    Congratulations on your sister's baby!!
    This looks like two straightforward jobs. It seems the intake manifold has to come off for more and more maintenance work!

    I replaced the starter on my 2007 Honda Accord V6 at about 105K miles. Even easier than the 4 cylinder... just remove the battery and battery tray, and starter is right there.

      To save money, I also put in a new non reman AC Delco starter, and it's held up for 70K miles so far.

      The V6 are a lot easier but we don't change them as much as the 4 cylinder. I do it the same way on the 2007 and up CRV I just remove the battery and tray and slide the half of the manifold towards the battery tray side.

    Had one that was missing the cover for the coverter bolts and a rock bounced up in there and wedged the starter to the crank. Turned it back and it fell out.

    Congrats on being a new Uncle ! ! !
    Was wondering.......did you charge Flat Rate or snappy finger time for the starter ? 🤣🤣

      Lol I was impressed on how that finger snapped turned out. Quoted 1.5 for the starter book time was 1.9 but I knew how easy it was so I was fine with 1.5. and customer did the ignition switch so I got 2hrs total.

    is the OEM starter made in Japan by Denso? My 95 Civic were bad in the day.

    Perfect timing...my starter is cutting out and making horrible grinding noises. Honda wanted 500 bucks and only 1 year warranty! Outrageous. Just went with duralast, at least it has lifetime. Also, do you replace the o-rings for the manifold? I ordered some just in case.

    • @theoffroadingmechanic

      Is this for this accord? The half of the manifold uses a metal gasket. Might want the gasket for the throttle body since it is a paper type gasket. If it is grinding while cranking over might want to check the teeth the starter engages to for damage on the flywheel/torque converter.

    • @radisnooker5

      @theoffroadingmechanic it's a civic with the plastic manifold so it's probably different. hoping the flywheel is ok, it's only happened twice and I'm gonna do the repair in a couple days
      Edit: yep, the newer k24z motors use o-rings for the manifold and tb. Cleaned the throttle plate while i was there. She starts up like a dream now!

    I have a 2011 accord v6 starter makes a noise only when it gets below 45 degrees Fahrenheit and only on the first start of the day it's been doing this for two years lol

    • @theoffroadingmechanic

      Is it like a rattling grinding noise? The bendix drive probably isn't retracting quick enough from either all the debris or surface corrosion on the shaft it moves up and down on.

      @theoffroadingmechanic not a grind at all. Sounds very similar to this th-cam.com/users/shortsdCMSrxaeg7Q?si=Z4ZrLkWtLJ_j3gi_

    What's the best way to tell with a no start if it's the battery or the starter?

    • @theoffroadingmechanic

      You'll be able to tell when you put a jumper battery on and it still won't crank just know what the starter solenoid sounds like when it engages the bendix. But also make sure you are able to physically rotate the crank.
