Don't give people like that the time of day mate, the building industry is full of people who bully others verbally and mentally with no regard for others well-being. Your content, editing, knowledge and the way you hold and conduct yourself is far superior to a lot of other trades I have come across. Keep doing what your doing buddy and ignore those that ruin it with negativity.

Can't see why gluing the stuffing gland would be a bad idea anyway, seems to work just fine - have resorted to that myself both in absence of and in addition to a nut on the inside of the box, but the difference is that I've never seen a round junction box in a modern application.
Your solution to an "industrial domestic installation" ( in lack of a better term ) actually looks very nice.
The biggest difference is regarding the fuse board and the internal setup of that, where we're required to have an isolator wich cuts both live and neutral as a main switch inside the board with a fuse in the box with the meter in it, and 30mA RDC's that cut both live and neutral for each circuit.
Always fun to watch your videos, gives me a reason to think twice about my own work!

  • @laurencehucker6912

in regards to the stuffer out of a conduit box, you can run a ring of electrical tape around the threads (similar to how you would apply PTFE tape) and then push the excess into the back of the stuffer. makes an extremely tight fit onto the conduit box

  • @jamesdyas542
    @jamesdyas542 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

To get a stuffing gland into a pvc conduit box I’ve allways either drilled a 20 mm hole in the lid and used the lock nut or used a bush adapter and a short bit of pipe and not used the bush. The way you do it seems better though. Might do that next time.

In Australia we use plain to screwed adaptors to join conduit boxes to bullet glands(stuffing glands as you call them) they are available in various sizes including reducers (ie 16 to 20mm).Also it is a requirement in Australian wiring rules to seal all holes in switchboards to prevent the spread of fire with a fire rated sealant or similar. I’ve never seen you seal your switchboards. Is it not a requirement in England/ Europe? Keep up the good work. Love the channel👍. Cheers jim

As an Aussie signal maintainer for a railway the answer is with lots of bug spray and the occasional loud high pitched screen. One of our technicians is shit scared of spiders and manages okay. You just don't stand behind him if he's opening cabinets etc.
My favourite thing is opening pits seeing a few spiders then when you spray it seeing all the other spiders filling the pit start to twitch and die

With those lights I think are PG11, I used PG11 to M20 convertor. I then use copex and could screw the adapter straight into the light fitting, they also slide on the fixings so you can move them to create room to connect cables.
The thing I dont like about those lights is they have a pass through for live and neutral with no CPC so I would only use it as single entry.
Alternatively as others have said you can use a short bit of conduit with a female adapter but to be fair you would still need to weld in the small bit of conduit with solvent so you may as well do what you do which I never thought of doing and just put it straight into a box.

Didn't think those glands could be solvent welded (they are nylon I think?). If it does stick its the box that's melted onto the gland, they don't fully melt together like they should. I've used superglue on them before.

The metal fireproof saddles are supposed to be for plastic pipe im guessing like the ones you put in conduit, so if it sets on fire or heats it up, it wont melt the plasic clips, the metal ones will try to keep it in place.

Interesting to see how you approach it, I had to get it re-done as the first spark did such a shit job (garage door hit the led battens when you opened it, bits of conduit cut too short so they didn't fit the couplers). Opinion on wago I would love to use them all the time but I think my boss would have a fit with regards to pricing. But I feel we should move on do away with fluorescent for led and wago for connector block.

Don’t worry about Fargo mate. He’s probably a failed electrician or a plumber! Actually I think A plumber is a failed electrician! 🤣

There are glands available without thread, they're smooth and designed to be glued. Rare as hens teeth though!

It’s a bit long but I put a short piece of conduit in to the box, put a female adapter onto that and the stuffing gland screws in to that.
But I wish there was a stuffing gland that pushed straight into the conduit box.

Not sure if this was answered but I'm in Australia. 1st year sparky and done landscaping before that, spiders aren't to bad. Just flick them off. When there's lots you just get used to it. Possum and rat carcasses gross me out.

Im not even a spark, or interested in becoming one. I just enjoy watching your videos. Gemini guy is clearly just a bitter guy full of bile.

Costs a bit, but you could use wiska boxes so you can thread the adaptor in. The new 206's are good for straight-through joints like you have leading up to the lights.
Alternatively couldn't you put a conduit adaptor on the end of the light and avoid having the joint entirely?

Add a small piece of pipe to the box and then a bush coupler and screw the gland into the coupler
