  • Here’s our Essential 🇩🇰 COPENHAGEN Travel Guide 🇩🇰, giving you EVERYTHING you need to know to travel better for your own Danish adventure!
    WE LOVED COPENHAGEN! From the Danish pastries that erm, aren't actually from Denmark. To the stunning Tivoli Gardens, The iconic Little Mermaid statue, and the colourful street of Nyhavn. Copenhagen is a mini-adventure for anyone who loves the land of Scandi, and the Hygge concept that us Brits can't get enough of!

    Welcome to a rainy and windy Copenhagen!
    I love it here, it’s hub of scandi art and culture. It’s the home of the fashionable hygge concept and was voted the most bike friendly city in Europe. It feels like home. That feeling where you can’t describe why… but the vibrancy of the people, and the coziness of culture…its just a place you won’t forget in a hurry!
    Coming up we’re gonna help you get around the city, learn some of the basic lingo, try some Danish delicacies, and give you some useful tourist tips but first of all we’re starting at the airport
    Copenhagen airport is the largest in Scandinavia. It’s clean, modern and super efficient. From here the best ways to get into town are to take the metro or a taxi.
    Metro platforms are at terminal three and all trains go into town, so no need to worry about getting the wrong one. Ticket machines only accept cards or coins, not notes - so watch out for that.
    Taxis are available outside arrivals, costing around £35 and it takes about 20 minutes to get into town.
    Copenhagen is one of the most bike friendly cities in Europe. So, grab a bike from one of the many places you can rent them here, get in the cycle lane, and go and tour the city in one of the most authentic ways possible.
    We found a rather fantastic app while in Copenhagen. Donkey Republic allows you to hire a bike right from your phone almost anywhere in the city. Each bike is unlocked with bluetooth, so just select your location, find your numbered bike and away you go.

      haha very great guide.. but just FYI be careful how u use the word Hygge because when u say u are doing Hygge with someone its kinda like saying that you are Yohooing with somebody.. like in slang terms haha. u should prob say that you had a Hyggelig time instead. as then there can be no confusion and there is no implying u had sex xD

    A taxi from airport to city - anyone going from the airport, do NOT get a taxi, take the metro or train, the metro will take you to Norreport station, from there it is 2 stops to the city centre. This will save you maybe 300 kroner

    Just got a reminder from Danish news; tourists on bikes are straight up dangerous. They don't know the rules, they stop suddenly, they wobble back and forth, they don't respect the other bikers on the lane who're going a wee bit faster than they are.
    I'm not against tourists biking, in fact I think it's great, but please do take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the traffic rules.

      You covered quite a bit already but I must add having the pork smørrebrød when talking about eats in Copenhagen. I had one with a pint of Denmark's Tuborg beer in one of the restaurants in Nyhavn. And of course, no holiday in Copenhagen is complete without doing some shopping in Stroget. I particularly liked going inside the Royal Copenhagen store to watch an artist hand-paint a porcelain plate.
      Next stop for me in three weeks... Helsinki, which should complete my tour of Nordic countries. Any video or tips on traveling to Helsinki?

    I really don't understand why these travel guide videos - nor most Copenhagen official tourist guides, btw. - show visitors the only building we have that is truly unique: Rundetårn (The Round Tower). It's not very tall (41,5 m) but Copenhagen isn't very tall, so there's actually a magnificent view. But that's not why to go there! It's a combined church tower (though not bell tower) and observatory, and cause the very astronomy interested King Christian the Fourth, wanted to go comfortably to watch the stars, the way up is not stairs, but a spiral road than can be used with a horse cart. And it only costs DKK25. If your time is limited, drop the Little Mermaid, you'll find better sculptures all over the world (even all over Copenhagen), and read the adventure when you get home. The castles are like most other castles... Or take a guided boat tour around the harbour, where you'll see them all, and a lot of other stuff, from a charming angle. Prices from DKK 50.

    • @marcvanderwee
      @marcvanderwee 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I visited the Rundetårn in 2013, it is really great! Just 'climbing' the tower with the spiral road. One other notably place worth a visit is the citybeach with the in-harbour swimming pool at the east side of Københavns Havn, south of the Langebro.

