      Christ never intended to start Christianity. This is where we went wrong in the first place. He came to include the rest of the world into the covenant with David.
      Christians abandon the old testament for strictly the new creating their own traditions and talking points. When in fact Christ is Jewish and taught Torah law.
      He told us even at a young age of 12 that he is about His Father's business and we should do the Will of the Father.
      How did people come to start to worship Him over God? His church is established and we build upon this rock but we have lost the true message to LOOK TO THE FATHER AND KEEP HIS PRECEPTS!

      And it is OVERWHELMINGLY Biblical - GOD Himself originated the festivities.
      It's BIBLICAL BOTH in precedent and in Church History - the Bible is theology - Church History is HOW that theology was worked out in daily life - the events that Explain how Acts and the Pauline letters were PRACTICED by the church would take a truck to move around - so they are NOT in your Bible - that is NO reason at all to negate them or pretend they don't exist - and IF the Historians of the church claim Christmas was celebrated long before 70-AD - why would the fact that it is NOT mentioned in Acts be an issue - neither is the Trinity and most of our Christian dogma.
      Every other major event in the history of the Jewish nation was celebrated by a feast - NOT as a Birthday buyt as an event of significant importance - "Festival of Lights" for example - NOT commanded at all by GOD, but celebrated by Jesus.

      Your question has three parts - ONE is correct - the others not.
      "@Paul Robinson The bible is history"
      The Bible's entire NT history from Acts to Rev. could be enacted in two weeks - and little of it touched on HOW the church worked out the teachings of Jesus and the apostles over a longer period of time - Pentecost was NOT a daily event. Dealing with CHURCH festivals is never mentioned. Doing so would require the separate festival practices of the Jewish and Gentile churches - an onerous task, the pickup truck of information that would require is NOT easily taken to church on Sunday.
      The problem is you are probably totally ignorant of the WAY the church work out what they were TOLD by the apostles and Jesus.
      EG - Jesus said to baptize in the name of the Father Son and Holy Spirit - NO ONE ever did that in the Bible. WHY?
      2)" and didn't God keep on telling the Jewish people to STOP practicing PAGAN customs ? "
      YES
      3) "" and didn't God keep on telling the Jewish people to STOP practicing PAGAN customs ? ""
      Did GOD leave it up to you to decide which practices were pagan and which were not?
      I doubt it.
      Neither Easter NOR Christmas are pagan in the least - the fact that the Roman Pagan religions copied Christianity - including the Dec 25th date of their hero's birth - shows that Christianity was well known for celebrating Christmas on the 25th - at LEAST by 70 AD when Mithracism was founded. Sol Invictra also used many Christian customs in their attempt to stop the growth of Christianity in their cities in its founding about 250 AD.
      SO what YOU think are pagan festivals are simply corrupted copies of Christianity .
      THIS does a couple things - IT established beyond doubt that the early church - even prior to AD 70 - celebrated Christmas and that they celebrated it on Dec 25

    to make this simple, no need for debate of any kind... Where, in all teaching of the Faith, does it say a single word that we should practice any of these man made traditions.. It doesnt mention easter, it doesnt mention thanksgiving, doesnt mention christmas, anywhere.. However in many places does the Word speak against such things.. Ok thats all I need to know. The choice is do we follow Jesus in truth no matter what happens, no matter what the world says, yes even your indoctrinated "scholars", yes even our own relatives... or do we make ourselves wise to be fools.. The answer is simply let go of all of it and follow the ONLY way to your Heavenly Father The Most High.
    You can have your earthly treasure you desire so much, keep your celebrations and your fun magical lies to tell your children. Consider yourselves wise if you please, and in the light of Truth you will be shown what you are. I desire above all things to know Salvation, above everything, I seek after it with fear and trembling, I know I am unworthy and wicked, and I know I am in this unworthy and wicked world right now, but I will not pick the world over the truth, because in the light of truth it is worthless.

    The merchants misused the temple and turned it into a marketplace. I don't recall Jesus leveling the temple and crushing the merchants beneath the rubble.
    If I recall my Sunday School correctly, he made a whip and drove the merchants from the temple, cleansing the temple to its original purpose. So too should we drive out the materialism, gluttony, and greed that have seeped into this celebration from our own lives.

    • @AwakeningWebSeries
      @AwakeningWebSeries 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Crosshair84 Yes, he didn't do that to the temple until AFTER his resurrection. But also, the Temple was built to worship God, the original pagan origins of "Christmas" or Saturnalia, Yule, etc etc were meant to worship pagan gods, so how do you cleanse something that was originally already unclean? Can we use pagan altars to worship God? see, that argument is weak. Christmas was banned across the west for a very long time and in the US, Christians didn't celebrate Christmas. Christmas is fairly new in the US as a holiday since 1870, Christmas was once banned because of the orgies, murder and lawlessness that occurred with Saturnalia.

