It may be just a generational gap. But, it saddens me some that Helmet isn't on this list. They were the band that introduced drop D to me and every guitar player I grew up with. I love this channel BTW! Keep it up!
I mean, in part I also feel that'd have to do with Helmet not being as big as bands like Tool, or Soundgarden. ask a bunch of people around if they know about Tool, Soundgarden, Rammstein and eventually you'll get some people that know or have about them. Helmet though, you'll have to do some digging, which is a shame since I feel that they had some of the hardest drop d riffs out there.
Great selection! Slither is awesome. Props for including Sonne and Fallen Leaves too, underrated riffs in my opinion. Redneck by Lamb of God, Unholy Confessions by A7X and Light Like to the Flies by Trivium are also some quality Drop D riffs.
It made me so happy to see Billy Talent on this list! Pretty much any riff by Ian could have made the cut, but Fallen Leaves is a nice one to sum it up. Honorable mentions are Ghost Ship of Cannibal Rats, Pins and Needles, and Tears Into Wine
Great choice! I was surprised to see Lamb of God here. I would include all Lamb of God songs as iconic drop D riffs (and not all of them are easy to learn though), but that depends on personal preferences.
It gives you a bit more chunk on the open "E" string (quotation marks because you just tuned it to D), and you can also play 'bar chords' with one finger.
Its never too late by three days grace is a pretty cool sounding and easy drop d riff. I hate everything about you is a pretty cool riff also in drop d I think.
Ratt , Lack of Communication . Ozzy Ultimate Sin. Fountains of Wayne , Stacy’s Mom. Jimmy Eat World , all songs drop d is the key of Jimmy. Foo Fighter, Everlong. Goo Goo Dolls, Flat Top. Helmet, Unsung. Filter, Nice Shot.
@@hotboyz2853 incorrect. I don’t know why you think it’s in d standard but it’s definitely not, me and every single other person has Learnt it in drop d, look up any tab
It was pretty underwhelming. You have Billy Talent and Wolfmother (which isn't even in drop D) but not Three days grave, papa roach, seether, halestorm, trivium or Avenged sevenfold? yikes

Helmet's Unsung didn't make this list this time, but I'm planning to make part 2 soon!
Man I can't even remember who introduced me to drop d at this point, pretty sure it was either SOAD, senses fail, or Lamb of God
Meantime and Unsung slapped bro
@@brandonweinmann5700 soad plays in drop C

Everlong, Black hole sun, heart shaped box and walk(pantera) are so iconic too
Heart shaped box is in Drop C#
Walk is in D standard actually
@@abg11158 a whole and a quarter step down to be precise
Black hole sun isn't drop D (although can be played in it)
@@Monkeypole it’s nuts how you can just say incorrect info as you are, and sound so sure lmao
Those are definitely some great Riffs, another really great Drop D Riff imo is the main riff of A7X Naturalborn Killer
Was expecting A7X to be here, Unholy confessions would've showed up fr
Great selection! Slither is awesome.
Props for including Sonne and Fallen Leaves too, underrated riffs in my opinion.
Redneck by Lamb of God, Unholy Confessions by A7X and Light Like to the Flies by Trivium are also some quality Drop D riffs.
Nice suggestions! It will be hard to decide which riffs I will pick for part 2...
@@KevinBalke Thanks. Part 2? Awesome!
It's good to hear Billy Talent get recognition! I still haven't met someone who has listened to them :..(
Ian D'sa is a huge influence on my playing. Dude's a riff god
I saw them live years ago in the Netherlands
Best sound quality from a live performance i've experienced so far!
It made me so happy to see Billy Talent on this list! Pretty much any riff by Ian could have made the cut, but Fallen Leaves is a nice one to sum it up. Honorable mentions are Ghost Ship of Cannibal Rats, Pins and Needles, and Tears Into Wine
Billy Talent never gets the love they deserve, so many great riffs.
The fact that Everlong was not on this list is a sin
🤮
@@Samsguitars28 Willem Dafoe, what are you doing here? Big fan btw.
well, if you don’t sin a little, Jesus died for nothing.

So outshined by Soundgarden I think is one of the best drop d tunes
I like Switch Opens the best.
Outshined is the first song I ever mastered.
You're the man for including Billy Talent
Helmet's Unsung probably started it all.
Those metrics on Lateralus though
The song is written to the Fibonacci sequence. Fun stuff.
The fact he murdered laid to rest in a good way at the end was epic
Man including linkin park hooked me on this channel
Great choice!
I was surprised to see Lamb of God here. I would include all Lamb of God songs as iconic drop D riffs (and not all of them are easy to learn though), but that depends on personal preferences.
Glad to see Billy Talent get some love!!!
Thank you. New to drop d but I always wondered why spoon man sounded so heavy
Yaaaas some Linkin Park !! My favorite band of all time
So drop D is the same as E standard but the E is a D? Imma try to to tune my guitar tonight
Exactly, the low/thick E string is tuned down to D.
Only the low E is tuned down to a D. The rest of the strings are the same. If you tune them all down a whole step it’s D standard.
It gives you a bit more chunk on the open "E" string (quotation marks because you just tuned it to D),
and you can also play 'bar chords' with one finger.
Welcome to your metal journey

