    Roots are the only CC thats hard for HiRez to label as either a hard CC or Soft CC since it can trigger Hard CC items like Magis Cloak or Spirit Robe

    Fun fact about fears if the enemy is walking away from you the fear will disorient them and make them walk towards you but if they are facing you the fear will make them look the other way so shenanigans like hades fear into medusa ult can be done.
    This doesn't apply to hun batz ult because the character isn't the source of the fear the totem is.

      @Jo P it's technically not a slow though, as i said in my previous response, not just the movement or animations of the gods are slowed, but the whole "game" or things inside it such as durations or cool downs I think so as the devs explained when they launched it, it's a new cc that's time slow/acceleration

    Don't forget that knockups also keep you moving with your current momentum, so when used right they're also really good displacement. Think about the times that a Jing Wei has hit you with her insanely high knockup and launched you 60 units in a straight line.

    I feel like Pulls should be higher, though it really depends on the distance. but an ability like Sylvanus pull can be godlike on it's own, due to its ability to basically give your team a free kill in teamfights

      godlike yes, but many are just plain awful due most having to be stationary to use it, making easier it to miss and leave you open. If you can't land this, then you don't exist in the cc department

      Yea in my opinion pulls are the best cc in the game. You force characters out of position beyond any other cc and I believe every pull in the game has a stun attached to it so I think it should at least be higher then a stun (had to look up awilix and it does even though it's really short and not in the description)
      Also the lack of pull immunity in smite with only one Character (Jorm) having pull immunity outside of characters with complete cc immunity.
      Knockups are great but they are one of the most easy to immune of the ccs as tons of characters have knockups immunity in their kit and there is a huge variance between between different abilities in how good knockups are look at tyr's offense stance fearless vs defence stance one for example.

    Oloron Ult doesn’t count as its own form of CC? It’s more than a regular slow since it slows everything not just movement.

    Pull and knockback are the same thing but in different directions. A knockback is essentially a 'push'. They need to be ranked equally as an enemy is stunned during both.

    Complain about banish. Soma banishes can be purified, some can't. You can purify Arthur and Janus banish, but Ne Zha and Kumba can't be purified unless you pre-beads it.
    In case of Janus banish, it acts similarly to roots, it disables movement. In case of Ne Zha, you're banishing someone for a decent amount of time, enough for some setup or removing someone from a teamfight. Banish needs to be devided in two groups, and one that can be purified be somewhere low, one that lasts longer and needs to be pre-beadsed to be in top10

    Great list the only thing I would consider swapping is cripples and slows, because sprint wingblade and many god abilities grant slow immunity. You also gave it some extra consideration due to it being easy to apply but earlier in the list you were saying you were only being judged by what you would rather get hit by in a situation. Cripple is a death sentence on many gods or a beads/ult force out

    Just want to add a little tidbit ramp-to-root/ramp-to-stun. It doesn't actually slow. If it did, winged blade would get procced, slow immunities would proc, etc. Actually, when Baron was released, they treated it as a slow into a root. On patch 5.13 they changed it to ramp-to-root and, fun fact, when you are getting "slowed", you're actually rooted. This is also where Chronos got changed with a ramp-to-stun. Furthermore, before this change, if you cleansed the slow, the root/stun would still apply if the cleanse finished before. So treating a ramp-to-stun and ramp-to-root as a single stun and root fixed that problem too.

    Arent diminishing returns important to note? Especially because knockups and a few niche cc like slippery surface are immune to them, other ones are cut by a third for every cc you take unless noted otherwise

    Personally, banish should be placed as the worst CC as it can be a severe detriment to a team fight when used incorrectly. I don't know how many times a Freya or Janus saved someone on the enemy team with a banish. I've been guilty of this in my early days of Smite.

    I used Skadi slippery slope in siege, the enemy was moving from side to side into a wall and into a wall. This was so fun to see it took 4 to 6 seconds for the enemy to get off the slippery slope ability.

    I am a skadi main and what I don’t think many realize is the defensive use of it.
    If the melee jungler jumps on you and you drop that at your feet, put your dog on them, and your one is up, that’s a ton of burst before the melee bank even hits you and may just be the difference.

