      I thought about referencing MGS4, but just stuck with Yakuza as that seemed more appropriate/Sega related.

    Great video and the Capture quality is good to keep up the good work mate

    The scan lines look fine to me. They're hard to see on my phone, which is how I watch, but they also don't cause any distracting patterns at lower resolutions, so it's all good.

    I love this game. It was one of my favorites back in the day and still is.

      You're better than me. Maybe one of these days I'll take another crack at it with an Everdrive or something with savestates.

    TH-cam recommended your video so I checked it out. That was a lengthy intro. Lol. I love Goofy and have never heard of this game. This game looks pretty bad and difficult. I’m glad I didn’t rent it back in the day. Nice honest review video, good job! I noticed you only review Sega have you reviewed Shining Force yet?

    • @ZilogandMoto
      @ZilogandMoto  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you! I haven't gotten to Shining Force yet. Need to do Shining in the Darkness first. They're both definitely on the list, but I'm currently working my way through Phantasy Star II in the background while I do the game of the week. Might start that series when I'm done, as I've never played any of them.

    Im playing through this game this week and its really fun 😁 and a challenge i had trouble at first swinging to the next block with the extendo hand but i have it down now it took practice

    • @ZilogandMoto
      @ZilogandMoto  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I didn't mind the idea of the extendo hand, but when you started having to do blind jumps, things just got annoying.

    I'm not sure about the quality of the footage here if I'm honest, there's some strange banding / artefacting (not the scanlines) that isn't happening with any of your older footage. It almost seems like a cabling issue, but I'm assuming aside the new capture card you're using the same cables? It's very visible in the darker areas of the screen, but even outside of that brighter objects seem to darken everything after them to the right. If you can't see it, turn your screen brightness up a little (as I'll admit the screen I'm watching this on is quite bright, and a lot of darker shades are visible)
    I've seen other RT4k footage on other channels and haven't noticed this, and while it is a problem some TVs had back in the day I'm not sure it's something that is being intentionally reproduced here?
    As for the game, I'm actually surprised by the difficulty, I thought this was one of those I played through without an issue, and felt had nothing to offer (like Mickey's Ultimate Challenge) but now I'm starting to wonder if I played it beyond the first 5 minutes at all. It's also interesting to see that Home Improvements advert, because a significant part of the gameplay there is also a 'Bionic Commando' style grappling hook.

    • @ZilogandMoto
      @ZilogandMoto  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So, what you're seeing there is HDR being enabled on the RT4K, which kicks up the brightness, and that's where the banding comes from. If I have HDR turned off, the picture is darker, and those bands aren't visible. I can do scanlines without HDR, but it might be too dark that way. I'll play with it this week.

      @@ZilogandMoto ahh, that makes sense. Maybe the footage is just a bit too bright right now, at least relative to other footage. Some experimentation is probably still needed as you say.

    Good video. I wonder if there are any ROM hacks to make this a better game. Maybe something to tone down the boss difficulty and someway to scroll the camera left and right so there are no blind jumps.

    • @ZilogandMoto
      @ZilogandMoto  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Would be interesting. I'd definitely be inclined to try to play it again at some point with save states, but as is, it's just way too frustrating.

    Lovely vid. Not sure what the enemies with the yellow hats were meant to be... toadstools? Or stereotypical Chinese men? And they're not very pre-historic!

    • @ZilogandMoto
      @ZilogandMoto  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I believe they're supposed to be mushrooms or toadstools, yeah.

    Never played this. Interesting to see.
    I have to say that I don't think the digital scanlines look nice. I really do like crt tvs however.

    • @ZilogandMoto
      @ZilogandMoto  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I can understand that. I'm sticking with them for now, but it's possible I'll switch back in the future.

    How dare you speak bad of CRT TVs??
    Just kidding :p
    I do still use CRTs for some retro consoles, because all my new modern TVs exhibit ghosting effects that I hate (these effects are more visible on older games with more blocky looks, newer 3D games I don't see nothing wrong). Don't know if more modern flat screen TVs have this problem solved or not. I always buy the cheapest TVs, so maybe that's the reason my flat TVs are crap. I don't care much about scanlines, that's not the reason why I use CRTs.
    When the time comes where I don't need to use CRTs anymore, I'll save them anyway for nostalgia (I have the space needed in my house).

    • @ZilogandMoto
      @ZilogandMoto  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah, I definitely don't have the space for a decent sized CRT, and I'm sorry, but I'm not going to play games on some 9" security monitor like some people seem to enjoy for some reason that escapes me. I wouldn't mind having one JUST for the purpose of light gun or the Master System 3D games, but that's not exactly a priority right now.

    • @drPeidos
      @drPeidos 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@ZilogandMoto I also don't get those people that play on small CRTs. I can only imagine it can be for nostalgia, because when they were kids their TV was also that small. But those people that use PVMs or BVMs because they have bigger resolution I don't get it, because the screen is also smaller so I don't think their eyes can see a lot of difference.
