  • Here are the tips you need so you can make the most of your visit to the Acropolis in Athens and other popular archeological sites in the area.
As you'll see, we start out strong, but things fall apart in the middle. But we learn from our mistakes so you don't have to make the same ones. :)
On this day, we also explored Anafiotika, saw the changing of the guard, ate great food, and watched a beautiful sunset on a hill. See that video here: • Anafiotika and Wanderi...

Great tips - thanks for sharing! Especially about starting first thing in the morning and getting as much in as you can before things start to close early. These are good tips for those who want to travel to Athens in winter.
I have been there a couple of times in the summer and I would go to the Parthenon, Ancient Agora and Temple of Zeus after 4pm as many tourists have left by then and going at the top of Acropolis around 7pm with the sun almost setting is an awesome experience and not many tourists around. I do agree that go through the South East entrance rather than the West entrance

I lived in Athens for 5 years and didn't do any of these exciting things. Shame on me. I was there for work so basically lived the life of an expat which means spending the weekends lounging on the beach along the Athenian Riviera. Actually here's another great tip for visitors to Athens; make sure you visit *Lake Vouliagmeni* in the neighbourhood of Vouliagmeni. It's about a 30 minute cab ride from downtown Athens and has cool neighbourhoods nearby to explore. I liked the neighbourhood of Glyfada (also known as the sea-side neighbourhood) as it has great shops and plenty of delicious restaurants to choose from. Alternatively, there's the posh neighbourhood of Kiffisia in the north of Athens, which has boutique shops and great eateries too. In all I fell in love with Athens when I lived there. Sun, sea, beaches amazing cuisine and some gorgeous people too. Perhaps one day I'll retire there, lol. Okay thanks for the upload nice to see Athens again.

Look we appriciate you trying to read Greek, we think it's cool for a foreigner to do so, but the way you pronounced the letters in 2:00 almost gave me an aneurysm.

Haha, I'm so sorry! I don't doubt for a second that it was terrible. This is exactly why we need locals to show us around. ;) -Isa

I was there last week. While the acropolis was cool to visit, I loathed Athens. Dirty, crowded, full of scammers, etc. The Greek Islands however are incredible.

We've never been to the Greek islands. Glad you had a good experience down there at least. We actually liked how dirty and crowded Athens was - made it feel gritty and real. -Brian

Kill the meaningless "music"! What an annoyance! Stayed 2:30.

Thanks for the feedback. I felt like without the music the video is boring, but maybe I just need better music. Any suggestions?

Proud to see old temples and civilization but very difficult to safeguard from Islamic forces and may be destroyed again

I'm not sure where this comment is coming from. Islam is a peaceful religion and they don't have any plans to destroy ancient structures.