    To whomever will read this - I commented on this video by citing scripture (Deut. 12:30-32) that warns anyone not to bring any pagan practices into our walk and worship of our God. Nor are we even to ask or look into what these practices are. In other words, our God does not want us to to get the wondering spiritual eye and gaze fondly at what the heathen are doing. Christmas is one of those pagan rituals that the church decided to wrap around our savior Jesus.
    A fellow commenter erroneously responded to my comment and I believe my response back to him may edify others. To God be all the glory and my His Spirit quicken your heart:
    Hi ... , I do agree that context is very important. I consider context a vital tool in understanding the scriptures but we also know that it is through the Holy Spirit that God reveals His words of instruction to those who draw near to His word.
    And a big part of that happens when we come
    to understand the nature and character of our God. He is a jealous God who does not change, who does not lie, and is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
    The passage I cited in Deut. 12 is as much a testament to the character of God as much as it is instruction for all who choose to worship the one true God - whether Jew or Gentile. Read 1st Cor. 10:1-22 and Jude 1:3-7 among other New Testament passages.
    What was applied to Israel then also is how we are to walk. It defies belief how the mainstream church has fooled itself into believing that God sent His Son into the world so that it (the “church”) could do just as Israel has done. Anyone who calls himself a pastor and espouses such is not of God.
    These types of pastors who have been self chosen or chosen by men have no fear for God because they do not heed His instruction nor do they teach others to heed it. This is a man whom God will use:
    "But to this one I will look, To him who is humble and contrite of spirit, and who trembles at My word.”
    ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭66:2
    To tremble in this passage is to be circumspect, reverent, and obedient - placing His word above all else. God did not give His Son on our behalf so that we could do as we please. To mock His gift. This gift of salvation is offered to us to keep us from what is to come.
    God’s plan did not change, the final judgement is coming. But He provided a way for us and sadly many are abusing this gift. Those that do not heed His words make a mockery of the final atonement which is Christ Jesus.
    If you cannot see this in your being you do not have the Holy Spirit in you and you are not walking according to Christ. He and the Holy Spirit are one with the Father, there is no confusion. The Holy Spirit will pull you away from anything not of God. But man being simple clay actually think his intellect qualifies us to be on an equal plane with the potter. The scriptures warn of this folly:
    “because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so, and those who are in the flesh cannot please God.”
    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:7-8‬
    Paul warned the church at Corinth, a church that was made up primarily of Gentiles, and us today for that matter not to exceed what was already written in the scriptures, remember, the New Testament had not been written yet:
    “And these things, brethren, I did transfer to myself and to Apollos because of you, that in us ye may learn not to think above that which hath been written, that ye may not be puffed up one for one against the other,”
    ‭‭1 Cor. 4:6
    Because in those words written by Moses and the prophets is everything that tells us about the God we are to worship, our salvation which our Lord Jesus, how we are to love God and each other our, and examples and admonitions as Paul alluded to in 1 Cor. 10. Jesus spoke of Himself and His sacrifice through Moses and the prophets while on the road to Emmaus. He tells us these same things even today.
    The problem is the church has left it’s security in the word of God and over the years has created false doctrines, vain philosophies, and, traditions like these holidays and God will never be pleased with it. On the contrary. The entire New Testament is rife with these warnings. And these same pastors and religious organization teach the followers to do the same thing.
    The truth is Christmas is a man-made holiday meant to please the flesh. What do trees, plants hanging from ceilings, presents wrapped in shiny paper, etc. have to do with being obedient to God’s Word which is Christ come in the flesh? If Jesus were to walk into you home and see the trappings of Christmas He would be angry with you for having used Him as an excuse to violate His Fathers commands. I have a feeling if you knew He was coming over ahead of time you’d remove all it before he got there. But this is what I’m writing to you of, the scriptures speak to us, blessing us and also loving us by giving us advance warning of what is to come.
    Christmas is a fleshly practice of excess, pleasing to the eyes and earthly feeling. The Catholic Church and powers of Rome created it. They mixed pagan practices with their vile relationship with God, violating His word. The very salvation He gave the world they mixed with evil.
    And like lemmings they church today blindly and willfully follows. The blood of those who will be lost is on the hands of those who have led and are leading the sheep. Please consider your stance with these false practices - Christmas, Easter, and, Halloween. I’m praying that God will open your spiritual eyes to understand who it is you say you worship.
    Separate yourself from this world, the time is at hand. The scriptures were written as a warning and a guide.
    Be holy, be angry and do not sin. Heed God’s instruction and His love for you.
    Don’t make a mockery of His gift to you. That is the only gift you need and the only gift you should give others.
    Love you in truth,
    Mike

If you are already in Christ, then realize that you are DEAD to the law(old covenant). The letter(law) kills but the Spirit gives life! It's no longer about rules but rather a relationship. Just go love God and love people.

      Hi, Wang Chung - I’m with you on God’s grace, but what you are mistakenly saying is it’s ok for you to misuse the grace that saves you in order to indulge your worldly walk. We are indeed only saved through the final shedding of blood through Christ - this we agree on but do not be so foolish as to think that God will allow the grace that He gave to be trampled under foot by you or anyone else. Jesus forgave the adulteress but also told her not to sin anymore just as He told others, and us for that matter. Heed what Paul wrote to the church at Rome:
      “What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin so that grace may increase? May it never be! How shall we who died to sin still live in it?
      Romans 6:1-2
      What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? May it never be! Do you not know that when you present yourselves to someone as slaves for obedience, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin resulting in death, or of obedience resulting in righteousness?”
      ‭‭Romans‬ ‭6:15-16‬
      Don’t be misled in believing that God’s word is a religion because to do so is throw out extremely important words of God. Paul exhorts us in this:
      “Now these things, brethren, I have figuratively applied to myself and Apollos for your sakes, so that in us you may learn not to exceed what is written, so that no one of you will become arrogant in behalf of one against the other.”
      ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭4:6‬
      Paul is speaking of what was written in the Old Testament as the New Testament has not been written at that point. Also read 1st. Cor. 4:6 and 1st. Cor. 10:1-22.
      There is so much that can be pointed out in the scriptures regarding the double edged sword which is the word of God and which is His grace and His wrath. Be obedient to His word. Study and you will show yourself approved. God bless you in His word.
      Mike

      Hi Flatlander - God bless!