    I've been caught on so many slippery surfaces in corners, where I end up bouncing across it 2 or 3 times before I'm free (or dead). Definitely strong but it feels like a high skill curve CC. I'd maybe put it below slows and cripples since those are easier to use, but still a strong CC for sure

    I feel like knockups aren't the most impactful, maybe I just use gods with channeled knockup immunity too much

      They aren't affected by diminishing returns and can't be beads. The only other cc like that is xbla ult but that has an ult cooldown. Thankfully a lot of gods have knockup immunity in their kits otherwise the best comps in the game would be 5 knock on the enemy team.

      Agreed it feels like half the gods in the game have a form of knockups immunity.
      I feel like that should take it down a notch.
      Certain knockups like herc pull or sobek pluck are godly but it's more because the displacement then the knockup itself. Imo pulls are much stronger then knockups as displacement plus interruption is far stronger then a longer interruption.

    Please note that if you are CCed to hell(stun-locked) it doesn't make you a trash player and you shouldn't call someone trash if they are stun-locked. Don't know how many times I just got CCed for +20 seconds because people just kept saving their stuff for me, I mostly play frontliners.

I literally had a game with a Nox, Ganesha, Eset, Ama, and Cerno where I build Attack speed Odin because I knew I would not be able to use abilities that game because of all the silences.

So I think you can have custom modes, most of the time it's like Match of the Day options, but added some more options like No CC would change the game completely. I was thinking on asking Hi-Rez if they would add the map morphing feature to those custom modes. It would be interesting to be able to chose whether or not the vine walls are active as well as the new Drauger. Even better if they could add those features on the old Joust map(the 3rd one) so you could have a completely customizable map and modes.

    so knockup and knockup are a very weird thing in smite. they are the same but also not. saying "they are very much not the same they have very different effects" is just untrue.
    for example: if a god is stated to be "immune to knockback" like Ares during the channel of his 3, that god is also immune to knockup. always.
    other example: aphrodite 2 is obviously a knockback. noone would argue that you fly up into the air and it's a knockup. the ability states "knocking them back" and not "knocking them up". awilix ult on the other hand states "god that is either leaping or knocked up into the air", yes "into the air" is part of the description. but you can still pull someone if the are knocked back by aphro 2. granted the time frame is fairly small, but it does work.
    in addition, the description for Knockup and Knockback in the ingame glossary is literally the same.
    on the other hand Wukong ult is supposed to be instantly destroyed when hit by Hard CC except for banishes and knockbacks. for example, hou yi 3 cannot destroy it instantly (because it's a knockback), but herc 2 can because it's a knockup. it is really really weird in that regard.
    and in addition to all of that i would really _really_ like to know if you can cleanse a knockback in the middle of the duration. like, are you actually sure you can interrupt the displacement once it's started? or is it just more noticable with knockups because you sometimes fly for 2 seconds before you hit the ground again and like anhur 2 makes you go from one place to another in .2 milliseconds
    in short: knockups and knockbacks are actually the same for almost all interactions, but there are some weird things going on.

      Well u have to do ult before the knockup hits he is saying once you are in the air u cannot do shit. U can't pop beads and force yourself down.
      Only thing in the game that counters knock up is Jing Wei dash

    Heimdallr's ultimate should be 1, it's a stun, knock up, displacement, a blind pretty much until they land, and it's easy to not expect it since he like getting close with his 2 anyways.

      It's more of a stun into a banish that also blinds and knocks you back, if it was an actual knock-up then you'd be able to hit an enemy while they're under the effects of it.

    Nice video, I wouldnt have guess there were so many different CCs !
    I just don't really understand Fear over Stun. Yes the displacement can SOMETIMES be a positive thing but most of the time i feel like its not. Like imagine if Hun Batz ultra was a Stun instead of a fear ?? Would be much stronger. Most of the time the fear gets the enemy away from you, especially like if you hit them under power or something

      Not really. Bcs imagine a team fight and Hun Batz ult. The whole enmy team will spread, be disorientaded and confused ( even if it is for a second ) and can't use abilities. Meanwhile your team can pick off the most dangerous one. With a stun you can't move and you can't use abilities but you know what is going on, you know where everyone is and you are ready for the fight as soon as the stun duration is over.

