I'm trying not to get triggered by my PTSD of getting into video editing in 2015 using Premiere lol The lack of features, the ugly interface, the layout design. But the 1 thing that almost made me rip my hair out was the SPEED. CapCut makes me believe there is a God out there because he created CapCut and then realised it into the world for FREE OF CHARGE, while PP has the audacity to charge you 20 bucks for as long as you want to use it, while CapCut PRO is like half that price, but 20x better. PP is very weak without After Effects. Thank you Trevor for making this unbiased comparison, I actually learnt some new features in CapCut from this video

i used my smartphone to record audio and recorded it to a cubase audio recording..still cant get 100% video/audio sync..it´s slightly off..how to fix? I use CapCut.
Right click on both tracks and hit sync video to sound. However, some smart phones can record at a variable frame rate that's CLOSE to what you have it set to so the audio MAY drift over time. So you might have to get it close and adjust it every minute or so.
@@TrevorJonescreator thanks for the fast response, allthough I recorded in 60fps with my phone. The video seems somehwhat synced from the beginning but in the end it gets noticably out of sync..I have tried everything by now but cant seem to get it straightened out.. Any other suggestions?
dang sorry. ya, it's drifting. You have to detach the audio from the video (if that's the audio your keeping) and manually adjust it. By that I mean cut the audio into maybe 60 second segments and bump them left or right to get sync at the beginning of each 60 second section of audio. I'm not certain what you have in our timelines, but you might beable to use the sync feature to sync each 60 second section by cutting it all into 60 second chunks (all audio and video tracks). I used 60 as an example - but just use whatever length you need to. Cut before sync gets really bad. @@ralphieralph9176