Thank You! Got my work cut out for me..But I'm ready!!!🎸
Where I can find the drums lines alone? Thanks
Sorry, due to copyright reasons there is no way to get the drums/backing tracks anywhere yet.
@@KevinBalke where did you get them from then 🤔
I make them myself.
Its never too late by three days grace is a pretty cool sounding and easy drop d riff. I hate everything about you is a pretty cool riff also in drop d I think.
that's the Harley Benton cst blk cherry flame right, does yours not have a flamed top?
Great playing!
Wow well it's official I can play the damn guitar
Honestly drop D is probably the best tuning and the best way to play guitar
Your tone is sick
New subscriber thanks for the video.
Great video, but I’d say the only one here which I’d class as iconic is RATM
It's so hard to believe that Laid to Rest (and most of Lamb of Gods stuff) is in Drop D
What about March Of The SOD?
Kevin, wie lange spielst du schon ? Liebe drop d
No Melvins?
wonderful list, but i can’t ignore the lack of walk in it.
Walk is d standard and a quarter step down
GREAT LIST!! but i was a bit disappointed no seeing Kashmir
The claps in given up sound like balck balloon by the kills
basically if you learn all these songs youll learn all the basic ways & great techniques for playing in drop d
Ratt , Lack of Communication . Ozzy Ultimate Sin. Fountains of Wayne , Stacy’s Mom. Jimmy Eat World , all songs drop d is the key of Jimmy. Foo Fighter, Everlong. Goo Goo Dolls, Flat Top. Helmet, Unsung. Filter, Nice Shot.
YOOO TOOL LETS GOOOOO
Not the most iconic but still a good list
Surprised “Walk” by Pantera didn’t make the cut
Walk isn't Drop D, it's actually D standard, plus another quarter step down.
Do drop c# next
No freak from silverchair? One of the first i've heard.
The fact that Lateralus is on this list is not a sin
Tool definitely had the hardest song on the list.
Only reason I clicked on this video was to make sure a tool song was on here😂
Log 💀
The band that I loved in drop d is Pantera why nothing by them
Pantera used mostly D standard tuning dropped by a quarter, they almost never used Drop tunings.
@@minstrel9806 primal concrete sledge and a new level are two pretty famous pantera songs I can think of off the top of my head which are drop tuned

Friggin' Wolfmother but no Helmet?!?🧐
Kinda disappointed that I Hate Everything About You didn't make the cut but still great list
unholy confessions and last resort not on here? definitely not a top 10 list but i guess it is a list of 10
where is everelong? :(
I can’t believe you missed Devil Woman by Cliff Richard
Thank god there's no Everlong in list, it almost feels like a forbidden riff at this point, it's f-ing everywhere
Not putting Shine by Collective Soul is a federal offense!
Yo escuché por primera vez drop d en la canción de the beatles i want You
Since this has no Melvins I deem this list illegitimate.
I can't seem to figure out the squeal bend. I'm a drop Dummy
Even Flow
and Everlong???
I can only add Royal Blood - Out Of The Black
Final episode by Asking Alexandria
New Born by Muse
If you think these Linkin Park, Rammstein, Billy Talent, Wolfmother riffs are iconic, youre crazy. And I like Billy Talent
why is system of a down not on thist list
🧡
How was Sad but True not on here
Because it's on D standard tuning
Surprised Everlong isn't on here
I forgot Billy talent existed....thank you
im the 4000th like
too bad you can't play clean with out the fret wrap, cuz why use it if you could?
Where’re iconic riffs??? at least one!!!
falto misery bussines
The fact that any Pantera song was not on this list…
*Lamd of god, wow*
Now do the most ironic drop D riffs ever....
You're telling me that Pantera and Avenged Sevenfold WEREN'T on this list? 5 years in jail
Isn't Fat bottomed girls riff iconic enough to be in this list? :D
Kashmir
Where sad but true?!
Joker and the thief isn’t in drop d
You can’t make a drop D medley without avenged sevenfold. They are THE drop D band.
Qualquer seleção de riffs em drop D que não tenha NADA do System of a Down não merece respeito. 👎
не могу ритмически сыграть (правильно посчитать не получается) laid to rest
Man you missed everlong by foo fighters :(
I'm getting really tired of watching these Iconic Drop D riff videos and them never having a Deftones riff.
I like “nice shot” by filter.
No chop suey!?
Isn’t the entire Toxicity album in Drop C?
Unchained and over the mountain are iconic none of those are
Everlong
where is sad but true.
Sad but true is in D standart. Its not the same as drop D
Sad But True isn’t in Drop D, it’s in D standard.
10 "iconic"? Some of these acts many people would not even know. Then you threw in Stinking Park? Barf.
It was pretty underwhelming.
You have Billy Talent and Wolfmother (which isn't even in drop D) but not Three days grave, papa roach, seether, halestorm, trivium or Avenged sevenfold? yikes
Somehow, it doesnt surprise me that the only guitar a nu metal fan can buy is a Harley Benton.
Linkin Park? ICONIC RIFF??? Loooool….
Questionable selection
