It finally happened, a game so out there and off the wall it broke SNES Drunk's mind. Don't feel too bad about it, happens to the best of us.

She looks an awful lot like Sophie from Howls Moving Castle too. Or perhaps Sophie's design was inspired by this game?
@@HanaKeijou It might explain why I felt the game was a bit Miyazaki-like. Can't blame the devs for being inspired, nearly every movie made by Miyazaki inspired at least one videogame.
As Snes Drunk indicated, this game is more of an experience than a challenge. I completed it in like 15 minutes when I played it on PS2 in the Taito Memories compilation. When you play it expect a Cho Aniki, a UFO Kamen Yakisoban or a LSD: Dream Simulator. Great Review!

Wow, this game looks gorgeous. I absolutely LOVE the graphics. It definitely looks like a late 80's, early 90's cartoon. Kinda reminds me of Madeline

I'm laughing so hard on the game, because it reminds me of Terry Gilliam's animations in Monty Python except it's more japanese.

At first I thought this was another weird Japanese arcade game I saw years ago, but that one justified its bizarre levels by making them different dreams you were warped into. Still, that stage hazard with the girl's legs and knee-high socks is kinda familiar... but not the robot enemies or the other bosses. Similar premise, though.

This had some really good detail. I like that the characters had proper shadows instead of the usual round shadow under the feet. And the distorted reflections looked great too.
As for the weirdness, it's Japanese. What did you expect?

My favorite channel on TH-cam. Maybe tied with Dunkey but you're up there. I'm glad you branch out from snes sometimes or go with weird romhacks. It makes the content more unique. Plus you just sound like a nice, sincere guy. I hope you keep it up for a long time!

Actually stumbled upon a cabinet of this about 25 years ago at a hotel in Kenya of all places. The level with the background full of pics of the devs really stuck in my mind.

Didn't see it when I did a search, might be worth covering Scourge Hive on GBA sometime. Neat little twist on the Metroid Fusion formula.
Great video as always, but I have a tiny nitpick; the reference to Scarface is inaccurate. Tony Montana shoved his nose in a giant mountain of cocaine, not meth. It also didn't result in a colorful/weird trip. You should watch it sometime, it's dark but there's reasons why it's referenced so much in popular culture.

This kind of weird stuff from Japan is usually worth checking out. This one looks like it is glorious. The best part is that this is short, so it might even take you longer to figure out how you are going to play it any way you can.

I played this a few years back it was a ton of fin. You should checkout the Hook arcade game or the Sailer Moon arcade next next. Both are fantastic arcade games.
The art style and humor reminds me a little bit of the Wario Ware series. Playing this as a kid at the Arcade must have felt like a fever dream.

Finally a game that lives up to the channel's name
I have a suggestion that I wanted to say for a long time..
A lot of times you mention other games during the video specially if there r similarities, my suggestions is whenever you mention other game just put a short clip of it so that we get the idea, a lot of times you mention games but I just can't relate because I don't know the name of the game.
I hope my suggestion will help both the audience and the channel
When HG101 reviewed this game, it was pointed out that LSD was actually legal in Japan at the time. That would explain a lot.

Ah yes. THIS GAME. I remember playing this game like it was yesterday. Good call not showing the supers, because they are indeed a trip.
I cannot recommend this fun little bit of easy going insanity more than I already do. It's delightful! It's definitely not the hardest beat 'em up, which I think is actually perfectly fine since it let's you appreciate the visuals and music as much as it all deserves. (Disappointed you didn't mention the music.)
One thing I should mention, I seem to recall one of the super moves actually required two players using the super at the same time. You'll know it when you see it since it's the most overpowered looking move among the super moves. Have fun and try not to take Japanese Wackyland too seriously. :)

My uncle gave me a bunch of Mame roms to play when I was a kid and it included many weird games like this and JJ Squawkers. Man I was tripping as a kid before I even knew what a trip was :o
