- This is part one of a movie made in blender's real time engine Eevee. I have been working on this in my free time (weekends) for the past 2 years. This movie is dedicated to the blender community, without them I would have never been able to learn and work with this amazing software. I am hoping to release more parts of the story as I get more time to create more!

I am blown away with how many comments and views this video is getting! The comments are really motivating me to make episode two even better! My plan was to wait for blender to update to vulcan before I started on episode two but I gave up on that and have started on episode 2 about two months ago.

Blender should use this to show how powerful the software is. All the simulations, texturing, modeling, composition, and EEVEE?! This is by far one of the best short film a one man army has produce with Blender. Amazing storyline. Major props to you. Truly impressive and inspiring.

I never thought an Eevee render could look this good.
Eevee is kinda like unreal engine but better-looking (or at least it should be better-looking) because is made to be rendered in low real-time way unlike Unreal engine that must be rendere in "full real-time" with a decent frame rate because is made for games
P.S. full real-time e low real-time are terms i just made up in order to expand the classical realtime and hard-realtime definitions, unreal engine is not made for critical application therefore the term hard-realtime doesn't fit well
When i use eevee it looks horrible.. I don't get it

@@katomiccomics202 sincerely about unreal and unity etc it really depends on the artist and how many post processing effects are enable by default, there are a lot of stunning arts made with unity but everyone is convinced that unreal is the best because at the time was the best, now is like every other engine, you just need to learn to use it, unity has less bloom and godrays by default because his purpose is to be fast and eventually good-looking
Eevee because is totally general purpose does let you do the job because if you are trying to render an engine for a tecnical simulation you probably don't want to have a bloom, also eeve has a solid color as background by default when unity and unreal they got a kind sky by default

Great modelling, great effects and lights, you clearly know how to put a shot together, the only problem is the pacing. You often stay on a basically still image for like 10 seconds. A few cuts here and there and this could be absolutely stunning

Agreed. Beautiful work, but slow. I watched at 1.5 speed and it felt just about right. The ending was super confusing. Riding train, then rusty, then zapped by teddy, and all of a sudden in a field of old robots? Maybe scene 2 will clarify it The 3D work is amazing, but I feel the story and pace could use some more refinement. Keep it up, man. You’re incredible.
I thought the pacing wasn't too bad, it was cut more like a feature film than a TV show. The animation was more of the problem! Not to sound critical because this is such a beautiful work of art!! As soon as the character(s) started moving it immediately cheapend or dated the look

@@Leukick in truth, my attention span seems shorter every day, but it felt too indulgent If I was settling into a 2 hr movie I might feel differently. But seriously, at 1.5X it felt almost right. Still a bit slow, but almost right.
People make great animations in blender and here I am proud of my pink donut

I have noticed alot of comments regarding realtime and how many people worked on this plus the walking animation ;) so where do I start... Realtime, currently blender doesn't have baked in animations so those scene excluding character animations can run at 24fps most of the time but scene like the storm scene and ocean scene plus water sim were running around 2fps in realtime (this will get improved in the future) as for rendering due to the software needing to pour data into the export format it needs to use the CPU so the term realtime becomes a bit lose. Shortest render 7 seconds per frame, longest frame around 30 seconds mainly storm scene and ocean scene (please keep in mind this was done two years ago on blender 2.8 something it's faster now) as for the whole animation to keep my sanity and to give myself a deadline I would stop myself from upsesing too much on a single scene. So I on my own would design the scene texture the scene light the scene animate the scene and etc there are mistakes in this for sure but my goal was to tell a story and do it as quickly as I can. For animating that walk you see at the start was my first dab at animation the tanookie was my latest try :P so yes I could go back and fix it but that defeats the purpose finishing a project and moving to the next episode. All I can say is that I hope my years of working on blender since then can produce a better result on episode two. As an artist sharing something is very personal and I am happy that I have because most of the comments are so nice! I am pround to be part of blender community #devfund :P
Also for anyone asking about tutorials, I would but there are so many talented blender artists on TH-cam that's where I learned everything I know... But as I get to my next scene maybe I can start streaming on weekends and chat with you all too and also learn together as we go further along the story!!

I wasn't too impressed at the start... but the train... Just wow, it pulls you in. And in fact, it was pretty great all around. AND THE SOUND! JEEZ, THE SOUND! Nice work. And this one scene at 7:41 is truly beautiful. The more I think about it the more I like it

Okay... the evee in blander is amazing, and what you did with it its outstanding. But my dude... the directing, photography, script, concept art and so on, are SO FUCKING GOOD, omg... what??!! So awesome... SO AWESOME!!! The fear, cold e loneliness YOU made us feel in that scene where he's in the dark train in the middle of a fucking storm, WTF! I'm blown, the shots are perfect!
I hope to see this masterpiece in a LOT of festivals out there!
