- Welcome to another challenge video hope your ready as this one took a couple of unexpected turns but were here so let's see what we can do about being the sole survivor and going on another journey in fallout 4 :D

I mean, since Nate used to be in the military, you'd expect him to have decent strength and agility.
true but we only needed the armourer perk from the strength tree fallout 4 is strange like that

The one thing I hate is if you get into Kelloggs' house early, The button for the secret room isn't there somehow, Despite Kellogg having left. Like it's a completely immersion breaking way of not letting you progress because the game doesn't want you to yet. Like the button can't just magically appear on the right quest, In reality the button would always be there!
did not know this thats a real kick in the gonads
Fallout fans basically live for immersion i swear, I hate little things like this also.
@@InsaneFrame Yeah I got master lockpick ability early and got in there before the quest, And no button under Kelloggs' desk
It doesn't even make sense either, like so what if you get in there early, without the information from Valentine saying that Kellogg could be involved with Shaun's kidnapping, to you it'd just be a room right? The cigar's and beer don't mean anything without Nick's input on them and getting dogmeat to follow the trail off of them, you could just stumble into the room and loot it and just have to come back later with Nick to progress the story when you get there. The only thing they'd need to do is the Cigar Box on the table, rather than letting you take it, just make it an "inspect" item that you just look at and cant pick up at the time and then make it so you can pick it up during the quest, or just make it an un-droppable quest item so that you still have it when you need it for the quest, really strange behaviour from the devs to remove the room completely until the quest is active because it's just so unnecessary
@@StalkingYouMate But if you took the cigar and used it for crafting you wouldn't have anything for dogmeat to smell, however they should off just made a key item for dogmeat to get the scent.
This is too perfect and im still patiently waiting on New Vegas while crippled and overencumbered

Ive got a video idea. "Can you beat fallout 4 as a patriot" or something like that. You can only use the revolutionary sword and the laser musket as well as only being able to use colonial style armour/clothes. The main play for this would be to get the armour from the dead general at the minuteman fort.
you know what I'm just about to start the run with revolutionary sword run so out of respect for you we'll build the character from what you describe if that's play

yeah that was one thing wish I did do in the run would of helped a fair amount
if you refuse to take a code name in the railroad, des will refer to you as agent "wanderer"
yep can confirm she'll deny you but if you persist she gives up and says wanderer referencing the main character from fallout 3

I will say the gear for this is pretty solid (at least for the weapons). If you were to ignore the keep them as close to the image rule you had, and just made them as powerful as possible you could easily build up a strong long range silenced sniper rifle, a decent mid ranged hunting rifle, and a deadly close range 10mm. Either going gunslinger or commando for the 10mm and obviously rifleman for the rifles. Add sandman and silencers to each weapon for more damage, and like you did in this run going a stealth crit happy build would work really well. Best perks would be stealth, ninja, sandman, crit banker, better critical, and maybe sniper and penetrator if you want to invest in super high perception. That all said this would really drag out your run since stealth builds are far slower than any other at progressing through areas even if they are the most deadly.
Really the only problem would be the armor since I believe you can’t ballistic weave the vault suits, and though it gets a fair bit of defense fully upgraded, it’s no where near enough to make up for it. The leather armor doesn’t help that much either, but on the bright side is there are a lot of legendary leather pieces out in the wild since it stays in the loot table for most of a person’s run.
Hell if you added the laser musket then you’d be even more set since at that point you have the very powerful laser musket which would be golden as your mid ranged weapon, and it would give you more coverage since you’d have energy damage now. Seriously the laser musket despite being a super early game weapon can fully function all the way into endgame as a solid weapon.
its mostly I wanted to keep the equipment grounded to add to the difficulty and keep to the sole survivors character but depending on the sources you use you can make the challenge easier or harder
@@InsaneFrame honestly a run that’s just the laser musket would be very interesting (say literally doing a minute man run) since it’s powerful, but it won’t solve everything, and it chews through ammo. Also since you’d probably want to do the minute men ending you’d have to deflate a miurlerk green which I don’t really know how’d you do that. At least you’d get to wear that awesome minute men general outfit.
I love how over powered ballistic weave is in fallout 4 because you can use under clothes with it and the news boy cap has full ballistic rating only thing I don't like is that the BOS uniform and the vault suit can't be weaved
@@Redeemed2163 yeah, ballistic weave is borderline overpowered if used correctly, but the fact that some of the more interesting under armors (like bos and vault suit) can’t be weaved is really annoying. Especially the vault suit which has its own upgrade tree that is practically useless in comparison.
I actually did this before and it was really fun, I like "cosplay builds" in games like dark souls where you play as an in-game character. They're usually a really fun experience depending on who you pick
couldn't agree more if you do attempt this probably ally with the brotherhood of steel it makes it much easier :D
Does anyone want more of these “can you beat as main character.” Like beating new Vegas as the courier or f3 as the lone wanderer etc.

