to be, sometimes it feels more slippery.

Hey Jay!
Hello Tom
Am i mistaken, or is that 2 videos today?
in the time span of 24 hours yes but not really because it is his daily upload :)
No, only one. The thought of 2 videos makes my brain explode
See you tomorrow
You certainly will
I take issue with this… the Dyson vacuum cleaner is still shit.

No one’s perfect. I use examples that can teach us an important lesson. Certainly doesn’t mean everything they do is right.
