Agreed. I knew about 2/3 of the bands beforehand but loved the episode and idea. If you like this, you could try out what Julia's drawing reminded me of, Wormwitch.
Some of you were not paying attention to SW's last EP. They were already well under way down the black metal path (especially on "Red Death, White Light"), and this song shows that continued progression. This track is brilliant, and I can't wait to hear the whole album.
Well, they were Blackened Thrash from their very first record. It's nothing new. (I'm not talking about Beyond the Permafrost, the very first album: At One with the Shadows.)

This gives me hope for the new album. Progressive from their old sound, but full of depth and ambience. Anxious to hear the rest of what they have to offer with this album.
I had no idea dude from Wolvhammer was on vocals now. I think this shit is great, but I'm a huge Wolvhammer fan so I can see how die hard Skeletonwitch fans might take awhile to come around. It has a way more serious and darker feel than their previous records.
Ridgeway Jones check out The Apothic Gloom Ep that Adam first did with the band in 2016. A great blend of their classic sound with some of this new direction. I'm stoked for the new album.
Oh shit I didnt even know it was the guy from Wolvhammer haha the funny thing is Eternal Rotting Misery is literally the track after this one in my playlist, still didn't notice lmao
Their best song in many years, maybe ever imo, and I’ve been a fan for a loooong time. This is a lesson to other bands in how to reinvent your sound to keep things fresh without losing the soul or the quality.
IT RIPS. Can't wait for July. Some of the most talented dudes in music today. The guitar tones are fucking awesome. So stoked to have a Kurt Ballou produced Skeletonwitch album.
Talented group of individuals. Got to meet them after the Phoenix show, such nice dudes too. That solo is perfect. It has a Pink Floyd feel to it. So many good riffs. Bass line is also solid as always. Can't wait for the whole album to come out. Need to see them live again and again. They definitely have become my favorite band.
I dig it. So many people don't like Chance being out, and that's understandable. However, I feel that this is the freshest the band has sounded in years, and I love The Apothic Gloom EP to death. Let the boys experiment a little. It's a good thing.
First a Rivers of Nihil album with saxophone, now a progressive black metal Witch. Man, 2018 is weird. If Pig Destroyer puts out a funeral doom album, I wouldn't be shocked at this point. That said, this song isn't bad, it's just not the riff-driven blackened thrash I associate with Skeletonwitch.
I am 67 years. Never heard this band. Formulaic to me. Someone who really likes this and Is young and exploring might try classic Death albums if they haven't already. Chuck has reached world icon status and deservedly so. But I am quite impressed by this vocalist. Reminiscent of Abbath but with a bad case of hemmoroids and constipation. I like him. Quite unique.
mikey seweyestwa aside for the song not sounding like black metal or having black metal vocals... it does sound like a metal core band imitating black metal feel hahahahaha funny comment
PSALM 119:105 i guess they are not trying to imitate black metal sound or any other sound... they're just growing as musicians and making their own sound... using melodic and modern metal elements... even since their first album you can hear the modern elements and they've always been open minded musicians and an amazing band... i know this album is gonna be awesome even if there are "trves" that doesn't like how the music evolves
Just saw Skeletonwitch last night in Boston. Get ready if your going to a show on this tour. Totally blew me away. Vicious riffs. Excellent show those mother fuckers shred. Get ready people. Aghhhhhhh
Okay, I've listened to this song five times now, and it's growing on me. This is still Skeletonwitch after all, so I'm willing to give them a fair shake. I will say, that rhythm riff (2:16) kicks ass. I'm glad it repeats later on in the song. The melodic part is beautiful, but I wish the solo was a bit louder in the mix. It's a killer solo otherwise.
Nick Denoyer that riff is the one that keeps bringing me back. 3rd listen now, have liked it more with each listen. I liked Apothic Gloom. Love the old shit even more, but I like the direction they're headed. They're growing and still riffing.
