These are the absolute best travel videos that I have seen on You Tube. They are going to help make my upcoming trip to Greece more memorable. I wish I could find the same thing for other cities/countries. Well done Greece Explained!
💯
Watching ur videos feels like talking to a friend in Greece asking tips for the trip while sipping on a cup of coffee☕ 😊 It really brings smile on my face, Thank u Sebastian 💐😊
Thanks a lot :) Really valuable information.
Great video. Thanks
Super useful, thank you!
As always, fantastic and practical advice. 🎉
Love to go in the winter time, really good video and info. thankss
Thank you!
Better still, if you are interested to watch the Imperial Guard March event, there's another location where you can watch this without the crowd. It's at the Prime Ministers Office building, which is located just opposite of the National Garden.😅👌
Thanks so much. You shared your experience so clear fast
Hi great video, you are so honest thank you so much. Your video help us a lot. Chaos
Your videos are amazing
YOU'RE GREAT!
Sebi, your videos are wonderfully made and very helpful in our honeymoon planning. Thank you!
Love your content...
Man I love your videos. I was looking for information about Athens and daily blogs are nothing compared to your guides! I hope you will manage to release all of th w videos before may because that's when I am traveling!❤
Best travel videos ever. Thank you from Budapest!
Much appreciated ❤❤
Very helpful!!!! Thank you Sebastian
Oh my goodness! I am so glad I found your channel. My friend and I will be in Athens in July (not ideal but it's the ONLY month she can travel, but also we both lived in Texas where 40C temps are normal for several months). Your videos are exactly what I've been hoping to find as we plan our trip.
I totally agree with Actianek ... daily blogs are nothing compared to your videos😀. You are really knowledgeable and your insight is really helpful. Counting down the days up to my visit to Athens in September and having a tour with you 😍
The National Garden was on my list to visit but I'm scratching that out now. Following your recommendations 😊
thank you, this video was very helpful in answering my questions after many failed google searches!
Wow great explanation thank you so much
Thank you ,your videos are great very helpful ,I,ll be visiting youtr beautiful country very soon.
Thanks !
Thanks very much for your videos. They're very informative. You're very knowledgeable, thanks for sharing it.
Brilliant 👏 to the point, honest , and clear. So much info too. Thanks.
I agree with shruthi, I keep watching your videos even though I went last year. I makes me feel still being there and enjoying my beautiful memories. By the way, the tip of where to find the stair going down from Lycabettus hill is very useful. I did not have it when I was walking down in the dark and even though I found my way after all it was certainly not precisely the correct path or even a path at some points LOL
I will be visiting Athen and Santorini in 2 weeks and just want to thank you for making the video it helps me a lot to make a list of things to see while we are there. So thank you.
You are a mine of information…I’ll be in Athens in 3 weeks, you’re a great help
Your channel is best. Will love to meet you when I am in satorini!
Will be in Athens Nov 6. I’ve watch tons of videos, yours are the best by far!
The National Gardens were originally the Royal Gardens, and they were good enough for a capital of 500k citizens.
Now it's just a medium sized park in the very centre of Athens, which can provide some shade and quiet. If you walk away from the streets, at some point you stop hearing the noises, which is always nice in a big city that never stops moving.
I would suggest to anyone that will visit the Panathinaikon Stadium (or its neighborhood in general), while coming from the Acropolis/Plaka area to go through the Zappeion and return through the National Garden. It's a nice walk that a lot of people don't do often.
Planning my entire Athens itinerary by your videos! Thank you. Excellent editing and invaluable information.
I am just waiting for your video please make a video about milos
You are gem....your videos are so good to watch that one can explore Greece like an experienced travelller. Keep going
Thanks for your great videos. Sure would appreciate one about how to go and what to do at the Athens Riviera. We're slow travelers and are going to be 10 days in the area.
Enjoyed your video! You took my wife and I on a private tour of Santorini. We will be returning to Athens in 2024. Looking forward to your video on Athens street food and day trips.
Lovely video dear
These are so incredible, I just moved to Athens and the information you are providing for free is such a god send, thank you sir!