    • @mborjon1009

      Wang Chun, I want to further elaborate on what Paul wrote to the church at Corinth.
      “Now these things, brethren, I have figuratively applied to myself and Apollos for your sakes, so that in us you may learn not to exceed what is written, so that no one of you will become arrogant in behalf of one against the other.”
      ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭4:6‬
      This church was predominantly made up of Gentiles. What Paul is doing is telling these Gentiles to believe on what was written in the Old Testament and stay planted in those words. He knew that what he would write concerning Jesus and our salvation through His blood would be found in the Old Testament. So he urged them to use those words in the OT only. They are the foundation of our faith. The church at Corinth was rife with believers arrogantly adding their own opinions, pagan philosophies, etc. into the mix so Paul felt it necessary to let them know to stick to the words written in the OT. The gospels, epistles, and books of the NT had not been written at that point and this is important to note.
      The same issue is happening today and you see it in the western church, on TH-cam, etc. Paul dealt with then and we’re dealing with it today.
      But I also want to say, as it goes without saying, that the gospels, epistles, and books of the New Testament are also the inspired word of God. They were written as a testament and witness of Gods saving plan. God bless.

    Christmas in swedish is called jul. Before we became christians we had a different winter holiday called juul. But apart from the food, swedish christmas songs and stuff like that we celebrate christmas the universal way. But it's weird that we replaced juul with a new holiday but called it by the same name.
    (A little viking trivia: Apparently the juul festival was WILD, people partyed for three days straight and lots of strong alcohol were consumed. Walls were painted with horse blood. Even guests were splashed with horse blood. And strangers passing by were welcomed and encouraged to stay, especially if they came from somewhere far away, so that they could tell stories and tales that the hosts and other guests hadn't heard before.)

      @Jane Dough except none of the Dec 25th alarmism from certain modern groups is anything to get upset about. the old canard that Catholicism in particular (or Christianity in general) is somehow rooted in some kind of evil paganism, is completely based on bigoted speculation, not evidence based historical analysis. it's like the theory that a cabal of "Jews" is ruling the world right now. using confirmation bias and conspiratorial thinking, one can come to any conclusion one likes. the reality is that the celebration of the birth of Jesus is an ancient Christian costume, it was not forced upon the world through some kind of evil bureaucracy, it wasn't a plot to introduce worship of some pagan deities under the name of Jesus. it wasn't some attempt to dilute a "pure" biblical Christianity that somehow lacked rituals, hierarchy, traditions, rules, etc (such a Christianity never actually existed, all the heretical cults had their equivalents of what ancient Catholicism/Orthodoxy had and none of them resembled say, modern day groups like the Seventh Day Adventists, or congregationalist protestants or house church fundamentalists, the type usually raising these concerns). Nobody can yet point to solid evidence that before Christianity chose that date, there was already a pagan celebration of one of their gods on that day. And everybody forgets about the Orthodox. is Jan 6 also an evil, pagan date? The Puritans wanted to ban Christmas because they hated the Catholic Church. since when do they get to define this religion forever?

    I agree with your point about the Hebraic Roots guys. Sometimes their message can make people think they're not saved. But it sounds like you're approaching the matter in the same manner of ridicule.
    Good point about pagan customs being not necessarily a bad thing (I might have paraphrased that poorly). For example, all cultures throughout history used the sun, moon, and stars in their calendars. This does not mean paying attention to constellations, moon phases, and stellar events is a bad thing.
    There are strong arguments about the Birth of Christ not being on December 25, so it is worthwhile for Christians to study that out. Following traditions is perfectly fine except where it conflicts with the law. This is not legalism.

And has nothing to do with caning tire. It is not about physical kneeling, but worship in the heart. When we come to the tree for the gift, not always and not everyone, but usually and mostly not thinking about Jesus Christ. Also, if person a Christian, it is not important birthday of the Lord, but his death for our sin and resurrection. A couple of times in the video it mentions that doing something that some people meant for evil, doesn't make it evil, if its meant for good. Under which lies the presupposition that Christmas is meant for good. Just to clarify, what makes it good? I mean, from a scriptural perspective? I know it makes people FEEL good, but that doesn't make it good, that would be simply arbitrary. I can't find scriptural support for inventing holidays and labelling them as Christian - it might be there I just don't know where it is.
    The points made about the trees and idols in the Prophets is spot on though; the bible doesn't condemn pretty trees but does condemn idolatry.
    I don't enjoy Xmas because I am poor and have no family and have never been able to enjoy the materialism that everyone else enjoys. Every year it feels like the satisfaction I can't have is being rubbed in my face. So although it hurts, it doesn't make it bad on its own. But I can't see any good in it or reason to support it.