CapCut DOES have some motion graphics capablities, but it's limited compared Premiere and especially after effects. What specifically would you want capcut to add?
Ok so my question is.... How do people make such cool transitions in premiere pro? Are they doing it all manually? I've downloaded some transitions/templates and it takes forever to render or doesn't at all...... If this is the "industry standard" then how are people working with it efficiently? I'm currently working with premiere pro for editing my clients podcast, and making reels. I'm thinking of switching to capcut because of the transitions and how easy/fast it is but long-term I want to have portfolio type work and I'm afraid the content I make in capcut won't be up to "standard" simply because the transitions/effects are all "done for me". Any thoughts?
Just out of curiosity, why not bring a clip into the timeline, and then trim it up? Just seems like extra work to trim the clip before the timeline, as you will very likely continue to trim and adjust on the timeline.
I tried capcut for their remove background feature which is not so good for doing with 3 front subjects so didn't go any further and drop it ... Been using shotcut for several years and it does the job for me, Premiere is too fat
i'm trying to decide where I want to land now with my editing software. I started a 30 day challenge with i movie just because it was free. I have used adobe but I'm looking into cap cut
For a beginner, I would 100% use CapCut. What you learn trasnfers to other apps. I HATE imovie. If you want more advanced features, Premiere and DaVinci are both great. I'd start with the free version of CapCut and get GOOD at it. Go to a pro app later if you feel you need it. Most people do not.
CapCut is probably easier to use with some really cool effects and Filmora is a little closer to Adobe Premiere in terms of functionality. I think you have a little more control in Filmora than CapCut, but I haven’t messed with Filmora in a long time. I consider CapCut a more basic program than Filmora.
Actually... in CapCut you do have multiple audio tracks and to see the waveforms from a video file just right click and hit "extract audio"! CapCut keeps getting better and better!
Because I've been editing for 25 years and am insanely picky, I edit with Premiere. Because I don't have enough time in a day to get this many videos out for you guys, www.EditingMachine.com is doing a lot of my editing for me now, including this video. I've shown them how I like my videos and get to review every video before it goes live and make changes. Really happy with them. That said, a video like this would be really easy to edit in CapCut.
Great video on the comparison between the Premier pro and Capcut! I will go with Capcut as a new video editor for my hobbies. Keep up the great work and looking forward to your future on capcut tutorials!
In premiere by the way, the new version has an enhance audio button on essential sounds that will make your audio like you are speaking directly to mic and remove bg noise.
I appreciate how you make out time to read and reply comments. You're in touch with your viewers. 1 sub for you. Also I've been hesitant to switch to premier pro because I'm not editing a film, it's just for social media, and so i need something that will let me work quickly while producing something of high quality.
Hi, Does anyone know... Whenever my Capcut video has finished exporting, the menu option to share to Tiktok, TH-cam etc pops up and it begins encoding a second time. I click cancel and it asks me if I want to delete the file, to which I click yes. I never want to upload to Tiktok or YT, so how do I turn off this 2nd irritating menu option? Thanks in advance.
I been having a ball with these features. I went pro a week ago. I had my videos scheduled all the way up to June but now I am redoing them all with CapCut.
The issue with capcut is not being able to customize so much. In premiere, you have your whole keyframe window where you can effortlessly move the keyframes, add time interpolation for smoother animation, etc. Same with effects, not near as many animation options with pen drawn masks.
Premiere is clearly a more professional program with way more control. But CapCut has a much wider audience - easy to use and can do most things most people need. I'll always use a more pro program like premiere, and sounds like you're in the same boat.
not getting what the big hype is on CapCut. right now paid for the pro version and I have to customize each sentence to show 2-3 words at a time? I've spent a lot of time trying to figure it out and don't see an option for it. the length of the words are not syncing with the audio so I am manually doing it myself. FireCut extension is $35 that price sucks and I have Adobe having to force me to look for something simple like that but with FireCut I would of been done with this in 5 min. I have 7 other short reels to do with captions. so far the learning curve on CapCut is not worth it. Im going to pay for FireCut cause I need to get on to more work.