      @@tanner2105 I think his point was if everyone was stunned instead of feared it's a better setup for something like a scylla ult, kraken, persephone ult, etc. When they're chased and scattered, yeah you can pick off 1 or 2, but with the stun you can literally wipe the whole team if they don't have beads. Also, in joust. I think fear from Morgan Le Fay is annoying, but in a lane focused mode like joust, I prefer stuns too. Each is entitled to their opinion and they're both strong, so no one is wrong. I think taunts are the most annoying because they're also much easier to land than knockups imo, and not easily telegraphed

    Very nice. I agree, however the most annoying ability in the whole game is without a doubt a max rank freeze Ymir stun… it literally just last until you’re dead. You almost can’t ever live no matter who you’re playing as.. it’s a 3 hour long stun where the whole team can back to fountain but items, do fire giant, get gold fury, take all three Phoenix and then double back to kill you while the timer counts down. Unless I have beads I’m not joking when I say I never see a Ymir freeze timer expire on anyone in my games.

      Tyr's charge is a knockback into a knock-up, his 2 can then knock them up again if they're still in the air.

    love the tier list concept on this. here are my thoughts on the cc that might have been left out.
    i feel like vortex is basically a root, if we're talking about hades
    walls are a form of cc. like yemoja ult. actually notably yemoja. ymir isnt really the same when it comes to closing people off to rake obscene amounts of damage. (on that note there is odin's cage too)
    theres babas green potion which has attack speed and power reduction (though not sure if this counts as cc or debuff)

      I’d say this is below a stun but above roots/cripples. Not quite a stun cuz you still have access to your movement but turning your character to face the right direction in order to very slowly execute your ability is definitely a much longer and more detrimental CC

    I think there is a mistake. Knockback is the same CC to Knockup and the difference is that the enemy knocked in the direction they moved. Hercules push is Grab CC

    "ramp to root' isn't an effect... it's a slow that ramps to a root, the slow effect ramps up and then applies a root effect. 2 effects.

    Imo slippery surface should be at the bottom since the area is so small and u can avoid it easily. Also it's not that bad even if it hits. I used to main skadii and I just feel I rather have an escape or a better cc instead since they can still move.

    Did you account for DR on this list? I don't recall hearing a mention but I believe Banishes dont diminish AND aren't affected by it. Knockups still great because they aren't affected but they DO apply it. Someone fact check me?

    Silences are the CC's that I hate the most in Smite, ESPECIALLY those that are used by NOX. Words cannot describe how much I hate that one particular Goddess. She is literally the BANE of my entire existence. So if I'm fighting a team that has a Nox on their team, I have come to ALWAYS asking my teammates to keep Nox off of me.

    I have to agree with you about Insanity being the worst cc in the game. To be truthful, I didn't even REALIZE I'd been hit by Insanity stacks. I was just seeing the things that were the side effects of having those stacks on my character and I was like, "Huh. Where'd those things come from?".

    I think you underrated movement CCs. Pull and Vortex would be way higher for me (at least higher than Slow and Root for sure, they're just straight up better)

      I agree with the pull but not the vortex, because if you're thinking of Hades, that's a vortex and a slow, but Poseidon's vortex for example is not that much annoying as CC, the cripple is on that one.

    I actually think ramp to root should be behind slows on this list just because a ramp to root can be completely cleansed with a movement ability, which means the slow goes with it, making it a lot worse than both a root and a slow in my opinion.

    Banish is underrated.
    I dont believe someone can beads a knockback after the fact. Herc's two* is the only case.

    Upon reflection I feel like putting disco 2 madness is unfair to put over Taunt or Stun tbh. Situational, and if it only hits one person it's a root, which isn't as strong as taunt or Stun.

    Skadi 3 should be in first just like cab's tremble, not because they are constant. But because 0.00001% of them time it work 100% of the time and you just have to accept death because game said so. Aka when for some reason you just cant leave the aoe no mather what you do