he's not exactly wrong despite that label being rather cumbersome to read lol. tbh at this point I feel like they've crossed over from blackened thrash into full-on melodic black metal, I get a big dissection vibe from this in particular.
Until I heard this I wasn't really on board w the new skeletonwitch style/vocals, but goddamn this is awesome, it may not be as thrashy & rifftastic as their older stuff but this is solid af, if they keep going in this direction count me in.
I'm so happy they finally crossed the line into black metal they've been teetering on since the beginning. all it took was a new singer I guess, but this is great stuff.
*Please read my full comment before bashing me. You'll be glad you did* This is definitely not Skeletonwitch of old. Based off of this sound, I almost think they should've changed their name. Skeletonwitch was blackened thrash. This is straight up progressive black metal. That being said, this is FANTASTIC. Holy shit this is amazing. I wasn't sold on Adam's vocals on the Apothic Gloom, but holy shit this is great stuff. What a fucking vocal. I get a Fiction-era Dark Tranquillity vibe from the vocals and the song. Sounds like "Inside the Particle Storm" in bits.
i discovered this album recently as well. love it because it's like insomnium and wolfheart. two of my favourite melodic death metal bands. totally different from their previous albums. love it.
I fucking loved every one of your records till now, from At One with the Shadows and 2005's Demo to Serpents Unleashed. Not one (except Worship the Witch EP) underwhelmed me, forget disappointing... And looking forward to listening to Devouring Radiant Light in a few hours. I, am, super excited. I am hyped. This track sounds fucking brilliant, it's progressive, beautiful, monstrous and so fucking dope. I can't wait.
Hope the rest of the album carries the same feel. Change is inevitable and while I’d love to see another Breathing the Fire album, the dark melodic grooves are rad and it’s nice to see them stretch out a bit.
While I loved Chance, and I consider the albums with him masterpieces, the style of the songs was getting a bit stale. After hearing Red Death, White Light, I was sold. Seeing Adam perform with them about a month later solidified that thought. I love the more progressive sound.
So glad I finally found out about this band. This is some legit heavy shit.. I get the diehards liking Chance.. but from what I've heard between this album and their previous, this sound is top notch. but I like Wolvhammer though too so there's that
Damn it, Skeletonwitch. Make A NEW ALBUM ALREADY!
Same feel bro 😞
That intro had me floating the first time I ever heard it , god Damn this track is amazing skeltonwitch never disappoints
Thank you to Drawfee of all things for introducing me to a few new favorite bands.
I'd been aware of all three bands for years, it's so fucking rad that the last Drawfee ep is gonna expose a bunch of people to some sick metal
🤘🏻
INIT. Personally wizard bastard were my fave of the three. Never heard of any of those bands befor drawfee
Agreed. I knew about 2/3 of the bands beforehand but loved the episode and idea. If you like this, you could try out what Julia's drawing reminded me of, Wormwitch.
Right!? I've been listening to Powerwolf nonstop
Episode title? Please and thank you
I used to know Skeletonwitch for their sound that merges black and thrash. This song incorporates also prog elements, definitely awesome!
I miss those thrash elements though. Can't really get into this new sound
Absolutely impressive. Among the best American Metal bands right now.
Are they not Canadian?
No. They are not Canadian.
I absolutely agree about them being one of the best American bands yet they are so underrated...
From Athens, Ohio.
Great song love the new melo Black Death metal direction maybe a new genre!
That solo may not be super technical and all over the place, but that has to be one of the coolest solos ive ever heard
Some of you were not paying attention to SW's last EP. They were already well under way down the black metal path (especially on "Red Death, White Light"), and this song shows that continued progression. This track is brilliant, and I can't wait to hear the whole album.
Darth Grimby I LOVED the apothic gloom. Red Death, White Light is one of my favorite Witch tracks still. This is definitely building off of that EP.
@@myquest666420 my favorite was black waters
Check this out
Well, they were Blackened Thrash from their very first record. It's nothing new. (I'm not talking about Beyond the Permafrost, the very first album: At One with the Shadows.)