sole survivor isn't really a jack of all trades as he has a military background. So specifically he would have higher than normal strength and agility at the very least. Nora was a lawyer so she would have more intelligence and/or charisma if you want with their character "as intended. A neat concept however.
never thought of characters roles like that before thats intresting as heck :)

@@thebakedtoast most soldiers don't attend college before enlistment because there's no reason to, and intelligence in fallout 4 is how fast you learn (IQ), which is notably higher in lawyers as opposed to most other jobs. nora's IQ would be higher than nate's, even though they're both very smart people.
@@hippo440total conjecture. I know a lot of military men with IQ's well above 100 and a lot of lawyers seem to be total reerees. Of course women get married for the D they like the best, so intelligence in that decision is useless. Lol
using scopes on the rifle is canon since there is a statue of it which has a Hunting Rifle with a scope on it and also there is an art with nate and a power armor inside of Red Rocket also since Nate was in the army it means he used Combat Armor too (the part with Combat Armor can be excluded when playing as Nora)

He forgot that by doing some side quests with the railroad he can get ballistic weave
Yeah but you need mods to even add the Ballistic Weave modification for the Vault suit
I have an idea for a character based Skyrim Run, Emperor Palpatine, rules are you can only use Lighting based Destruction spells, the preferred outfit would be hooded black robes

On of my favorite things about robots, is while they are almost unfairly difficult, you can destroy the different parts making them easier to kill.

Glory's death is the dumbest thing in FO4. Stimpacks work on synths, we know from running with Danse. She's still able to speak, and stimpacks work even on the most brutal wounds as long as it isn't an instakill. Marcy ficking Long is invincible, but Glory the badass dies to some bro-hood soldiers? Bullshiiiiiit
I think I found another challenge for you.
Can you beat Fallout 4 as Veronica?
You can only use a power fist, 10mm pistol, any energy weapon or in the of my playthrough of fnv a plasma pistol.
You can only wear hooded rags. You can wear power armor but the best is T-51b for lore purposes because Veronica is from the west coast.
You must side with the Brotherhood of Steel because it's Veronica and Veronica is a Brotherhood scribe.
Normal difficulty
Unarmed/melee build
If in power armor and can't equip power fist you can punch enemies using only the armor.
we'll probably do a powerfist run in the future and yeah we could use nora rename her veronica and go for it :)
If you didn't want to run all the way to Diamond City there is I am fairly certain a raider that always spawns with a hunting rifle and another Tales of a Junktown Jerky Vendor under the gift shop at Walden's Pond, accessible via a drain pipe!
that is really useful to know thankyou it also gives a legendary wrench as well
@@InsaneFrame There is also another junktown jerky vendor in the Super Duper Mart in Lexington that's really easy to just sneak to without waking up the ghouls, grabbing that one, the one in Walden's, and the one at Mystic Pines are part of my essential early game steps for any character

The trailers/art? The default male nord with studded armor, iron boots and gauntlets and only using a steel sword and dagger?

I have done it, do the companion quest for the better steel sword, and stay LV 1 while doing dawngaurd as vampire for the vampire health ring which gives you+100 health
I always play as the sole survivor, on survival mode, typically I do zero death playthroughs, kill kallogue, become fully accepted into every faction, fully explore the map, find all the magazine's, get all the bobbleheads, get all the companions to max affinity, do all the side quests, decently develop every settlement to 19+ settlers max happiness, complete nuka world, complete far harbour, defeat the mechanist reach about level 110, get bored and stop playing before I blow up, or side with, the institute.
TLDR: no I can not.
but can you do it using only dogmeat?