What do you mean each sentence? I use capcut to edit reel and captions. Here's how. Use auto caption to create captions within 1-2mins... check the generated caption in the text window.. Increase the size of the caption (make sure you have applied to all selected to make changes to all of the captions at once), change the font, and add strokes. Then for shorts, it's ideal to have a single or max 2 line showing at once.. do that in the text window itself. Finally add animations to all of those with a simple click. Boom, done. To do that in PP would take ages, let alone the animation and formatting, the auto caption feature itself is really great, saves a ton of time.
@@irfangamingacademy4620 thanks but that doesn’t help at all. I rather pay for a plugin to get the video in premiere . Ehen adding animation, effects, transition, the speed changes automatically, is therr anyway to fix that? I want the default speed to stay the same after the animation, effect runs through, but it seems to affect the overall speed of the video seconds after it run through
I've not had that issue? Are you on the Desktop version or online version? Also, sometimes, when filming on your phone, it may be set to film at, say, 30 FPS, but it will sometimes vary a few frames either direction, and that can mess up some apps. I've seen a little of that with slo mo stuff from the iphone, but not sure how capcut deals with it otherwise.

Hello, i recorded a 12 hour gameplay session, i usually use Adobe premiere but im using capcut this time, I edited down the video to 8 hours and in the export settings, i left the 1080p, standard bitrate, 60fps but with the final video i have noticed a lot of pixeling compared to the raw footage and now im wondering if i should use capcut (i do like a lot) or go back to premiere. Im testing the higher bitrate render right now to test out
@@TrevorJonescreator So far I exported higher bitrate in CapCut, but it still does not look as lossless as the original recording. my recording is in 1080p and then i export in 1080p. . I'm wondering if upscaling the image from 1080 to 2k or 4k in the export is a trick that will help?? I need to free up space on my storage before I re-edit in Premiere and i will try to upscale it for the first time... I am using DaVinci Resolve, I find this to be great software. Capcut provided convenient effects, while Davinci helped me get movies with beautiful colors. Premiere is still good software, but its features are pretty average, not standing out from other software if it's not combined with Audition and After Effect
You opted for Premiere Pro because your audio probably sounds decent 90% of the time. The filters and transitions you demonstrated in Capcut were cheesy. The Premiere Pro titling system can do some really could things that you are simply unaware of. Look at the metadata capabilities of Premiere Pro vs Capcut. Look at the customization of the GUI in Premiere Pro. Premiere Pro's custom GUI is much more important to me than cheesy transitions.
That is really interesting. As a professional editor for 24 years I'm really surprised. CapCut could even be great for a quick rough-cut or assembly on professional productions. The only thing I'd say still needed for that is XML, EDL, AAF, OMF or other cross-platform export options for mastering and grading, audio mixing etc. on the pro systems. Do you think there's a chance that's coming? Lumafusion which is also a mobile device-based editor does now support XML export, so it should be possible if there's the will to do it. Collaboration features could absolutely put CapCut at another level.
Premiere is more robust, but CapCut is easier, especially with the new color match feature if you’re going for a certain vibe. I just put up a color. Correction video a week or two ago.
The one thing that I hope capcut implements, would be better color grading tools, capcut is so much more intuitive then premiere or resolve, but I can't give up the astonishing color grading tools in resolve for bare bones tools in capcut😢
Hey Trevor, enjoyed your video! I'm interested in upgrading to the Pro version of Capcut for Mac. I've been using the free version, but I can't seem to locate the Pro version anywhere. I've been a Final Cut Pro user for over a decade, and I must say, I find Capcut to be a much better alternative. Any guidance on how to access the Pro version would be appreciated. Thanks!
I like Capcut but I wish it would load my Adobe Fonts so I don't have to import them as PNG overlays. I also would like to purchase the software once instead of paying the subscription fee. I do still use Premier to cut video then import it into Capcut.
I just did a test for you - grabbed grapes and a watermelon from stickers, blew them up huge, exported in 4k with high bit rate chosen.... and they looked great. Are you exporting in 4k with a high bit rate?
Is it all stickers or just a few? Try making sure the VIDEO you first add to the timeline was filmed in 4k. Then add the sticker on top, then export 4k. I'm assuming you're on desktop.