      Lightning Sonic Because we are not under the Old testament and therefore are obliged to OT ceremonial law and liturgy. The church as a result has oriented its feasts and fasts around Christ. Instead of the old pascha we have the new. We also now have Christmas

    • @LightningSonic
      @LightningSonic 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      TheIconodule Hey dear brother, the church today is full of traditions of men.
      It actually adopted much of 'lawlessness' at the end of the first century and early second century with Marcion and other rebels.
      Below I share some of the knowledge I've learned by God's grace. There's some great info, so please don't skip it if you should have the time. I pray you're blessed by it and open to receive new revelation.
      What is really the definition of sin? The definition, as given in 1 John 3:4, is "the transgression of the law".
      Jesus never did away with the old, per se, he reformed the Jewish faith. That's why he said He came not to abolish the Law or the Prophets, but to fulfill them (Mat. 5:17).
      As I'm sure you know, the 'twelve' kept the Feasts, after Jesus' ascension. Acts chronicles this. And in 1 Cor. 5:7-8 Paul speaks about observing the Passover feast.
      While it's true that the feasts are only a shadow of Messiah Jesus (Col. 2:16-17), they DO reflect Him in SO many ways.
      It's possible that when Paul said "do not let anyone pass judgment on you..." he was saying that no Christian is either saved or condemned by how much or how little of Torah/Law he keeps. (We must remember when we read that passage that Paul was an zealous Pharisaic [though without leaven] Jew who kept the Feasts and kosher all his life...)
      Jesus died as our 'Passover Lamb' literally on Passover. He also literally resurrected on Firstfruits. (He's called the "firstfruits" of the resurrection, right? I love it.)
      Then, 50 days after that He gave the Spirit to His people on Pentecost. How amazing!
      And his people observed Passover in a new spiritual way, not the strict way as directed in the Torah, indicating a change in the way we're to keep the Feasts.
      Recently, I spend some time studying these Feasts as part of an essay and I've really grown closer to the Lord through it. Please take my word for it.
      Some nuggets I'd like to share with you:
      Jesus and also at least Paul said that at the end of the age the angels will 'gather' his people.
      Tabernacles was originally called 'Ingathering' (see Exo. 23:16).
      And in Revelation we read about the earth being 'ripe' for harvest. The Son of Man (Jesus) is going to reap the earth when it's fully ripe, and all the wicked will be crushed in the winepress of God.
      On this point, we should know that in Israel there are two primary harvests in the Fall time:
      grapes and olives. (I'm sure glad we're the olives!)
      Most definitely Jesus will return in the fall some year in the future. And he'll fulfill the remaining Feasts:
      Trumpets, Day of Atonement and Tabernacles.
      In Zechariah we read that during Jesus' millennial reign He will require ALL nations to gather to Israel for the Feast of Tabernacles . . . because Jesus will literally 'tabernacle' on the earth! MMMMMHH!!!
      So much more.
      I hope I wasn't too sporadic here.
      May God bless you greatly!

      Christ never intended to start Christianity. This is where we went wrong in the first place. He came to include the rest of the world into the covenant with David.
      Christians abandon the old testament for strictly the new creating their own traditions and talking points. When in fact Christ is Jewish and taught Jewish law.

If we are Christians meaning followers of the Messiah, we should follow His footsteps. I have never read anywhere in the Bible He told us to remember His birth. He said this "And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.”. He said this during preparation for Passover during the feast of unleavened bread. Not on sun day worship AND NO X-MAS birth of the Messiah SINCE HE WAS NEVER BORN ON DEC 25TH and the Bible tells us when He was born

      6 Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, O Lord; thou art great, and thy name is great in might.
      7 Who would not fear thee, O King of nations? for to thee doth it appertain: forasmuch as among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their kingdoms, there is none like unto thee.
      8 But they are altogether brutish and foolish: the stock is a doctrine of vanities.
      9 Silver spread into plates is brought from Tarshish, and gold from Uphaz, the work of the workman, and of the hands of the founder: blue and purple is their clothing: they are all the work of cunning men.
      10 But the Lord is the true God, he is the living God, and an everlasting king: at his wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to abide his indignation.
      11 Thus shall ye say unto them, The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth, even they shall perish from the earth, and from under these heavens.
      12 He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by his discretion.
      13 When he uttereth his voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens, and he causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures.
      14 Every man is brutish in his knowledge: every founder is confounded by the graven image: for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them.
      15 They are vanity, and the work of errors: in the time of their visitation they shall perish.

    00:41 🌲 *Misinterpretations of Jeremiah 10:24 are used to claim that decorating a Christmas tree is forbidden, but the context reveals it's about crafting idols, not Christmas trees.*
    02:35 🎁 *Isaiah 44:14-15 is often misconstrued to argue that placing gifts under Christmas trees is akin to pagan worship, but the passage refers to idol worship, not Christmas traditions.*
    04:12 🌳 *Jeremiah 3:13 condemning scattering favors under every green tree is about bowing before idols, not placing gifts under pine trees for Christmas.*
    06:04 💬 *Arguments against Christmas traditions based on what they mean to pagans are criticized; the speaker asserts that the meaning to God is what truly matters.*
    07:52 🎄 *The absence of a specific biblical command for celebrating the Messiah's birthday is refuted, comparing it to the lack of commands for modern activities like driving cars or using the internet.*
    08:19 🎁 *Criticizing Christmas due to its materialistic aspects is countered by the example of communion, where misuse didn't lead to abandonment; the focus should be on the true meaning of the holiday.*