The National Garden is a nice little cooling-off spot when you're walking around the Syntagma area in the summer: plenty of shade, benches, gazebos, little ponds with fish and frogs, really tall palm trees and other beautiful flora.
Great video! One day trips should be very interesting!
Great tips man! Fellow creator going to greece in august. Travel creator! 🎉
Best travel videos I have ever watched. I must thank you!
Thanks 😊
Love your videos Sebastian! They are so informative with great tips. Wish you were a travel agent on the other islands too. I can’t find any this good for Milos and Paros 🙁
The goal is to cover all the popular islands, including Milos and Paros. So if you come back in like 5 years, it'll probably be ready :D
Thank you Sir
Have been living in Athens almost 3 years now and basically I do agree with every suggestion :) Anafiotika is very little, narrow and sweet place - grab some coffee and enjoy. Yet I do love National garden just sit there, watch birds (no, I am not a cat) and enjoy time. Filopappou has the best view, nature, turtles - careful not to step on them ;) Your videos are so clear and straight forward that I only wish that you would have some same style friend working in Paros and Naxos to get info from :D
Hi,
Can you make a video on mykonos
Party places budget and everything
Travelling there next month
Love your videos
I am coming at the end of april so yes i look forward to have your videos....😂
Γεια σου! I'll be in Greece for 9 nights in May. I booked an Airbnb in Athens for the whole time but with the intent to spend some days in Athens, do some island hopping, then return to Athens before leaving. This is perfect for me to get the most out of my time in Athens! Ευχαριστώ!
Same!
Hi Sebastian!
My wife and I are visiting come end August 2023. Can't wait!
We love your very informative videos! Secertly wish to bump into you. Hahaha.
Keep at it!
1 question: Do we need to buy online tickets for the cable car up Lycabettus Hill?
Nope, on the spot ! There arent any lines, dont worry.
Best vid of Athens- short, sweet, and perfect. But there is no need for music!!!
You are the best, you information are details and verified keep it up . I watched and listen many times your videos also the area where the best to stay in athens i have booked in plaka .
I've changed before i saw your video i booked wrongly in Omnia area 😔 and too many bad reviews and i dont want to be in danger in risky place to be , that's why you explore your holiday that you will be safe r❤
Γεια σου φίλε! Thanks for your amazing videos. Could you do a video of what to do in Atenas if you arrive by cruise and only have some hours there? Gracias y abrazo from Argentina!
Thank you Sebastian, I love your videos!!❤ Is it worth going to the coast in Athens?
If you're going to some islands as well, then no I would not recommend visiting Athens' coastline. Beaches are better on the islands.
Can you walk to all the archeological sites? By the way your videos are very helpful and I can't wait for you to do more. We are going in September and these are so informative.
Yes all archeological sites are within walking distance of one another. Except for Aristotle's Lyceum which is a bit farther out.
Massive history nerd here🙂🙂
Love your videos. Very informative . Can you add some day excursions that are available by boat from Athens for swimming with meals on the boat and return back to Athens. Usually grouped for max 8-10 people I’m told
Thanks a lot

These are by far the best instructional videos of Athens and Greece on TH-cam. I am traveling to Athens on 07/10/23 and have found the information invaluable. Are you for hire, lol.
Thanks for the kind words !
Yes, I AM for hire :-)
You can email me at sebitheguide@gmail.com
I watched most of your videos for my upcoming trip to Greece !! Very helpful and a lot of information that I looked for! What do you recommend to do if we only have 1 and half day in Athen? Thank you 😊
Acropolis, Ancient Agora, Plaka, Philopappou Hill and either the Acropolis Museum or the National Archeological Museum.
Hi! I really love your videos. It is so detailed and informative :)
I am visiting Athens in few weeks so can you please suggest if I should go to lake Vouliagmeni?
Awaiting your response 🙂
Thx for the kind words ! No, I wouldnt consider lake Vouliagmeni as a must do.
Thank you for the informative video. I am trying to decide between going in March break or in July. Which would be better in your opinion?
Thank you Seb for this guide. If we are traveling during the shoulder/winter season, what would be the best time of the day to visit the Archeological sites vs museums vs hikes?