There's color grading and color correction. Some basics for sure could be taught in a video. Getting good at it? Takes a minute. I have a LOT to learn still.
Download clips and have at it. Tutorials won't help much beyond what the different tools do. Every eye is different. It's a pseudo science...like physics
Before I discovered your guides, I was comparing Vegas Pro, Camtasia and lastly Capcut. I have experience with both VP and Camtasia and a total noob with Capcut. One session with Capcut, I was sold with Capcut, that's how awesome it is. Now I subscribed to PRO for an annual plan. It's just awesome.
Can CapCut do "Roll edit" like in Premiere Pro and FCPX? I can't find the damn thing! Also, can I put markers on the clips? Otherwise, everything else is good.
I can't lie. I'm that "I know the REAL program (Premiere) but watching this I'm really feeling like a fool now. I'm always watching other people's videos and thinking I'm getting way behind when it comes to effects and making the videos sexy. I naturally thought I need to dive heavily into After Effects (one option) but then I see Capcut and I'm floored. Add to that the exorbitant price of the Adobe Suite and the lack of real (and seamless) features Adobe offers and the choice seems ridiculously obvious. While I still want to maintain control over the creativity of the edit and not let AI completely take the wheel (that's cheating) Capcut seems to be the much better option and to be honest, my clients really don't care what it's done in. That just want it to be sexy as hell. And it will be. Thanks for sobering me up.
exactly..all these plugins and 1 hour tutorials just for a seamless transition in adobe killed my editing excitement.so i will switch to capcut as well.
I recently built a desktop PC for basic video editing and use the free version of Capcut. I like that i can edit between my PC and my phone when I'm on the go.
Been trying to master Premiere Pro for years. Never really got any momentum but I knew it's what "real" video editors use. Tried CapCut for the first time and I've never enjoyed editing this much my whole life. It just let's you create!
Capcut works out for me just on the price of the Pro version alone. Very easy to use, as I'm getting into video editing. I can see myself jumping to something else as my skills improve (probably DaVinci Resolve), but for now, Capcut is where its at for me!
Hey, can you make a video on how to edit like PeteZ in Capcut? I'm sure everyone will love it! Also your one of my favorite TH-camr's! Keep going with the great content.
CapCut is great, but it can’t touch after effects. If you’ve already learned after effects, you’ll never go back! Most people just don’t have the ability to put that much time in to learn a professional app like that.
By this set of logic iMovie is the one editing program to rule them all 😅 For basic editing CapCut it fine… but you’ll hit your head on the ceiling quickly if you want to keep improving your visual effects and audio mixing. Premiere sucks in its own ways (that’s why I switched to DaVinci after a decade on premiere) … but it’s wayyyy ahead of CapCut in many ways especially when considering the sheer quantity of third party assets that’s can be plugged into it.
I mean.... hard no to iMovie. I've ALWAYS hated iMovie! But the rest is kinda valid. My point is that CapCut is the best app for MOST people that don't wanna be editors when they grow up. You can learn it 100x faster than Premiere and it's easier. But dude, I'm an editor. CapCut will never be my go to. Premiere guy for now, but I know Resolve is pretty epic these days.
Can you make a video with 2 locations and make it look like a person is somewhere they are not. For example, a person standing next to a volcano .. Superimposed .. maybe u have?
suprised nobody has mentioned that you can't have multiple sequences in one capcut project. I would love to use capcut but only one sequence is a deal breaker for me, and it's infuriating they won't build such a simple feature
What software are you using that allows you to switch between scenes of you teaching and the actual screen. Also is there a way to organize the transitions in CapCut? They are so unorganized!!
I record the screen with Camtasia and sync in post. Yes, the unorganization of the filters and transitions drives me nuts. The search bar helps some, but doesn’t always nail it!
They are doing that with a lot of features - they get you hooked and hope you buy. At like $10/month US it's a great value I think. They can't just make it for free. Keeping up an app like that is costly, so I don't blame them for charging. The reality is even without the pro features, you can still do everything that matter with the free version. Editing is just putting one shot after another. And the free version does that very well and a million other thinks we couldn't even dream of in a free app just a few years ago. But there are a lot of apps. The app doesn't really matter. The one you like, are good at, and does the things you need it to do is the best one. What app do you plan on using instead?
@@TrevorJonescreator Stabilization is a HUGE part of the workflow. Without it, any video shot handheld is going to be unwatchable: even stuff on a gimbal which isn't always available anyway. Doesn't matter how good the color grading is if the video is shaky. I'll go back to Davinci with it's more complicated interface and it's 100% free with a lot of features that I don't use but it has class leading stabilization
I’m torn. I’m not a pro but have been editing for 6 years. I’m very comfortable in premiere despite not using its full capabilities. Over the years I’ve tried quite a few editors hoping to find something comparable with premiere for cheaper. I’m impressed with cap cut especially with the amount of transitions, effects etc that can be done with ease. The one thing that may be a dealbreaker though is the timeline not moving with playback as I’m an audio editor if you know what I mean. I think really using both is most ideal. Premiere for initial cut and cc for bells and whistles. I will say though I have some footage with a rustle on the mic that’s unusable in premiere. My heart sank thinking I have to refilm but one button in cc and the rustle is inaudible!
It’s insanely user friendly, I can literally do whatever I want and fast. I’m not a professional video maker tho, so my question is: Can a professional video editor use CapCut pro desktop For big projects without missing any important feature?
Not like Premiere or Resolve. Put you can stack video tracks, manually sync them, and scale/postion them so you can them all at once. Not pretty, but doable.