      Sol Invictus ("Unconquered Sun") was the official sun god of the later Roman Empire and a patron of soldiers. On 25 December AD 274, the Roman emperor Aurelian made it an official cult alongside the traditional Roman cults. Scholars disagree about whether the new deity was a refoundation of the ancient Latin cult of Sol, a revival of the cult of Elagabalus, or completely new. The god was favored by emperors after Aurelian and appeared on their coins until Constantine I. The last inscription referring to Sol Invictus dates to AD 387, and there were enough devotees in the fifth century that the Christian theologian Augustine found it necessary to preach against them.
      Invictus ("unconquered, invincible") was an epithet utilized for several Roman deities, including Jupiter, Mars, Hercules, Apollo, and Silvanus. It had been in use from the 3rd century BC. The Roman cult to Sol is continuous from the "earliest history" of the city until the institution of the Christian cult as the exclusive state religion. Scholars have sometimes regarded the traditional Sol and Sol Invictus as two separate deities, but the rejection of this view by S. E. Hijmans has found supporters.

The principal only apologized that the student's parents weren't given advance knowledge so they could have the opportunity to opt out, he didn't apologize that it took place. It is my opinion that the push to reduce human population 'for the planet', the abortion cult, and all the other anti-human propaganda are all tied in with Moloch and his spiritual consorts. YOU know this HOW? YOU have a vivid imagination and NOT a single fact - there are three ways of calculating Jesus death - and all three of them are between Dec 25 and Jan 6 - and THREE different calculations makes for a pretty accurate date - whereas you have exactly NOTHING to support your unfounded opinion.
      Dead of winter in Bethlehrm is like N Florida - David cared fro his father's sheep a whole LOT further NORTH than Bethlehem - ALL winter - OUTside.
      Given that that Bethlehem is like N FLA - they still raise sheep outside over winter in Montana then also central ONTARIO.
      SHEEP have this nice warm coat . . .
      Please provide any in formation you have that would suggest a warmer time for Jesus birth . . .
      Here's evidence number 1:
      ""The Gospel of Luke reports that Zecharias served in the “course of Abias” which scripture records as the 8th course among the 24 priestly courses. Each shift of priests served one week in the temple twice each year, with the course of Abias serving during the 8th and 32nd week in the annual cycle. Josef Heinrich Friedlieb has established that the first priestly course of Jojarib was on duty during the destruction of Jerusalem on the ninth day of the Jewish month of Av, leaving the priestly course of Jojarib on duty during the second week of Av. That leaves the priestly course of Abias (the course of Zecharias) undoubtedly serving during the second week of the Jewish month of Tishri, on the very week of the Day of Atonement, on the tenth day of Tishri. In our calendar, the Day of Atonement would land anywhere from Sept 22 to Oct 8. Zecharias and Elizabeth conceived John the Baptist immediately after Zacharias served his course. This means that John the Baptist would have been conceived somewhere around the end of September. The second-century Protoevangelium of James, although not perfect, also confirms a late September conception of John the Baptist by depicting Zecharias as serving then, and one can see that it is associating him with the Day of Atonement." Six months from that point lands Mary's conception at the end of March. There's more. Atleast 50 years before Aurelian tried to institute his feast day, we have the Chronographiai from Sexto Julio Africano, recording Mary's conception as being in late March. We also have Pope St Telesphorus (bishop of Rome from 126-137 AD) additionally instituting the tradition of Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve in the Liber Pontificalis. Then there's Theophilius (115-181 AD) who was the bishop of Caesarea in Palestine, who says: “We ought to celebrate the birthday of Our Lord on what day soever the 25th of December shall happen.” More? Hippolytus (170-240 AD) writes that the birth of Christ happened on December 25th, and in what reign."
      From Early church History, ONE of several citations, Evidence #2
      " this celebration post-dates Christian celebrations of the same date. Observation of this date by Christians goes back at least as far as AD 202 by Hippolytus of Rome in his Commentary on Daniel:
      For the first advent of our Lord in the flesh, when he was born in Bethlehem, eight days before the kalends of January [December 25th], the 4th day of the week [Wednesday], while Augustus was in his forty-second year, [2 or 3 BC] but from Adam five thousand and five hundred years. He suffered in the thirty third year, 8 days before the kalends of April [March 25th], the Day of Preparation, the fifteenth year of Tiberius Caesar [29 or 30 AD], while Rufus and Roubellion and Gaius Caesar, for the 4th time, and Gaius Cestius Saturninus were consuls."
      From the wisdom of the Jewish traditions, Evidence #3
      " what is the real source of the 25 December date? It is an extra-biblical Jewish tradition, called the ‘integral year’. This means that a prophet’s lifespan would be an exact number of years, so he would die on an anniversary of his conception, the real beginning of life. Jesus’ death was calculated as 25 March by the Western church, and 6 April by the Eastern Church. Therefore this same date was celebrated as the date Christ was conceived. Nine months later is 25 December or 6 January, and the latter date is still celebrated in the Eastern Orthodox church (and many branches of the Western church celebrate ‘Epiphany’ on the same day, now to commemorate the arrival of the unknown number of magi and their three gifts).
      For example, the leading Church Father Augustine explicitly taught this integral year concept:
      For He is believed to have been conceived on the 25th of March, upon which day also He suffered; so the womb of the Virgin, in which He was conceived, where no one of mortals was begotten, corresponds to the new grave in which He was buried, wherein was never man laid, neither before nor since. But He was born, according to tradition, upon December the 25th.2

