This is a teeny tiny little baby TV. And you can use it to watch all your favourite TV programs, play retro games, or even plug it into your PC and use it as a tiny little monitor… for some reason. It’s pretty weird, it’s dinky and small, it’s kinda dumb, but it’s also kinda fun. Like me!

I want something like that, but with a 10+ inch screen and designed to look like a 1980s-90s computer monitor.
I picked one of these up ages ago and still have it up and running as a desk toy. The internals are actually good. It uses an orange pi and there is a port of emuelec for it. I have a video on my channel if interested. It becomes a much better toy when you mod it. Glad to see it getting a little spotlight. 😊

I kind of want one to use as like a sensor panel for my PC. Would be great sat on my desk under my main monitor showing framerate and temps and stuff.
I was thinking of the same idea to display frame rate or temps, but inside of a glass PC case. Like a functional Funko PoP.
$120 is entirely too much for it, but I like that it actually comes with a remote.
You gotta consider, 5his is a novelty product. You will something like this in Nintendo land, and branded, for 200$. Easy to market at kids abroad.

You got me all excited thinking it was a CRT! Like film and vinyl, there were a million reasons to want to move away from CRTs when they were the only option, but now that they're gone I miss them and the special fuzzy look they gave vintage games. Probably now that the supply chains and manufacturing infrastructure are gone, they'd be too expensive to make and sell at this price point, but I wouldn't mind having a little orange one.

Love it ❤ Just can't justify spending 120 $ on something like that. Well...maybe at some point, when I had too much root beer and I can't resist the urge to buy it anymore. And let's be honest: root beer isn't really a thing in Germany, so it won't be because of root beer 😅

this seems like a great desk crt tv to just have old episodes on loop.

I've seen portable tvs from the 90s that are around this size with actual CRT tubes in them, they are just really hard to find.
Honestly having this thing playing some old shows on ur desk is just great. I need to buy one or something liek it at some point.

Theres something special about watching cartoons on a crt, i still have an old CRT tv next to my bed purely to watch all the stuff i grew up on (simpsons, futurama, spongebob, etc). People think im totally insane that i dont even own a modern tv lol.
I'm on the two extremes. I've got a sony pvm 6041Q, a little 6 inch screen professional model CRT. It sits next to my bed to play all the old stuff like simpsons, futurama etc. I also have a 4K home theater projector in my bedroom shining a 120 inch image on my wall. Technically I don't own a modern TV either.

why? if anything the logo completes the retro look, as any real such 80's device would have had a similar "Sanyo" or some such logo emblazoned on it.

I’m just fed up with all this modern games that pricey and incomplete. Have to update every month and still bad, play extra for dlc and battle pass basically drying out my money.
Not all the games but it still pretty bad.Thank god people make this kind of stuff.

I kinda want one of these for my retro collection just because of the visual aesthetics of the unit itself. I realize it would cost a lot more, but what would make this even better is if it was actually a 3.5" tube TV.

I had the same thought as you, to keep it on my work desk and hook up the SNES or Genesis Minis, but then I saw the price 😬 for less than that you can probably find a 10-13 inch CRT locally and either hook up legit retro consoles or do what you just did but with an HDMI to RCA converter and it would be a lot more than just a gimmick. Just my two cents 🤷 great video as always though

Actually, fun fact, light gun games are EASIER when the screen is smaller. A pro tip for duckhunt is to get as FAR away from the TV as possible (not close, like the noobs try).
What's the best way to use this like a digital photo frame for screenssavers?
If it were £30 or so I'd pick one up for the novelty of it and probably chuck it in my bag for when I go caravanning or something. For the price that they're asking for it though, no chance!

What is the OTHER little Silver Physical switch for? .....AND can you force the image to fit the whole Screen using the TV controls? I want to emulate a Sega Genesis and without black borders.
One switch turns the tv on/off, the other switches between HDMI and Android

Hmm. What's with the thick black line that's not quite at the bottom of a lot of the games? (not letterboxing because you can see a tiny sliver of the screen just below it)
This tv was meant to be play with retro games so use it for that and it'll be spectacular.

I still have raspberry pi 4 and an 512 gb sd card I had in my steam deck before I switched to 1tb. I can make some kind of 24/7 cartoon tv station out of it. The only problem is how do I explain this concept to my girlfriend.. or - more important - why this concept is worth spending money on 😂

@techdweb Im torn between 5950x and a 5800x3d my rig as it is 128gb 3600 cl16 ram 4090 1000w psu which would you choose in my position? Upgrading from a 5600x
Only go for the 5950x if you need the core count for production work. I do video and digital art work which is why I went with the 5950x, pure gaming you'll be fine with the 5800x.
You need an Orange Pi 800 Keyboard PC and put Android 12 on it. If you do, look for US Power supply with it and 128 GB eMMC GB storage. IT'S ORANGE!!!!! TH-cam has a setup walkthrough. I will be getting one.

I still love the v90! Definitely install the miyoo custom firmware. After that it should be good to go.
@@TechDweeb Yeah, I went through your and Russ's guides immediately. The only thing I didn't bother with is Retroarch - the updated CFW emulators seem to do the job, and I just want to play games, not squeeze that extra 0.1% performance increase in systems I've never heard of.

@@mikeg2491 Actually they still make it, just not for US market. In Indonesia I can still buy brand new 14 inch CRT TV. But probably it's old new stock from 2019.
You should put a raspberry pi in a case that looks like a little vcr and put that on top of it for your desk it would be pretty sweet load it with cartoons and retro games. I like it but I wouldn't pay over $50 especially because the android is useless might as well just be a screen. Why does every TV these days need to be a smart TV. Every smart TV I have tried is useless beaten by a $30 firestick stupid.
because the avg person wants apps built into their tv, not have to buy anything extra. thats why. it's also much simpler all in one, especially for grandmas and other not techies. and when you are talking about a low end 32" or so ~100 dollar bedroom tv +30 is significant. it's nice external sticks are an option though for sure. one big issue is often the cheap smart tv's are slow cus they cheap out on the cpu. i bought a 700 75" hisense with hdr, 4k etc, and it's insanely, insanely nice for the price, but the google tv built in seems slow and choppy as crap. even that said i wont bother doing anything about it lol. which gets back to my convenience point.

it looks cool but i assume it's actually a lcd screen in there, not a mini crt right? that wasn't made clear in the video.
also, sounds like from your commentary a version with a 5" or bigger display might be much more practical. since the chinese throw everything at the wall, they'll probably do that eventually.
but why didnt you try high end console series x/ps5 on it? might have solved much of your pc usability issues. i mean i get you still wouldnt want to actually game on it, but pc skyrim seems about the worst choice imaginable besides maybe PC world of warcraft lol.
