      Pretty much the same way except for using dill pickle relish not sweet. (I don't like sweet pickles.) But I didn't know it was "Southern." To me, it's just deviled eggs.

    That’s the same way I make my eggs! And for those of you that have issues with pealing the shell after cooking place eggs right away in a bowl with ice water swirl them around the ice for a couple of minutes and the shells just come right off!

    • @tennesseeiris701
      @tennesseeiris701 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I drop mine in ice water also as they are HOT and difficult to handle, also you need to keep them wet as you peel. The water needs to get under the membrane and the shells will slide off.

    Very similar to my deviled eggs. I use dill relish as I am not a fan of sweet things and also add just a touch of mustard. Love deviled eggs.

  • @mickeyreed6338
    @mickeyreed6338 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    When I make deviled eggs I always add two extra eggs, just in case I need to taste, but to make the yolk mixture I always use the food processor and put everything in it, but first I put in the yolks and get them well "torn" up - then I start adding the mayo, mustard, salt, pepper. I don't put the pickled relish in. But I do get plenty of compliments on this recipe.

    As far as peeling eggs, running under cold water or plunging in ice bath works well, as Tennessee Iris suggested. It also helps to not use fresh eggs, as the membrane is still clinging to the inner shell. Older eggs, the membrane has started to pull away, thus making it easier to peel.

    • @charitys.3862
      @charitys.3862 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fresh eggs are the hardest to peel no matter what youdo!! We used to have a bunch of chickens at our house in GA, we're thinking of getting some here soon, Im excited. White eggs, brown eggs, green eggs, pink eggs, blue eggs, yes, they come in all colors and believe it or not, they are all completely identical as far as taste and nutrition so it doesn’t matter what color the outside is unless your using them to make colored Easter eggs.