      Here is just one of many:
      mystery-babylon.org/easter.html
      Here is an excerpt from the above linked site:
      "One source claims that: “The word Easter is of Saxon origin, Eastra, the goddess of spring, in whose honour sacrifices were offered…”
      We now see another, more popular meaning of Easter: it comes from the ancient goddess of pagan Babylon! “In Babylonia… the goddess of spring was called Ishtar.”
      And, we also see that: “Ishtar was actually pronounced “Easter” in most Semitic dialects…”
      The fact is that no one knows for certain.It could be "Eastra",or "Ishtar",or something entirely else, but it does'nt really matter.Names from the pagan mystery religion have changed as different cultures rise and fall.The names change but the premise is still the same,the mystery religion was created long ago in an effort to keep people from learning the Truth.

      Skwerrlly Your sources doesn't cite any scholars, and it is simply wrong. The only source to ever say the worship of this goddess existed was Saint Bede in the 7th century, and we can’t find any reference, Christian or pagan, to this goddess outside of Bede. Because of this, many scholars think he just made it up or he had some goddess in mine but was terribly confused.
      See: Frank Stenton, Anglo-Saxon England, Page 98
      Carole Cusack, The Goddess Eostre:
      Bede’s Text and Contemporary Pagan Tradition
      Second, there is no connection to Ishtar. It is based on a silly word association, not on tangible evidence. Easter most likely comes from the germanic word Eosturmonath, which was the Fourth month of the Old English calendar.

      Christmas shall we?
      It's apparent to me that you want to continue in the direction of my reference to the Easter/Ishtar name connection,(thus avoiding the real debate about Christmas being Pagan),so I will oblige you this one last time by posting this excerpt from Alexander Hislops' "The Two Babylons".
      "Then look at Easter. What means the term Easter itself? It is not a Christian name. It bears its Chaldean origin on its very forehead. Easter is nothing else than Astarte, one of the titles of Beltis, the queen of heaven, whose name, as pronounced by the people Nineveh, was evidently identical with that now in common use in this country. That name, as found by Layard on the Assyrian monuments, is Ishtar. "
      Hislops' book can be found here in PDF(and other) form,which can be opened and read online or saved for free to a computer and read at ones' leisure:
      ia800309.us.archive.org/6/items/theTwoBabylons/TheTwoBabylons.pdf
      I urge everyone viewing this to take the time to read "The Two Babylons" which exposes the connection between the ancient mystery religion and the modern Roman "church".

      New flash, Hislop didn't give any sources. He just made up nonsense and passed it off as fact. By you quoting him, you only show you are as ignorant as him... Michael M
      Isaiah 5
      New King James Version (NKJV)
      God’s Disappointing Vineyard
      5 Now let me sing to my Well-beloved
      A song of my Beloved regarding His vineyard:
      My Well-beloved has a vineyard
      On a very fruitful hill.
      2 He dug it up and cleared out its stones,
      And planted it with the choicest vine.
      He built a tower in its midst,
      And also made a winepress in it;
      So He expected it to bring forthgood grapes,
      But it brought forth wild grapes.
      3 “And now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem and men of Judah,
      Judge, please, between Me and My vineyard.
      4 What more could have been done to My vineyard
      That I have not done in it?
      Why then, when I expected it to bring forth good grapes,
      Did it bring forth wild grapes?
      5 And now, please let Me tell you what I will do to My vineyard:
      I will take away its hedge, and it shall be burned;
      And break down its wall, and it shall be trampled down.
      6 I will lay it waste;
      It shall not be pruned or dug,
      But there shall come up briers and thorns.
      I will also command the clouds
      That they rain no rain on it.”
      7 For the vineyard of the Lord of hosts is the house of Israel,
      And the men of Judah are His pleasant plant.
      He looked for justice, but behold, oppression;
      For righteousness, but behold, a cry for help.
      Impending Judgment on Excesses
      8 Woe to those who join house to house;
      They add field to field,
      Till there is no place
      Where they may dwell alone in the midst of the land!
      9 In my hearing the Lord of hostssaid,
      “Truly, many houses shall be desolate,
      Great and beautiful ones, without inhabitant.
      10 For ten acres of vineyard shall yield one bath,
      And a homer of seed shall yield one ephah.”
      11 Woe to those who rise early in the morning,
      That they may follow intoxicating drink;
      Who continue until night, till wine inflames them!
      12 The harp and the strings,
      The tambourine and flute,
      And wine are in their feasts;
      But they do not regard the work of the Lord,
      Nor consider the operation of His hands.
      13 Therefore my people have gone into captivity,
      Because they have no knowledge;
      Their honorable men are famished,
      And their multitude dried up with thirst.
      14 Therefore Sheol has enlarged itself
      And opened its mouth beyond measure;
      Their glory and their multitude and their pomp,
      And he who is jubilant, shall descend into it.
      15 People shall be brought down,
      Each man shall be humbled,
      And the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled.
      16 But the Lord of hosts shall be exalted in judgment,
      And God who is holy shall be hallowed in righteousness.
      17 Then the lambs shall feed in their pasture,
      And in the waste places of the fat ones strangers shall eat.
      18 Woe to those who draw iniquity with cords of vanity,
      And sin as if with a cart rope;
      19 That say, “Let Him make speed andhasten His work,
      That we may see it;
      And let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw near and come,
      That we may know it.”
      20 Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil;
      Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness;
      Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
      21 Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes,
      And prudent in their own sight!
      22 Woe to men mighty at drinking wine,
      Woe to men valiant for mixing intoxicating drink,
      23 Who justify the wicked for a bribe,
      And take away justice from the righteous man!
      24 Therefore, as the fire devours the stubble,
      And the flame consumes the chaff,
      So their root will be as rottenness,
      And their blossom will ascend like dust;
      Because they have rejected the law of the Lord of hosts,
      And despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.
      25 Therefore the anger of the Lord is aroused against His people;
      He has stretched out His hand against them
      And stricken them,
      And the hills trembled.
      Their carcasses were as refuse in the midst of the streets.
      For all this His anger is not turned away,
      But His hand is stretched out still.
      26 He will lift up a banner to the nations from afar,
      And will whistle to them from the end of the earth;
      Surely they shall come with speed, swiftly.
      27 No one will be weary or stumble among them,
      No one will slumber or sleep;
      Nor will the belt on their loins be loosed,
      Nor the strap of their sandals be broken;
      28 Whose arrows are sharp,
      And all their bows bent;
      Their horses’ hooves will seem like flint,
      And their wheels like a whirlwind.
      29 Their roaring will be like a lion,
      They will roar like young lions;
      Yes, they will roar
      And lay hold of the prey;
      They will carry it away safely,
      And no one will deliver.
      30 In that day they will roar against them
      Like the roaring of the sea.
      And if one looks to the land,
      Behold, darkness and sorrow;
      And the light is darkened by the clouds.