What about CapCut/ByteDances privacy issues. I hear installing it gives the company pretty much full access to your computer.
I doubt it gives full access to your computer, but I'm sure they collect data, just like TH-cam, Instagram and Facebook. I've chosen not to worry about it. I don't have any national secrets, and I share everything anyway!
i used my smartphone to record audio and recorded it to a cubase audio recording..still cant get 100% video/audio sync..it´s slightly off..how to fix?

@@TrevorJonescreator oh, ok thx, I'll try that👍
Any other recommendations for that way of recording, in my case video recording with the phone and using audio from cubase and then importing to caocut?

For real but i velieve they will add that option

That's what I almost always do, even in Premiere. It's usually MUCH more efficient!
I tried capcut for their remove background feature which is not so good for doing with 3 front subjects so didn't go any further and drop it ... Been using shotcut for several years and it does the job for me, Premiere is too fat
Glad you found something that works for you!
I'd love to hear a comparison for color grading.
@@burrdaddy Premiere has more control with Lumetri, but the pro version of CapCut is not bad at all!
i'm trying to decide where I want to land now with my editing software.
😂😂😂 the part when you being Sacarstic about the transitions 😂😂

Waooo you did a job thanks alot. Please how can i get Pro version of Capcut desktop. Please i need it. Thanks
Its only available in some countries so far.
@@TrevorJonescreator Oh okay thank you so much
Great vid. Was kinda forced to use Premier years ago (after Filmora) but dread going back to Premier. Whats ur take on Filmora vs Capcut?
CapCut is probably easier to use with some really cool effects and Filmora is a little closer to Adobe Premiere in terms of functionality. I think you have a little more control in Filmora than CapCut, but I haven’t messed with Filmora in a long time. I consider CapCut a more basic program than Filmora.
in premiere you have multiple audio tracks and in capcut impossible to see soundwawes of each track , but now lets use best of both wordls:)
Actually... in CapCut you do have multiple audio tracks and to see the waveforms from a video file just right click and hit "extract audio"! CapCut keeps getting better and better!
What did you use to edit this video that you made?
Awesome! Thank you!
I love how honest he is
In premiere by the way, the new version has an enhance audio button on essential sounds that will make your audio like you are speaking directly to mic and remove bg noise.
Ive been using premiere over 16yrs now,
And been using capcut for a year and a half.
And i must say capcut is a definite win.
Bam!
I appreciate how you make out time to read and reply comments. You're in touch with your viewers. 1 sub for you. Also I've been hesitant to switch to premier pro because I'm not editing a film, it's just for social media, and so i need something that will let me work quickly while producing something of high quality.
CapCut will do the trick!
So i see there is a desktop and online version? Which is best?
DESKTOP! Online is good if your computer is underpowerd.
@@TrevorJonescreator Cool, thanks. Didn't know if online was getting featured desktop didn't have.
Hi,
Does anyone know...
Whenever my Capcut video has finished exporting, the menu option to share to Tiktok, TH-cam
etc pops up and it begins encoding a second time. I click cancel and it asks me if I want to delete
the file, to which I click yes.
I never want to upload to Tiktok or YT, so how do I turn off this 2nd irritating menu option?
Thanks in advance.
I been having a ball with these features. I went pro a week ago. I had my videos scheduled all the way up to June but now I am redoing them all with CapCut.
Is Pro with having I really can't figure the advantage. I need to do some videos with subtitles, can the standard caput do that.
The issue with capcut is not being able to customize so much. In premiere, you have your whole keyframe window where you can effortlessly move the keyframes, add time interpolation for smoother animation, etc. Same with effects, not near as many animation options with pen drawn masks.
Also, your problem with loading stuff and crashing is 90% your pc. I never have issues
You get the same abilities as cap cut , you don’t have to compress the video twice . CapCut is over rated but good for novice editors . Having consistent clients , exporting the video to CapCut is a waste of time.
Great channel .. ! I just downloaded CapCut and can't figure out how to view the Info of my clips.. P Pro it's super easy to view the clips frame rate and the resolution... Sometimes I shoot a bunch of mixed footage with different frame rates and it's nice to know at a click what the frame rate is...
Trevor please help me! I have just downloaded capcut but my tracker does not move along the timeline whilst playing/previewing my project, its driving me mad! please help!
@@TrevorJonescreator i think it has to do with "magnet" i just saw it in another video
Hi @TrevorJonescreator , I plucked few hair of mine but couldn't figure out how to make a Inclined Perspective of a Video running with Pan effect. I have seen lots of creators doing this with Screen recording and Background videos. experts say its on premier pro. Can we do that in Capcut? Please show us.. or I will keep plucking few more..
Do you mean a basic 3d effect? Ya... to my knowledge, CapCut does not have that yet. But we all want it, so I'd bet money it's coming. Some day.
I think capcut needs 3D layers and 3D Camera like Davinchi Resolve
That... would be amazing.
Nice perspective from a pro 😊. How does Capcut compare to DaVinci Resolve?
I've messed with Davinci. It's a pro app, and capcut is a beginner app. The comparison would be similar to Premiere, tho Davinci would have it's advantages.
Im testing the higher bitrate render right now to test out
I haven't done anything that long form but have seen pixelation everyone once in awhile. Let me know what you end up doing.
I've read online that it works (a Davinci Resolve User) or that it you should stick to original format so I'll see soon
@@idekfate Any time you export to a CODEC that shringks file size - like MP4 - it WILL degrade you image. Tho depending on what you start with, it may not be noticable. Upscaling to 4k may help, you just to test it. Good luck!
Great audio. Could you share what mic you’re using?
Sennheiser 416
WOOOWWW! That audio cleanup in Capcut is 🔥💪!
I am using DaVinci Resolve, I find this to be great software. Capcut provided convenient effects, while Davinci helped me get movies with beautiful colors. Premiere is still good software, but its features are pretty average, not standing out from other software if it's not combined with Audition and After Effect
Yep! Davinci is fantastic.
Premiere Pro's custom GUI is much more important to me than cheesy transitions.
is capcut completely free for pc?
Jeez. Most of this is like a slam dunk on my sweet prpro. Never thought I would look another editing program with such interest.
Ya, I dig premiere and it's still mostly what I use. But CC KILLS it in a lot of areas!
yeah but capcut isnt near what premiere pro actually can do compared to capcut. capcut is mostly presets whilst premiere pro uses your full creativity
What about Color Correction and Grading? is it better in CapCut too?
Thanks!
It's not available in all countries, unfortunately. Some have had luck with a VPN to USA, but it's hit and miss. I don't think it always works.
Thank you.
What about the colour correction & colour grading?
Great video! effects, transitions and text have always done my head in Premier Pro
Premiere is AWFUL with all of those. And I'm a Premiere guy.
I like Capcut but I wish it would load my Adobe Fonts so I don't have to import them as PNG overlays. I also would like to purchase the software once instead of paying the subscription fee. I do still use Premier to cut video then import it into Capcut.
Why are the CapCut stickers , arrows , graphics etc. LESS than crisp when exported?
I just did a test for you - grabbed grapes and a watermelon from stickers, blew them up huge, exported in 4k with high bit rate chosen.... and they looked great. Are you exporting in 4k with a high bit rate?
Yes I am exporting in 4K with the recommended bit rate. Thank you for taking the time to respond.@@TrevorJonescreator
Is it all stickers or just a few? Try making sure the VIDEO you first add to the timeline was filmed in 4k. Then add the sticker on top, then export 4k. I'm assuming you're on desktop.

