      I didn’t think it was possible either, not natively that is. Sure is a nice feature though!

    Nicely done. I only heard of this a day ago when someone responded to a video I had made about the STECS Max and how they gave us a 3-way toggle but only assigned two positions. There was a solution in the VKB software but I learned that there was a solution in DCS which you also just demonstrated. Very cool stuff.

      Thank you! I!m not sure why this isn’t more widely known, but am glad we have it as it makes things like this even better. Cheers!

    Huge thanks for showing this feature! Like you, I find it breaks the immersion a bit if I have to toggle to the same position twice to get opposite toggle switch function. Now it is built in! Happy camper here. :)

      My pleasure! And I'm with you there and is exactly why I didn't use toggles very often unless there was a "Special for Joystick" binding that would let them work correctly.

    Using “off” states for permanent toggles will give you multiple and versatile binding options.

    • @DieselThunderAviation
      @DieselThunderAviation  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      On else OFF bindings are nice, and I do wish there were more of them. This method works just as well! I tried to write extra lines into the control LUA files to add them, but learned that there are about 4 different ways that the control binds are written.

    That's cool, but the Su-27 doesn't seem to have the appropriate new separate On and Off bindings available, which means I'd have to add them manually, which would mean I'd have to do the same thing I do now and modify Lua files...unless there's something I missed here.

    I'm struggling to bind the autopilot A10c (3 ways) switches to my VPC CM3 throttle 2 way toggle switches, just like you are doing in this video for the probe on the Hornet. It would be very useful making a specific new video for the A10 about the same topic.

    • @DieselThunderAviation
      @DieselThunderAviation  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That should work, though the only issue I see is if both toggles are set to on, something that is impossible with a three way toggle. I’ll tinker with it and see what I can find.

    I found this out about 1 week ago as well however I was unable to use this effectively with the hornet's parking break. Unlke the f-14's parking brake, the f18's parking break has to be pulled and turned. It can be done on a 2 position toggle switch, but you have to cycle your switch like 5 times to turn the parking break on and another 5 times to turn it off. If you figure out a way to setup the hornet's parking break to be turn on and off on 1 cycle please let me know! Great Video!!!

    • @DieselThunderAviation
      @DieselThunderAviation  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you, glad you found it helpful! That control will be a tricky one to do with toggles I would think. With that being a dual mode control, I can't think of an easy way to set that on a toggle. I'll tinker with it in the sim. If I find a solution, I'll post it.

      You know, I haven't used that beyond the occasional firmware update and just set up everything in DCS. I shied away from using joystick profiles and software after my underwhelming experience with the Saitek SST software years ago.
      And thank you! Enjoyed the Warthog a lot since I bought it a couple years ago, and the new Viper throttle is really awesome too.

      Totally understand that feeling! I upgraded a 17 year old Saitek X-45 to the Warthog, and it was a night and day difference! Got even better when I added an extension to the stick. The new Viper throttle is set to release next month, on October 11th.
      And thank you! Glad you are enjoying the channel!

    Is it unusual for toggle switches to act as two different buttons in their up and down position? My only experience so far is with the gear lever on my SEM box, but that has a different button press for each position, so I just bind one to gear UP and one to gear DOWN.

    • @DieselThunderAviation
      @DieselThunderAviation  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, it sounds like you have an ON-ON toggle switch, or your controller is generating a button press for each switch position. In your case you would bind the switch like normal for each position and not need to set the OFF position like I showed, at least for your SEM controller anyway. :)

  • @atorius989

    I've never had an issue with mapping my Winwing stuff. They just mapped with no issue. Must be a Thrustmaster thing or issue.

    • @DieselThunderAviation
      @DieselThunderAviation  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not just limited to Thrustmaster. I've observed this with Saitek and homemade sim controls as well (Arduino based or stuff like Button Box). WinWing may either be using ON-ON switches or using the firmware on its control board to generate the signal when a switch is off. The new Thrustmaster Viper throttle has an option for making discrete inputs when switches are in their OFF states.

    • @atorius989
      @atorius989 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @DieselThunderAviation I hear yah. I'm not sure what Winwing uses, but my two-way and three-way toggles work no matter its starting position. Makes me love my Winwing stuff event more. I only use the software for updates and calibration when and if needed.

    • @deadpxl
      @deadpxl ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I was a bit confused at first too as a Winwing user since each position on every switch registers as a button. Gotta give more credit to an already great throttle for never even having to deal with this issue! Now just to figure out how to properly setup the A10C to have all 3 flap positions bindable...lol

    Uhmm..... Just set the toggle up to "gear up " and the down to "gear down "

    • @DieselThunderAviation
      @DieselThunderAviation  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's the down part that is the trick, as most toggles don't register an input signal in their off states. This allows DCS to have the ON else OFF logic condition natively, without relying on 3rd party software or LUA editing to do it.

    • @The_Real_Pimpaho
      @The_Real_Pimpaho ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank You, I only have the winwing ka-50 collective which has a 3 way toggle ( up,center,down ) Doesn't seem to be an issue in that case
      @@DieselThunderAviation

    • @DieselThunderAviation
      @DieselThunderAviation  ปีที่แล้ว

      Seems some of the controllers will create a discrete input to the PC for a toggle switch off state. My Warthog does not do it, but the new Viper throttle has that capability. Sounds like WinWing is doing that too.