Probably should have done straight 4s with a slight increase in physical attributes. He is a soldier, but he was also asked to speak in front of the post.
I like how it isnt much of a challenge as those two weopens have some of the highest damage output in the game fully upgraded.

There's a unique revolutionary sword that you can get from the Nuka-World dlc
Love the video. Made me chuckle a few times for sure. But...Just curious why you used that image to base Nate on when in the bio it says...
In the intro, the specific combat armor pieces he and his platoon wore were the sturdy legs, heavy arms, the standard chest piece, and a combat helmet.
The weapon Nate used in the intro is a scoped laser rifle with a beam splitter modification.
So, Nate knows how to use a lazer rifle (if he finds one) and combat armour. Wouldn't that have been more lore friendly? Either way, love the vid. 😎
it's mainly just because it's the most iconic really but your right, there's alot of ways it could've been taken but the idea was to go back to basics and see if we could do it! :)

I don't want to come out as demanding but a average Joe build would be cool for any fallout . The rules are special stats set at 4 and never increase. You could add other handicaps depending on the game.

For your next challenge you should do can you beat fallout 4 as a raider so long johns sack hood pipe pistol and double barrel and maybe a melee weapon

I’m going to attempt this challenge, but slightly differently. I watched all the trailers and can definitely use everything you mentioned + dogmeat, T45 power armour and the hazmat suit. I might let myself use some more weapons shown in the trailers but gameplay feels less like ‘canon’

to use the "Lone Wanderer" perk, you need to have no companions, right?
kinda right, dogmeat doesn't count as a companion to the game, so you can use the perk with dogmeat, so i see no reason that you can't use dogmeat
Yeah that's actually the whole reason I debated about using dogmeat he doesn't count as a companion but it does make the run easier so thought I'd do without but the perk dies indeed count so you can use dogmeat with it

Sole survivor doesn’t mean he has to survive on his own
It means he/she was the only survivor of the vault
I feel like a sole survivor Nora run would be easy because she was a lawyer pre war and would have to have good charisma and luck.
And Intelligence
I would've allowed full combat armor and laser rifle because Nick was in the army
When I saw the video name I thought the challenge was fucking stupid. I thought it was like saying "can you beat skyrim as the dragenborn" but then I clicked on the video and saw what the challenge ment so good challenge

The sole survivor would for sure get the armor and minigun if he was told to I think. Just for that bit of the mission, leading them to sanctuary in the armor, then placing it in the armor station, then onto the rifle n pistol forever

If you got the ballistic weave armor mod for your vault suit it would’ve helped loads. You can get it doing some railroad quests
Vault Suits cannot get ballistic weave in Fallout 4 withour the use of mods

Very nice one. I've done this challenge before, but not on Very Hard. The Hunting Rifle is pretty decent early on but is really ineffective toward the end of the game. I ended up using the 10mm far more often, especially once I got spec'd for Criticals.
How about Fallout: New Vegas with only crafted items? Meaning, you have to craft everything: weapons, armor, ammo, healing items, everything. It's not the most exciting on paper but I think it could make a for a really interesting run, and there's a lot of craftable stuff in NV that just doesn't see use, like Hand Load rounds and most of the crafted explosives. Either way, happy holidays! Looking forward to what you do next.
What kind of weapons though? (Not like explosives)
@@Toast64987 There are a handful of craftable melee weapons, but they require you to visit the DLCs mostly (except the Dog Tag Fist, notably). The only crafted firearm I'm aware of is FIDO, the upgraded K9000 from Old World Blues, but I want to say the full list of craftable weapons is:
Dog Tag Fist (base game)
Fist of Rawr (Lonesome Road)
FIDO (Old World Blues)
Cosmic Knife variants (Dead Money)
Knife Spear variants (Dead Money)
Everything else is explosives, as weapons are concerned.

So the thing about being the Soul Survivor play through is, imo, you prob should be using a laser rifle and power armor, as that is what you see in the intro cutscene no?

You could of done all of the situational things the lone wonderer would of done. It’s a one time thing for story reasons.

I feel it would have been cool to keep Dog meat because he is in the original trailer. The reasoning was due to Nate being the sole survivor which I believe refers to him surviving Vault 111. So why would he need to be solo once he is out in the wasteland?
Not only that you also completed can you beat fallout 4 as the white death world of war 2 sniper that is famous for sniping a bunch of people without any Scopes he used iron sights