Can CapCut edit S-log3 with footage? I’m a beginner in the video world
Yep. I shoot S-log3 on my Sony and add a LUT I purchased. LUTs are easy in CapCut. Just a click.
Could u plz do a tutorial on color grading, especially, skin tones on CapCut PC?
you can play around with face and Body effects. There also LUTs that you can upload and use. You can also use Hue saturations to Play with. All depends on what you want. I'll suggest Play more..
No roll... and you can only put markers on audio tracks, and it can automatically add them to the beat.
Awesome info here. Thank you. Would CapCut be a good editing program for tutorial videos with a talking head?
Amazing video but how about someone that edit videos for weddings funerals and events can capcut be used for those types of editing for. Costumes.
I recently built a desktop PC for basic video editing and use the free version of Capcut. I like that i can edit between my PC and my phone when I'm on the go.

Adobe premier pro is like an old dinosaur. If they are not carefull they will be extict.
I think they’re working on it.

Capcut works out for me just on the price of the Pro version alone. Very easy to use, as I'm getting into video editing. I can see myself jumping to something else as my skills improve (probably DaVinci Resolve), but for now, Capcut is where its at for me!
Awesome!
Is Audio noise removal and enhancement in CapCut better than from Adobe Podcast?

Great idea! I'd never heard of him but his stuff looks cool! and thank you!
I think a combination of these two softwares can make a pretty good workflow.
Looks great, but with my new found skills in After Effects, and photoshop, I will stick with Adobe Creative Cloue
CapCut is great, but it can’t touch after effects. If you’ve already learned after effects, you’ll never go back! Most people just don’t have the ability to put that much time in to learn a professional app like that.
Ich schneide seit vielen Jahren mit Premieren und dachte Capcut ist einfach eine kleine Basis Version für einfache Tiktok Cuts 😅
war es mal. Vorallem auf dem Handy. Die PC Version ist wirklich professionell!
By this set of logic iMovie is the one editing program to rule them all 😅
For basic editing CapCut it fine… but you’ll hit your head on the ceiling quickly if you want to keep improving your visual effects and audio mixing.
They recently made stabilization a pro feature. That was one of the best reasons to use the free version. I am out now
They are doing that with a lot of features - they get you hooked and hope you buy.
Crazy right?
