"Infinity" is a 2013 comic book crossover storyline that was published by Marvel Comics. Written by Jonathan Hickman with artwork by a rotating team of artists including Jim Cheung, Jerome Opeña, and Dustin Weaver, the series debuted in August 2013 and ran through November 2013.

Wow, I had no idea this storyline even existed. I feel like the Black ordered was Nerfed in The MCU. And I feel like the MCU doesn’t take full advantage of its galactic characters.

I've followed him since way back when he was starting out and when he first got a quality mic he used to have the gain up and it record the sound so well with no filter it was crazy, you could hear every mouth noise and bit of saliva move around haha. So glad hes perfect it now as he's one of my favourite content creators on this site and I follow 100s of tubers from all sorts of genres. Rob is the boss!

I honestly just forget how good the story telling in some of these comics are.
I wish all marvel comics were like jonathan hickman's trilogy. Marvel would've beaten DC in everything not just in movies but unfortunately they no longer care about comics. 😭😭😭

I picked this up on my phone in an attempt to get back into comics again, I am not disappointed even if it's a little confusing being out of the loop for so long. I do love that the marvel app consolidates and orders the relevant side stories from other comics so when you buy a storyline you buy all of it.

Wait, why was an entire section skipped? That was the best part, with all the races of the galactic coalition raising the Avengers flag as they defeated the Builders and Black Swan asking Thanos to free her to let her wreak chaos on Earth, and Thanos not falling for it and just going, "No, I don't think so."
NFINITY SIBLINGS SPOILERS AHEAD
The new OGN refreshed my belief that, with the exception of Ron Marz and Keith Giffen, nobody gets Thanos but Starlin and I am not just saying because Starlin made him but because other writers usually write him as a thuggish warlord in the style of Mongul or Blastaar, who just goes through the Marvel universe slaughtering and conquering everything on his path, or as a cosmic version of Ted Bundy and Jeffrey Dahmer with daddy issues (i'm looking at you Jason Aaron) and that's pretty much it.
Meanwhile Starlin has him do stuff like that but he just doesn't do it for power or just for the sake of conquest; he has ulterior motives and he is a master manipulator and quite machiavellian. Starlin's Thanos also has a personality other than scary angry evil dude (like he cares about people like Gamora and Adam Warlock but he's really incapable of being healthy about it).
Heck even when he's trying to impress Death I feel like there's more feeling and tragedy when Starlin writes him. It also helps that Starlin's Death returns Thanos' feelings (it's complicated) it kind of sells their relationship for me.
Even if I am enjoying Cates' Thanos story I find that Thanos is my least favorite aspect about it (Cosmic Ghost Rider and me wanting to see where the plot goes is what keeps me reading). Hell now that I read Infinity Siblings I could see what Starlin meant as to why Cates' story was similiar to his new Trilogy (has to do mostly with Thanos meeting a future upgraded version of himself and Death also being involved). While Cates' story had some cool moments I feel what I read from it doesn't really make me care much about Thanos (I felt for Hulk, Surfer, Frank,but not Thanos). I enjoyed the character in Starlin's Infinity Siblings, he finally gave Eros (Thanos' hedonistic douche of a Brother) some character development, not to mention it also dropped a huge "Oh shit" moment towards the end that made me eager to read the sequel.
I also liked that his Thanos cared for his father Mentor (who apparently in that story was killed during Rage of Ultron when Ultron took over Titan) in his own way. I dunno but it felt truer to Thanos than Lemire just having him kill Mentor in a violent way (which is just as bad as Kid Thanos vivsecting his almost naked mother).
That said I feel Al Ewing writes a decently good Thanos. I especially enjoyed his talk with Conner Sims and manipulating him which showed Thanos being cunning. I also liked the whole idea Ewing introduced about two Thanos running around in the Marvel Universe (that might have been him trying to make sense between Starlin's Thanos and the other writer's).

