Thank you, I found a Serck intercooler on Paddock Spares Accessories and they are much cheaper at £354 for either the fast road or cross country, the part numbers are as follows, road 184 and x country is 185. Thank you for a great site.
Also found out today I can clean out my inlet manifold using oven cleaner, brilliant.
Gret stuff, thanx... Many years ago in Scotland i owned a converted series 1 with the two seat cab built on top of the engin (Perkins 6 pot) and a very handy flat bed with drop tail and sides.
looked very similar to a 101 Forward Control, am still bitching myself that i sold it !!!!
Nice video mate. Looking forward to the 101FC though :) . The intercooler will come into its own when you are towing. Thats when you'll notice lower EGT's and more torque. Cheers for sharing. :)

Instaling the upgraded intercooler was a smart move. I didn't think you would notice any change for the reasons you mentioned, but it helps keep everything nice and cool. Happy engin, happy driver. I believe you have tapped all the power the stock engin has, getting more power out of it would take some serious modifications to the inside of the engin, larger turbo or gearing on the diffs. This, in my opinion, is not worth it. Like you said, it is still a defender. Enjoy it for what it is.
On my series the performance upgrade is alot easier. Tuning the carb and replacing the dizzy is about it. Hoping to get a new dizzy imported to South Africa.

sounds like a deeper tone RS3. That 5 cylinder sound at times.
Been mentioned in comments below but obvious reason is that you would need to retune for the new IC. You should notice difference then. Other thing is, it’s hard to make a judgment just by your feel or for us to believe/understand based on your opinion. The true test would have been dyno results before and after. I just got one for my disco 300tdi. Hopefully make a difference. Thanks for video

You have to adjust the Diesel high pressure pump as well to get better performance and proper combustion ratio
The car looks good and sounds good. What improvements can be made on a 2.5L Petrol, the old engine? (Ex Military FFR)
If you had a boost gauge you would see an increase at the intake manifold. Your mileage will get better as your efficiency is better
With my TD4 2.2, the larger intercooler has led to a significantly longer life of my engine oil. I sent the oil to a laboratory after 10,000km and the engine oil that I sent in after 10,000km with a larger intercooler had significantly better values. While the other sample had already arrived at the end of wear. Meanwhile, I have been driving the large intercooler with 155hp and 450Nm for 100,000km without problems
Hey. Love the videos. But one thing that bugs me with upgrade vids. We all want to know 0to60 times. Before and after. Then 50to70. That way we can guage the difference.
Left hand drive so you can just pop your window down to enjoy the sound fully. Right hand drives we have to rely on our co pilot to do the window winding !! Lol

Even if you didn't get noticeable gains performance-wise, at least it looks better now! Definitely want to get a performance intercooler for my 300TDi at some point. Might drive it unmodified for a while once I get my license so I'll appreciate the mods more when I do them...
Btw, I feel like you may have mentioned this in a recent video but I can't remember for sure, will you be adding tirsbaek t shirts to your store any time soon? I would definitely get my hands on one if so. Maybe a black shirt with your logo on the left chest?
T-shirts/hoodies etc. is something we're intent on doing, but it takes a bit more time and effort to setup than just stickers for example.

how big would it be to remove the standard intercooler and replace with standard?
You'll need to get it mapped again to take advantage of the larger intercooler.

Have you had a new map to account for the new IC? I'm interested in finding out what the results are as I have the same Stage 2 from Dan and just did the intercooler upgrade.

when i changed to a 115mm intercooler core on my tdi300 i noticed lower egt's and way less heat soak over a longer drive and feeling way more punchy aswell the turbo making usable boost much sooner so this should feel a very noticible differance
that being said tho i have a much less restricive exhaust system on my rig so the differance is going to more noticable

Hi! Do you still have original clutch? And how many KMs you have on that one? I’m thinking of remapping my TD5 130 Defender... I’ve 205000KM on it.
Not sure if it's the original clutch, but I haven't changed it in the time I've had it. The car has 291,000kms on it, so I wouldn't be too worried.
With fitting such a big I/C covering all of the front of the radiator, have you had any problems with the engine running hotter than before?
More power equals more heat and with all the air now passing over the radiator being heated by the I/C I was wondering if you had noticed anything?

How did you manage to get the struds in place? mine doesn't fit anymore.
The struds were a pain to get back in! Just need to keep trying, it is a shitty advice or answer, but that is just how they are :/ - Nisse

No, I've had no issues.
Watching this makes me think the only point of the intercooler is for stage 3.. Was thinking of one for my stage 2 disco was hoping your face would light up 👎 On a side note you guys attending the 4x4 expo this year?

where im from your looking at close to 20 grand for just a 5.9 on its own i would go for a 7.3 power stroke which is pretty common here
At least get it boosting so the intercooler can do it's job 😂
Did you know that just the straight pipe would achieve the stage two re map
