I don't think it is the scenario here. People must learn Polish, else it is difficult to survive. English is taught in schools but other subjects are in Polish medium. If you go to a shop and expect people to talk to you in English, then people won't respect you. In big cities , yes you can survive a bit where many young generation speak English but you wont be able to make friends if you look only for English or discover the real Poland.