Has anyone explained where the Celestials now fit into the Builders origins?? Rob, you touched on how the Builders are sort of 'self-contained' within the 'Infinity' storyline, but with Hickman being such a continuity nut, I can't imagine he would overlook or retcon the Celestials role in the MU. Has this since been remedied? The Celestials show up in the first are of the current Avengers run, but there is no mention of the Builders that I can remember.

I liked House of M Black Bolt because the higher the power level, the higher the importance it was for BB to remain silent. It helped set him apart from other sonic-based Supers. Toning him down makes him feel more like a luxury brand Banshee.

You know I had an interesting thought when you mentioned Spartax. Spartax isn't in the MCU because Ego is Starlord's father but what if he comes into it in Guardians 3 as Peter's brother. It was implied that almost all of Ego's kids were killed except Peter but it technically seems possible that others survived.

I loved this story line. Partly just because it showcases the greatness of Steve Rogers as the premiere strategist in comics. People always talk about Batman and prep time. Well Rogers does that too and actually more. He has led soldiers in WWII, Led super powered beings in interstellar wars and even averted cosmic level universal threats and won. People always seem to forget that Cap always has plans within plans, and his solutions aren't born with the luxury of unlimited resources. He uses what he has in hand like any good soldier does. One of my favorite moments in the story was when Thor tells him a quick story of how he mentioned he was going to offer Cap a drink. The alien generals tell him that no mere human can handle their drink, and he tells them Rogers is no mere human, and tells Cap that the intergalactic army he is leading are branding the worlds they've liberated from the builders as Avengers Worlds.

Rom was the one that started Rogue on the path of good. when she tried to absorb his powers, she couldn't but she did absorb some of his nobility. that was after he fought the brotherhood to a standstill and ledt Avalanche, Blob, and Pyro unconscious while Rpgue, Mystique, and Destiny fled. Rom followed them right into a huge battle with Hybrid, Rom's most deadly foe. the sisterhood of evil mutants then joined Rom in battle against Hybrid but not before the aforementioned attempt to drain Rom of his spaceknight abilities.
Them slitting their throats reminds me of the line in infinity war from okoye when she says “they’re killing themselves” as they storm wakanda.

You know, Rob, when I read through Infinity and Time Runs Out, it always bothered me that Thanos wasn't really bothered with the Beyonders. Like wouldn't he be the #1 person to fight against them due to him being so conceited to think that he should be the person to rule/destroy the 616 universe? Why did he never fight against them, but he chose to fight against the Cancerverse for the exact same reason? Did they ever touch on this in Infinity? Surely he knew about the Incursions, but I don't remember if they mentioned them in Infinity.
Also, I realize that later on he did become part of the Cabal to help destroy other Earths, but Time Runs Out was going on well before then, and it seems that he only joined them because they told him about it. Surely he was able to sense something was going on well before then since he's so powerful.
Thanos took part with the Cancerverse because that was why Death sent him back, and the Cancerverse had killed Death so I can see how Thanos would take it personally. As for the Beyonders - remember Thanos can travel between universes / dimensions with ease, the lose of the 616 universe might not matter to him. Also remember after the Cancerverse, Thanos could not die, so why would he care about the Universe, he wanted to get his son. Also Thanos has had different interests, for a time he wanted to go at Tyrant to test himself, did what he wanted an then left. I can see how Thanos might decide to take a interest in the Beyonders issue since he loved what the Illuminati had been doing - killing worlds. He I am sure would see killing a planet in the name of "good" as funny.
Well, the Death the Cancerverse killed was the Death from the Cancerverse, not 616's Death. Also the beyonders were destroying the entire multiverse, so eventually there wouldn't have been anywhere for Thanos to go. Whether there were other multiverses he could go too I don't think they ever touched on if they even existed, plus if Thanos could make it to another multiverse I'm sure the Beyonders could as well.

I read the Infinity story 4 or 5 times and I recommend it as one as the best Marvel storylines ever created in the comic book universe! Also, Marvel reboots stories every couple of years!

The cool thing about Ebony Maw is that he's called the most dangerous of the Black Order, and his name invokes it. The rest of the Order are named after constellations, star systems, galaxies, etc.