I'll post a video in October on Athens in the winter. Stay tuned ;-)
Sebastian you have the most concise, informative, and practical videos! Thank you. Im heading to Greece for the first time July 29-Aug 6. Flying into ATH to Santorini first. On Aug 1 do you recommend I fly back to ATH from Santorini or have the experience of ferrying back?
I would go for the ferry experience :-)
Great video! FYI in the athens pass link, it looks like the price is now 59 euros.
Correct ! It was increased recently, unfortunately.
❤❤❤❤
Awesome tips, many thanks. We are off to Athens for a week start of October. Any October tips?
Awesome time to come. Not too hot, not too crowded. The Philopappou and/or Lycabettus walks are perfect for October.
Thanks for the excellent video mate. Do we need a guide for the acropolis and Temple of agora if tee buy the Athens pass ? Any recommendations
Sure, I recommend this one : bit.ly/46YkLSC
Γειά σου, Sebastian. Do you do tours in Athens? Would love to discuss if possible
You can hit me up on instagram ! @sebi_the_guide
I love your videos Sebastian! I have a question regarding the combo ticket. Following your link, I readthat they say that the only scheduled time is your entrance to the Acropolis, and that the ticket is valid for five days after it is first scanned in. Does that first scanning have to be your scheduled Acropolis visit, or can it be one of the others as long as you stick to your schedule for the Acropolis?
Hey ! It can be at one of the other sites as well :-)
❤️
Hi Sebi, my wife and I absolutely love your videos. We are following your advice and want to purchase the Athens Pass for our upcoming trip in June. When we clicked on the link, we could not find the ticket that you describe in your video containing all seven sights plus the Acropolis Museum. Might they no longer have this pass available? Thanks!
Yes indeed, its not clear yet if the Athens Pass will be continued. If by Apr 1st (official start of the summer season) the Athens Pass is still not available, it probably means its dead for good.
Thanks so much!@@GreeceExplained
Does anyone know if the Acropolis is less busy on weekdays compared to weekends? Thanks for making all these amazing videos!
Hi Alex ! Weekdays and weekends are pretty similar in terms of crowd (unfortunately).
@@GreeceExplained great to know! Thanks so much 👍
Excellent Videos - I just found you and I have watched about four!
Finding your videos super helpful as I plan my upcoming trip!
Welcome aboard ! :-)
Is it worth going to archeological sites on entrance free days? or are those days very crowded? thank you in advance from Michigan. April traveler. Love your videos.
Very crowded. If you can afford the regular ticket, I'd go on a normal day.
There's a 3 day combo that includes the Nat Archaeological museum.
Do you know of a link?
@@sharikratz7455 You can buy it there or just look up the museum.
I have been this year january in athens national park it was just fine but not as i expected
Do you recommend to visit the sites during free entrance days (I’m interested in 18th April)? Thank you for your helpful videos!
Not really ... Since the new system of time slots was implemented a few months ago, free days have been a nightmare for tourists because you arrive at the gate and they tell you that the next free time slot is in 6 hours ... And very often people already have other plans for later that day, so they're stuck.
While when you book a paid ticket online ahead of time, they will let you enter no matter what. No last minute surprises.
Hellenic Heritage E-Ticket is a good website to buy combined ticket? I’m wondering if the chosen time slot refers to the visit of Acropolis or not
Hi! What are the places you can visit for free on first sunday of the month that you recommend to actually do on that Sunday? I plan to do the Acropolis of Athens first thing in the morning. Any other suggestions for free places to visit on the first sunday after this?
Thank you for the video! How many days does the Athens Pass last?
The Athens Pass includes the Combo Ticket and the Acropolis Museum.
The Combo ticket is valid for 5 days.
The Acropolis Museum 1 day (the date that you will select when booking the Athens Pass)
@@GreeceExplained Hi Sebastian, as a follow up to this response, how exactly does this work? My family and I are staying 2 days in Athens and I was planning to purchase this pass. My intention is to visit Acropolis on day 1, museum on day 2, and 1 or more other sites as time permits. Would this not be a viable plan using this pass?