Seething sounds seeping through
Breaking down the walls, suffocating your creation
The lacquer of the tongue paints the town red
Just like the spider weaves its own web
In shades that grow ever deeper and deeper
The strongest roots are of passion
Breaching the cages of your own mind
Baptizing yourself in the fervor of the light
Lost within the fen of shadows no longer
No longer seeing the demise
With scarlet intensity in the eyes
Seething sounds seeping through
Breaking down the walls, suffocating your creation
The lacquer of the tongue paints the town red
Just like the spider weaves its own web
In shades that grow ever deeper and deeper
The strongest roots are of passion
Swarming inside the purest of hearts
Surrounded by these hallowed grounds
Lost within the fen of shadows no longer
No longer seeing the demise
With scarlet intensity in the eyes
Seething sounds seeping through
Breaking down the walls, suffocating your creation

MVP!
anyone who doesn't like this singer has something wrong with them IMO. I love this guys voice. It fits the music perfectly. Love this song man.
This song is so good man. Really grew on me after a few lessons.
This song is just excellent. Very impressed with the direction, here's to hoping the rest of the album is like this!
I wake up to skeleton witch today. Its gonna be great
This gives me hope for the new album. Progressive from their old sound, but full of depth and ambience. Anxious to hear the rest of what they have to offer with this album.
I'm blown away that these guys are American. They have a very European metal style to them. Don't hear many American bands that sound so epic.
Listen to Uada, they're american and sound like Mgla's.
Mastodon
Brian Charyn Beat me to it. Kylesa is pretty heavy too
Necropanther. Stupid name, fantastic music
Abigail Williams
Officially my new favorite Skeletonwitch song. This is fucking phenomenal.
Im really enjoying this song, hope that the rest of the album will maintain this quality.
Love the work on guitars, this vocals way darker than before, and of course, the black approach specially for this song...great song \m/
Is this Skeletonwitch? The song is 3x longer than I expected and I love that
I had no idea dude from Wolvhammer was on vocals now. I think this shit is great, but I'm a huge Wolvhammer fan so I can see how die hard Skeletonwitch fans might take awhile to come around. It has a way more serious and darker feel than their previous records.

Much better vocalist and he aint a dick
Oh shit I didnt even know it was the guy from Wolvhammer haha the funny thing is Eternal Rotting Misery is literally the track after this one in my playlist, still didn't notice lmao
Jackson RRXT I mean the guy did get charged with assault on a family member
How did I JUST come across this?? I'm behind the times on this one. Saw these guys in Chicago with Amon Amarth. Killer show.
Loving this track, July 20th can't come soon enough.
Seeing them in 2 days Boston
I am so excited for the new album. Just saw these guys live and their musicianship is flawless.
Skeletonwitch showing their depth of talent 💚
Their best song in many years, maybe ever imo, and I’ve been a fan for a loooong time. This is a lesson to other bands in how to reinvent your sound to keep things fresh without losing the soul or the quality.

Long time caller, first time listener. This is pretty impressive.
These guys were just in line in front of me at the Frankfurt airport. Never heard of them before but I like it. Nice guys too.
Yes!!! That's more like it!!! Finally sold on the new singer. Love the new direction. Smart move on their part.
That Riff.... I could loop that all day
This new stuff is so much better. Song writing is way more creative and the black metal flavor is extra awesome.
This song is amazing when it's played live! As well as recording.
Amazing album, really like the style.
FINALLY !!! I've been dying and waiting for the sequel to "The Apothic Gloom"
The vibe this gives off is amazing
I'm a simple man. I see Skeletonwitch, I click like.
I'm a simple man. I see Jeremy Sanchez liking Skeletonwitch, I also click like.
I'm a simple man. I see isl1551 liking Jeremy Sanchez for liking Skeletonwitch, I also click like
I'm a simple man. I listen to the entire song. I click Like if it's good. In this case yes :D
I'm a simple man
I'm a simple woman.
So from blackened thrash to prog black ala hmm..Enslaved, im in. Heres my money. Riffs for days!!!
You know it's a good day when you get som new Skeletonwitch :D
Saw these guys with The Red Chord and Job for a Cowboy. Amazing show.
My drive in to work has never been better!!
I dig it. So many people don't like Chance being out, and that's understandable. However, I feel that this is the freshest the band has sounded in years, and I love The Apothic Gloom EP to death. Let the boys experiment a little. It's a good thing.
This is the kind of stuff I hoped for since the release of their last EP.
05:27 on...man I hope this album is full of stuff like that. I'm ready for the Witch to go full Black Album.
Dude right! Did not see that coming
black album as in black metal or black album Metallica?
Metallica's Black Album - I'm ready for someone like these guys to really bite into that forbidden fruit.
videomancy i wanna see them become a metal giant, so yes 🙌🏻
Nikka dats the gayest part of the song...
Love the new direction boys!!!!! I'm feeling that Enslaved/Scandinavian influence. See ya'll back in Toronto soon!
I think Pig Destroyer already did: Natasha and Mass and Volume are both Pig Destroyer doing doom
Definitely doomy/sludgey in an Inter Arma kind of way. But far from funeral doom.
Winterfylleth did a full folk album too. Lol 2018 has been a weird one
Fest forward one year, Darkthrone goes prog sludge
Really digging the new Skeletonwitch :) \m/
I love the mood and sound of this song, great job guys!
Absolutely my most favourite intro so beautifully composed hope to see skeletonwitch sometime in the near future bravo lads! My new favourite band
I can't believe this came out on my birthday and I had no idea until now.
I've never clicked on any video faster than this in my life.
All hail the witch \m/
This is super legit. Riffs for days.