    Forgotten reformation doctrine: regulative principle of Worship
    Jeremiah 7:31
    “Which I commanded them not, neither came it into my heart”
    men have devised for themselves various modes of worship, and have given themselves the liberty to seek a way of their own to pacify God.
    This reason ought to be carefully noticed, for God here cuts off from men every occasion for making evasions, since he condemns by this one phrase, “I have not commanded them,” whatever the Jews devised. There is then no other argument needed to condemn superstitions, than that they are not commanded by God: for when men allow themselves to worship God according to their own fancies, and attend not to his commands, they pervert true religion. And if this principle was adopted by the Papists, all those fictitious modes of worship, in which they absurdly exercise themselves, would fall to the ground. It is indeed a horrible thing for the Papists to seek to discharge their duties towards God by performing their own superstitions. There is an immense number of them, as it is well known, and as it manifestly appears. Were they to admit this principle, that we cannot rightly worship God except by obeying his word, they would be delivered from their deep abyss of error. The Prophet’s words then are very important, when he says, that God had commanded no such thing, and that it never came to his mind; as though he had said, that men assume too much wisdom, when they devise what he never required, nay, what he never knew. It is indeed certain, that there was nothing hid from God, even before it was done: but God here assumes the character of man, as though he had said, that what the Jews devised was unknown to him, as his own law was sufficient.
    Christmas in many ways is the error of Cain, nadab & abihu, and many others. God commands very specificity how to worship him in his word, yet man has corrupted the true ways of holiness. Instead we want to offer up whatever we want. These men I listed in scripture are prime examples.

      YOU are correct that it was up to 2 years after Christmas the wise men (That is NOT how the Bible described them) came to Jesus' HOUSE.
      YOU are seriously in error IF you doubt the Dec ~25 date - for a wide variety of reasons - there are many that all coalesce around that date - everything from the Birth of John the Baptist - the shepherd being close by Bethlehem in winter - the teaching of the early church etc - so your date concept is unbiblical.
      DEC 25 is the established fate , the practical date, the historical date and the computed date.

Although i do believe it does have pegan elements, this doesn't make it sinful or wrong to celebrate it. Upon further reading you’ll see that we are supposed to celebrate the feast of dedication not Christmas. Dedication in Hebrew is Hanukkah ...but the book of Maccabees never mentioned the 9 candle menoriah...that comes from traditions of men.

    Atheist opinion: I don't see any of these as reasons for why Christmas is not pagan, but rather why celebrating Christmas, pagan origins or not, isn't worshipping false idols.
    Practitioners of Yule never even cut the trees down. They decorated live trees in the forest to worship nature/nature gods, which can just be seen as an expression of the monotheistic christian god. If pagans practiced something similar to communion, that doesn't corrupt the Christian tradition. If anything, the ritualization of nature is something christians can learn from. Christmas tree farming takes a lot of nutrients from the earth just to get tossed in the trash/burnt and the Yule practice, or any replanting practices, would actually be a symbollic tradition that I'm sure god would favor.

    I agree with this video. When God first showed Noah the rainbow after the flood promising Noah and his family and future generations the promise he would never flood the world again. Right? The very first rainbow was from God, but just because the homosexual community uses it as gay pride it is now a gay symbol? Of course not. The rainbow is the symbol of God's promise, he did not make it for the gay community. Just like Christians that celebrate Christmas with a tree, lights, decorations ect not thinking of it as being a worship to some pagan god. No scripture does not tell us to tell celebrate the birth of Christ but it doesn't say not to. When Jesus was born was there not a celebration in the sky with angels? Did sheperads not show up to be part of Jesus birth? Why would the angels tell the sheperads about Jesus birth? You think heaven didn't rejoice in song? The sheperads were told so they could go check on the straw? And the wise men that showed up approximately two years later with gifts do you think they bowed or just tossed the gifts on the floor? I do not celebrate Christmas as the pagans did. If the pagans ate BBQ chicken does that mean we can't eat BBQ chicken because they have been honoring one of their false gods?