@@cowboyscoffeetalk676 Yes in that case you should go for the Athens Pass indeed.
@@GreeceExplained efharisto Sebastian :)
How long does it take to walk up/down Lycabettus Hill? Also, what are the operating hours for the cable car?
From Syntagma square to the top of Lycabettus, its takes around 1h on foot.
Cable car operating hours : www.lycabettushill.com/cable-car/
Im headed to Greece this week with my 20 year old son and he wants to see a few night clubs and unfortunately we will be there on a weds and thurs night. Where do you recommend we go for fun music and nightlife? We will be staying at the Royal Olympic hotel.
Psyri and Gazi neighborhoods
Always your videos are very informative and great. One question? I have only one day in Athens, for saving money if I we won't buy a ticket of Acropolis can we take best picture of the Acropolis? Which area to captured good picture? Someone said from Monastiraki square is the place? Please guide us. Thanks
The top of Philopappou Hill. Its what I show at 7:55.
@@GreeceExplained Thank you so much sir
@@GreeceExplained Thanks, it sad to me cuz my wife won't able to do long walk, she got back problem. Anyway thank you so much for your kind information. Regards
I am reaching Greece on 31st Oct. Need to connect with you.
Philopappou hill can be done in the evening? Is it safe? Just for a good view after the acropolis lights have been turned on?
Yes it can be done at night, no its not 100% safe though. Some weird people hanging out there from time to time.
Hi, is May 18th really free? If so, do I need to reserve on line or is it walk in only. Thank you
Yes May 18th is free. No need to book anything online, just walk in.
🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍😍✌️🙌
Some ticket prices are wrong, eg Acropolis ticket is 20€, and not 25€: the acropolis museum ticket is 15€, and not 20€.
In the US we hear that the Acropolis tickets will be time stamped and limited beginning Sept 4. Do you know if we purchased tickets for the Acropolis if they will still be good (from the recommended website) if not timestamped?
What I ve heard so far is that it will work on a "first arrived first served" model, no matter where you got your ticket from. If you arrive at 8:30am and the quota of allowed visitors for the 8:00 - 9:00 slot has been reached, you'll need to wait until 9.
Thank you!@@GreeceExplained
Unfortunately I will be in Athens just for a day. Planning to visit Acropolis in the early morning and then visit Plaka and Anafiotika neighborhoods. In the late afternoon hit the Lycabettus hills for the sunset view. Is that doable? Which neighborhood is closest Plaka or Anafiotika ? Thanks
Yes its doable. And it d be better if you would arrive at the Acropolis at 7:50am instead of 8, it could make a big difference.
Plaka is the closest.
@@GreeceExplained Thank you for replying so fast. As always appreciate all your tips.
You killed the pronunciations
Any advice for taking children ages 6 and 2 to Lycabettus...a taxi or Uber would be helpful but then we would have to bring car seats...any other way to get to the cable car without walking the 20min?
Nope, the only options are either walking or taxi. But you could hold your younger child on your lap, the cab driver wont have a problem with that.
Hope this helps ! In case you wanna support my channel, here's a link to make a one time donation : www.buymeacoffee.com/greeceexplained
Hello, the price for the athens pass is now 59€? Did it increased? Thank you!
Hey ! Yes it increased.
Hey Sebastian, how much time would you recommend to spend to actually appreciate the National Archaeological Museum?
1h30 - 2h
@@GreeceExplained Thanks!!
The Athens pass is currently unavailable. Is it discontinued??? Thanks for your videos.
The Athens Pass is now available :-)
@@GreeceExplained thank you so much for the effort you put in for us. Much appreciated
Do taxis go all the way to lycabettus hill or just the cable car stop?
All the way
IF WE BUY ATHENS PASS, is it neccessary to stick to time and date selected or we can visit as and when we want?
When buying the Athens Pass, the date you will select is the first of the 5 days the Pass will be valid.
The date & time you choose for the Combo Ticket needs to be respected only for the ACROPOLIS Archeological site. The 6 other archeological sites can be visited at any time during the 5 days.
The date you choose for the Acropolis Museum must be respected as well.
