I still credit System of a Down and Daron Malakian for inspiring me to write my own riffs in Drop C and Drop C#, the man is a freaking riff machine. And also speaking of riff machine, RIP Alexi, still gone from us way too early

This video gave me a ton of new stuff to work on! I started in Drop C because of Breaking Benjamin - So Cold
I was really hoping to see at least one Breaking Benjamin song in this video.
Isn't a lot of Breaking Benjamin songs in drop A or something like that, it's a weird turning most people would never have a guess they played
I think a good majority of their material after We Are Not Alone is in a very low tuning. We Are Not Alone was pretty much all drop C, I believe.
Most is in drop A#. Well, they call it Bb cuz it stands for Breaking Benjamin lol.
Diary of Jane album started doing drop A#. So Cold album started doing drop C. The first album was drop C#.

Kinda surprised to see "Davidian" by Machine Head didn't make this list, one of the most powerful, hard-hitting drop-C tuned songs and most iconic opening tracks in 90's metal.

For me it's gotta be the main riff from Meddler by August burns red. Fucking incredible feeling when you nail that song.

Thank god somebody included a Three Days Grace riff, they wrote some rather awesome Drop C stuff.
Same with BFMV. Suffocating is the best song on that album, along with The Poison

Great work! This collection was basically my middle school practice routine, 2000s was a great time to learn guitar as a teen into metal!
It’s strange the intro riff to My Curse is featured but not the bone crushing verse riff. One my my personal favorites. Love the whole song though.
I think drop c sounds better than 7 strings

Honestly there's so many iconic Drop C songs, it's difficult to just choose 10 of them
TBH what swicthed me to Drop C tuning was Bullet for my Valentine when I was about 18. I had not long started experimenting with Drop D then Bullet just hit me like a truck. Crushing rhythms, sweeping solo's and it just went together so well. I didn't discover Bodom until I was well into my 20's in sort of 2008-2010 so I am quite a late comer to the Smashing metal core party, and yes Bodom mainly played in Drop C
Dude, how you gonna include My Curse then cut the video short right before that epic, beefy, open C riff. That riff is so much fun to play and shows off everything heavy and awesome about drop C

Nirvana loved to tune everything down a half step, so some songs "accidentally" ended up in drop C# but are considered drop D. I'm pretty sure with Blew, the band didn't realize they were tuned down an entire step before recording, so the song ended up in true drop C. Precise tuning wasn't really important to them, obviously.
Freya by The Sword is also a very iconic one, would of fit right there next to Oblivion.

@@thedancingguy828Most people play Walk in D standard, but its still off as Dime didn't use normal hertz which is why it doesn't sound right in D at all.
Instead of A=440 it was like "tuned down 60 cents, or 425 H"

Why gauge of strings are you using? Does the SG hold the tuning well, being a 24.75 scale?
I got 12 - 52 strings on there and I don't have any tuning issues with the SG. Holds tuning for a long time.

@@flucazade lube the nut with graphite and wound the strings upwards - any Gibson will hold tune perfectly. I can spend an evening practicing songs with lots of bends on G string and it'll never get out of tune

do you want millions of views? and subs? let me tell you what we want. 100's or do by 20 lol riffs of 80's rock songs from Motley to kiss and all in between you know them all. play just the main parts and put the freaken tabs on screen so we can actual learn chords etc... in a song that we know in a context that's way more fun. that way we learn and it's fast and easy. instead of a bunch of guitar theory and put your finger here and put that finguer there, this is in a/b sharp 13 add44 sus79 and 6th notes and a half inteval and a quater going to the what the heck ever omg THAT would be best. there are not enough youtubers doing that on youtube.

It's questionable why someone would choose Are You Dead Yet when COB also has Sixpounder's main theme, or the verse riff of Banned From Heaven. But that's just an opinion.
