Never underestimate the ingenuity of folks. I'm thoroughly impressed that you sir where able to accomplish this task with only basic hand tools. And it looks great. Happy camping and happy motoring to you.
Great job. Doing a truck camper job myself right now. Fortunately I have full size truck with 8 ft bed. A very organized project man, again great job! If you are ever up in the U.S. let me show you our gorgeous east coast
Hello Philippe, congratulations. We did a similar project on a Ranger 4x4 2011. I designed the Camper with all dimensions, and the empty shell was laminated by a company accoriding to my instructions. The interior with thermal insulation, solar energy, water, bed, cabinets, etc. was all done by ourselves. It has a very simple layout and the additional weight is around 300 kg, so extremely light (an expedition vehicle is not a classical motorhome!). We have been around Argentina several times with our Camper: a nice country and wonderful people! Buenas aventuras y un abrazo desde Brasil. Ulrich & Fátima
Thanks Ulrich for your comment. It sounds like we went along a similar path. I estimate mine to weigh about 450 kg now with all the additional equipment like recovery boards, extra diesel fuel, etc. It isn't so much that it affects the truck performance much.
I like the design of a bench along each side. I have a nissan frontier which i built a shell on and put a swing up and down sleeping platform. I may remake it with your design. Very elegant.
Thank you for making this video. It explained a few questions I had. I can't believe how good your English is! I wish my Spanish was half as good as your English. I still think that you could make a slide out kitchen. You could also make an awning that slides into a track on the back of the shell. That way you can completely remove the awing to maintain your discrete look.
Very nice video, and setup. I really like your idea of using free modeling/design software to plan out your system. I see you made this video in 2019. I am an engineer (so reasonably smart), but have no experience with any particular modeling/design software. In addition to "sweet home 3d", is there any other software that you recommend I look at before selecting a modeling/design package and start doing something similar myself (for the truck cap camper I will soon design and build)?
Hello and thank you for your comment. I haven't really tried any other software so can't recommend any. Sweet Home 3D did the job for me but if I had to do it again I would investigate other ones. I can't remember the name from the top of my head but there is now one that is made specifically for camper vans. Cheers,
Thanks for your content. I just purchased a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan. I am hoping to get my hands on some design files (ideally I can open in TinkerCAD format .stl, .obj or .svg, or any drawings/diagrams/measurements of bed/cabinet/kitchen alternate setups etc) that I can take inspiration from modify to my personal liking to get the best result possible. I thought I might ask if you would be so kind as to forward any design files that you have that may help me, also if you are aware currently of any useful/necessary items for vanlife selling at a really good price/value I would very much appreciate any help/advice you can provide. Thanks and safe travels!
Congrats! This is minimalism philosophy placed to work with enormous success! Did you ever considered opening a passageway between the house and the truck’s cabin?
Hello and thank you for your comment. Due to the small size of the truck and camper shell a passageway would be impractical. Nice to have though in a larger vehicle.
I did not find a u.s. manufacturer who offers vertical walls. Are and leer slant to much. Many years ago i found a florida company who built aluminum framed and aluminum skunned shells. I made a camper very similar ti this one for an 8 foot bed f150. A manufacturer in Michigan and California still offer such products but i can't recall their names.

Thank you very much!
I like the height of this design, just right for camping. Not too tall and not too low. Good job.
Glad you like it! Thanks for your comment.
great video. Smart thinking throughout!

Thank you! I'm glad to have been of inspiration.
I love your ideas, really utilizes the small space. Could you show where you got your truck topper and approx costs?
Hello. The topper is a commercial model, Total Cargo line, made here in Argentina by Tronador.com.ar
I love your camper but I’m thinking about doing something like that with the kitchen over the cab.
It's a good idea if the space is available. Cheers.

The best way to get inspiration for, and even design your van interior is vanspace3d.co It didn't exist when I did mine but I would give it a try.

where can you find that brand of camper shell?
ARE and LEER sells them.look up the website

Sin Rumbo, is it a 8' or 6' bed?
It is 2.50 m or 7 1/2 feet.
@@sinrumbo1 Thank you! Here in US they only make 6 ft bed for Ranger. F-150 with 8' bed is more like it for the build
HELP! Where can we find that brand of camper shell?
As far as I now it is only available here in Argentina but do check their website: www.tronador.com.ar
4WD or 4x4 truck?
Since it has a low range gearbox the correct word is 4x4 truck, I think.
