    Cool project and nice to know you don't need an expensive jig to curve the panel

  • @HalfAssHomestead

    You should use Rapid Tac which will wet the surface, so you can move the vinyl if needed, and makes it super easy to remove any air bubbles. It dries super quick.

    Honestly, if you want a see through finish, you don't need to do all that, you can directly sublimate the acrylic with just the ink and sublimation paper, been doing it for years now. and they work really well.

    Since you did these on transparent oracle 651 could you do this on white if you wanted to keep that from being translucent? Have you ever tried heat pressing these around a mug in a mug press? So that you could press the image and get the curve at the same time?

    • @DesignBundles

      Hey Nancy! I have not tried these with white vinyl, mainly because I like the vinyl to be on the back, so sublimating the design on white would mean the vinyl would be on the front. BUT, I have sublimated on White HTV on a glass panel (it was a lantern) and had fabulous results, so that may be a good experiment to try. Hope this helps! ---Becky

    After you sublimate, and remove the backing with water etc. would applying a white vinyl cut down to size applying on the back, give it a opaque and finished look? Or could you spray paint the area to give the finished look on the back? Your thoughts would be appreciated.

      The adhesive vinyl could possibly melt. Sublimation requires a higher temperature than adhesive vinyl.

    I also was wondering if I put the two panels together to make it more opaque and white, wold you print on just one panel or both panels and line them up and put them together with the printed sides facing each other, and then just use them as a single photo with a stand of some sort, instead of putting the panels back into the lantern....I'm new at the sublimation but have been doing vinyl shirts and decals for a few years as well as some photography which I would love to sublimate onto glass but funds are low and I'm trying to avoid buying the coated glass frames etc...and my mind is swirling with ideas I just want to know if certain things will work or not because I cant find any information anywhere specifically about the things I want to try and do....Thanks

    This has nothing to do with sublimating on acrylic but this is as close to what Ive been trying to find some kind of answer as far as sublimating a photograph transparently. I recently bought a couple lanterns that has white frosted glass panels, If I put clear laminate on back side of the panels and sublimate a photograph will it show through to the front side of the white frosted glass and not look too transparent because of the white glass panels? and if so which side of the glass panels does the laminate and print go on, there is a textured side and smooth side, would the transparent 651 be better the laminate?

    • @DesignBundles
      @DesignBundles  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Shane! So I think I understand what you're trying to do. I don't think sublimating on the back of the panel will give you good results since they are frosted. Have you considered a clear sticker paper? I have some and it works great, and then you could apply it directly to the front side of your lantern, and it would look great because the frosting would help your colors look more vibrant too. This isn't specific to sublimation, it's usually just printed on an inkjet printer. Waterslide decal paper would also work. I haven't had good success with the laminate on glass, it's like the adhesive layer just bubbles since it has no where to go. Hope this helps! ---Becky

Say t is a wreath when you look at it from the front it looks opaque. Her signature is at the bottom. When you turn the piece around you see the same image in reverse because her name is in reverse. • @DesignBundles

      Hey Dana, I haven't tried that yet but it sounds possible! I don't know how that coating will look on the acrylic. If you decide to try it before I do, let me know what you think! ---Becky

    why print standard and not high quality?

    • @DesignBundles
      @DesignBundles  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey Marypau, the high quality was putting out more ink than I needed, causing waste. I used to print high quality, but once I switched to standard and my prints were just as vibrant, I made the switch for all my projects to save on the extra ink. Hope this helps! ---Becky