    Btw ... When you take the public transport from the airport (metro, train, or buss) and is going to the city centre, then remember to get a 3-zone-ticket! Many tourist haven't looked into that, and get a nasty surprise, when the ticket inspectors fine them 750 DKK for having too few zones on their tickets!
    That being said, they have now a tendency to be more lenient against tourist ... Because how the F should they know?!? ;)
    And another btw: The ticket bought in the metro, will also work in the busses and trains (and vice versa) ... Just as long you have your zones! The tickets are timestamped when you purchase it and will last at LEAST 75 minutes (for a 2-zones-ticket (the minimum ticket) ) up till 2 hours 45 minutes (for the maximum 8-zones-ticket). If you need to go further, then you need a ticket for your destination (I.e. Aarhus, Odense, or anywhere, long-distance like that.).

      Your video on Iceland was very helpful in deciding which place I should visit on a short time. I went to Saga Museum. Put on those old viking warrior dress & took lot of pictures, that was great fun. Also went to south shore tour. Iceland is amazing place
      Stockholm is a classic wonderful city. I visited some local attractions, Swedish has very rich & vibrant lifestyle.

    Dear tourists, if you are not good at biking, please don't rent a bike during rush hour. We were practically born on bikes and so if you don't know the basic signs and keeping to your right and following the speed of the other bikers, you will most likely be yelled at for slowing traffic down. Mind you, in Copenhagen we don't primarily use our bikes for leisure, but as our main source of transportation to get to and from work, so a tourist getting in our way when we are late, will most likely not get the most welcoming words on his way. Instead, go grab a beer with us, and you will find a more pleasent side of us.

      While English technically wasn't my first language, it is the language I'm best at. I find Danish to be very difficult, because spoken words sometimes do not sound anything like I would expect them to based on their spellings ("Strøget," for example - when the guy in the video said it, the G and T sounded more like (consonant) Y and L). I can imitate what I hear quite well, but pronunciation can be very challenging without an aural reference.

    • @thewhat531
      @thewhat531 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      cesarmarquez04 I only use cash for buying drugs. Visa for everything else. Most Danes also use an app called MobilePay, but more and more businesses accept Apple Pay now.
      I think 99% of businesses here accept Visa.
      I would recommend you read up on buying a "rejsekort" (travel card) for public transportation. You can buy one in the airport when you arrive and take the train from the airport to wherever you are staying. It'll save you time and money to have one immediately. There are probably some cards specifically suited for tourists.
      Apart from that; don't worry. Danes are pretty friendly, and everyone speaks English. You'll be fine.

      It actually is. it's just the fact that here in the Danish language we pronounce letters and stuff differently. Same with Swedish and German. Like for instance whenever I see videos of tourists in Denmark trying to speak Danish it sounds like they're speaking German but when I see videos of tourists in Sweden trying to speak Swedish it sounds like Danish. weird stuff.

    I would like to commend the translation part. In Danish we do not say "how are you" or "how do you do" to someone you do not know. I would be like asking a very personal question about your health. So a Hi is often enough. You can translate the phrases word by word "hvordan har du det" or "hvordan går det" but it is not something we would say to each other in Danish. (the way I see it.)

    I'm an experienced linguist and Danish is NOT one of the most difficult languages in the world. In fact, for native English speakers it's probably the easiest - along with Norwegian and Afrikaans. But only to read! The problem with Danish is the pronunciation. It's insane. Other Nordic language speakers struggle with it. You can do it eventually but it's a bit of a nightmare.

    • @NATIK001
      @NATIK001 ปีที่แล้ว

      When people say Danish is hard to learn they almost invariably talk about the spoken language rather than the written one.
      Written Danish is very easy, it has simple grammar, much simpler than English. The most complex things an English speaker have to get used to are probably composite words and genders. Especially gender will keep tripping up foreigners for a long time due to there being no hard rules for when something is common gender and when it is neutral gender. It is one of the immediate tells often when speaking to a native of another language who otherwise passes.
      Once you add speech though it gets hard, not just due to pronunciation, but also just because Danish, like French, has a wide gulf between what is written and what is actually said. It makes it hard to expand your vocabulary because you can't just read a word and go out and use it, unless you are a trained linguist at least, especially because Danes tend to switch to English the moment they hear any foreigners struggling with their Danish, so it can be hard to train the language naturally.