and this is a good thing :)
Sounds amazing...this style is even better for them.
Haters hate cause they cant write riffs anywhere near as well as skeley witch can. Posers...
This is pretty epic. I've got it on loop.
Holy shit...this song is so balanced and damn good. First song I heard of them. I liiike
Genuinely beautiful song
Fuuuuckkkkkk! I wish these guys would drop a new album.
This sounds like the best music they've ever released. Skeletonwitch 2.0 ppl! Def wanna see them on tour. \,,/
This is so good. Stoked for this record.
This song so unbelievably poignant. It invokes so many emotions that no amount of complex synonyms could properly describe.
This is phuking awesome! I need the whole album now!
Just saw Skeletonwitch last night in Boston. Get ready if your going to a show on this tour. Totally blew me away. Vicious riffs. Excellent show those mother fuckers shred.

Love how they’re changing it up.
stoked to see them in toronto as part of the obituary tour.
Fixin' to buy tickets to see yall
Oh man!! This is so bad ass!! Sounds great through the headphones!
OMG I live this new album
Amazing black metal, looking forward to the rest of the album
Melodic blackened death/thrash to be even more precise!
he's not exactly wrong despite that label being rather cumbersome to read lol. tbh at this point I feel like they've crossed over from blackened thrash into full-on melodic black metal, I get a big dissection vibe from this in particular.
Jakromha There's no death anywhere in this
Until I heard this I wasn't really on board w the new skeletonwitch style/vocals, but goddamn this is awesome, it may not be as thrashy & rifftastic as their older stuff but this is solid af, if they keep going in this direction count me in.
Fucking stoked. I'm loving the longer format songs.
Loving the underlying melodies
Beautiful.
Damn, color me impressed. This song is awesome.
YEEEES! I love this! I love that it has kinda a progressive sound to it, it keeps the song from becoming boring
I appreciate the progressive touch, the groove is excellent. Will be looking forward to this album.
I'm so happy they finally crossed the line into black metal they've been teetering on since the beginning. all it took was a new singer I guess, but this is great stuff.
THIS SONG IS SO GOOD. i saw you guys twice in boise idaho!!
cant wait to see you guys live again :-) #metaldays
Great Skeleton Witch, great track
I've just discovered them. This track is powerful :)

Man, this. I 1000% agree with you on this post, thank you.
Hail The Witch!!! Best thing to come outta my home town
Great song. Particularly outstanding ending, indeed.
Very memorable riff at the end.
Excellent work.i like much.
ive liked this band since the first time ive heard them

First time listening to this band.
This is fucking awesome melodic atmospheric black metal.
You should check Varathron's latest album mate. You'll probably love it
pariskotsaros never heard of it. Thank you, I will!
Okayyyyyyy, I'm diggin' what I'm hearin'
Not as aggressive as you guys used to be but I still dig it! Can’t wait to hear the rest.
Please, keep this up. This is incredible!!!
I'm pretty stoked for this album the new singer and sound put me off at first but I'm used to it now and I think this song is brilliant
Yessssssss!!!!!!! They back
High hopes for this album.. great song!! \m/
Coming back strong
While I loved Chance, and I consider the albums with him masterpieces, the style of the songs was getting a bit stale. After hearing Red Death, White Light, I was sold. Seeing Adam perform with them about a month later solidified that thought. I love the more progressive sound.
