Man!! I've been looking for someone to do a series on rebuilding this exact engine for almost two years now! I've skirted around doing the engine by finishing the interior, body work, etc on my 79, and I just recently got the head prepped to go back together. Just got the new engine enamel put on last night and I was looking to see if anyone had posted about reassembly. Saw your series of vids had just come out fairly recently and rejoice, you're building the EXACT same car I am! Subscribed to your channel man, can't wait to see how everything goes back together. Just waiting on my cams to complete my head. I wasn't planning on doing the bottom end but yours looks so good I think I may have just changed my mind. Cheers!

The valve cover washers that you changed to aluminum, they are meant to be a gasket so oil does not leak from those cam tower cover bolt holes. I don''t know if those aluminum washers will work, or whether they will leak oil.

The aluminum washers came in the engine gasket set. We will see. I could put some sealer around them if I need to.

Question. In the valley with the spark plugs there are two sensors (nothing is hooked up to them on my car). Are they additional water temp sensors?

They are temperature sensors. The wires are coming out of the bulkhead under the latch. One is for the gauge, the other is for the red light

I may have missed it in a earlier video, but where did you get the new engine hardware kit?

I ordered nuts, bolts and washers from boltdepot.com
The website had an easy interface for sorting.
All the sizes were in individual bags.
Socket cap bolts are a personal preference, I think they look better.
Used them on the VF500 build I have posted as a slideshow. That one I went with Titanium bolts, bet I saved a whole pound, may not have been worth the expense.

Are those gears SUPPOSED to be facing opposite directions like that? I would think that the lip would face the same side for both timing gears.

Those are factory, keeps the belt from slipping off the front and back while spinning.

The motor looks fantastic 👍 I’m working on a Fiat 2000 myself and these videos are a great help. Did you spray or brush the por 15?

The block was brushed, the rest were sprayed