      The difference is that the rainbow was given to us as a symbol from God himself. Christmas on the other hand was created by the pagans the root of this holiday is evil and has nothing to do with our Lord and savior therefore you being a Christian can't take something from a evil origin and call your self cleaning it up and making it holy before the Lord. Because you are unclean and you needed someone to clean you up and to save you so how dare us to think that we can take something that's evil and say is clean and presented to him as a form of worship. And he did tell us not to celebrate it in Jeremiah . There's nowhere in scripture where is mentioned to celebrate his birthday if you want to celebrate anything of him he told you what to do which was communion. At this point in time we should all know that I Lord does not share his glory he will not Associated himself with other gods. Christmas was celebrated or winter solace 600 years before he was even born or even longer than that. Satan comes to deceive us and he knows that God hates idol worship and that's exactly what we are doing when we participate in these activities which are idle worship. It doesn't matter if you feel like you're representing him and you're spending time with your family and friends and it's a jolly time he said it's wrong.

      It's a reductionist view of the argument at best, and a strawman at worst. I don't blame him for making the argument nor do I find fault in you for agreeing with it, just remember that these are our brothers talking about worship of Jesus... Not about mundane actions like driving a car.
      I would not worship God in a way that he does not specifically instruct me to, to point to an image in the text that reflects this look no further than Aaron's sons who were INSTANTLY KILLED for lighting a 'strange fire' before God. I by no means am forcing or insulting any Christian that holds those beliefs, just know that it's unright to dismiss the argument and compare the worship of God to driving a car.

      Do not call what is evil good and what is good evil. Period. God gave us days to celebrate and observe. He gave us laws of how to live and we no do adhere to.
      Too many Christians are never going to experience God's fullness simply because they dismiss the old testament and do not what God says is necessary for strong faith.
      They rely too much on Christ and not enough of the Father. If you are a Christian you are to accept Jewish law and rule. Christianity was never suppose to be a thing. Christ was Jew and we were to be taught like a Jew but we aren't. Many of us are stuck with churches who focus on the NT way more than the old. If you don't understand history you will never understand the future and God's prophecies.

      I hope you woke up from the lies here.
      Jeremiah 10:1-15 kjv
      1Hear ye the word which the Lord speaketh unto you, O house of Israel:
      2 Thus saith the Lord, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.
      3 For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.
      4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.
      5 They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.
      15 They are vanity, and the work of errors: in the time of their visitation they shall perish.

      it would be wise to take the bible LITERALLY not to mold it to your liking btw if you truly read and understood it you would know jesus was born so many months after john the baptist meaning he wasnt born in December. The real question is who's birthday are you celebrating?

    • @InspiringPhilosophy
      @InspiringPhilosophy  7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Do you have any evidence for that. Where in Ancient literature is Nimrod's birthday mentioned?

      InspiringPhilosophy Plenty. but first he has many names since ordering the tower of babel to be built and the builders had their languages changed afterwards they all called him something different strange i figured you would already be aware of this since claiming in your video x- mas is not pagan there is plenty of evidence you dont seem asinine but knowledgeable in certain aspects.

    I appreciate you addressing this I am still in the mist of researching this topic. I have never read this scripture about the tree in the bible that you bring up. I am still learning I have never heard this argument that you are trying to debunk. Honestly I have done other research. But even if you take that same scripture isn't the over all principle to not worship God the way unbeliever do.

    A breath of fresh air!! I love Christmas trees, but I do not worship them. I do not think the pagans who brought greenery into their homes were worshiping the greenery. Those purist Christians should stop celebrating Easter, which is also a pagan spring holiday holyday, and maybe celebrate Jesus's birth in the spring, which is when he was probably born.

    So what's important here?
    Christ birth or his resurrection?
    Resurrection! We celebrate is resurrection, not his birth.
    Not once does Jesus mention His birth to be celebrated. Dec. 25th is NOT Christ birth. No one knows He's birth date cuz thats not important at all. His resurrection is. That was on a Sunday.

      You're acknowledging that you don't know when Jesus was born on, but you're 100% sure it wasn't December 25th w/o any evidence to back that up as not everything on the internet's true. No, I'm not claiming that He was, but I'm just trying to point out how ridiculous your argument is.
      No one is saying that you have to celebrate Christmas, but I celebrate it to remember His birth.
      Remember, Herod tried to kill Him when He was born because He was supposed to be The New Born King, while also acknowledging the fact that Joseph & Mary had to escape Egypt to get away from this onslaught.
      If you don't want to celebrate Christmas then that's fine, but you should value Christ's birth for at least that reason.

      His birth can be determined, I believe it's in the fall ! We know His cousin's birth, John was 6 months older. Study l Luke 2
      Zachriarias John's father

    the green of the christmas tree means eternal life jesus gave us, the ornaments mean the gifts the wise men gave to baby jesus, and the star on top is means the star that appeared when jesus was born
