I’m glad this guy exists so he can show the ugly truth with Asian parents in a humorous way. This actually takes some of the pain away. I know not all Asian parents are like this, but I would say the vast majority are.
I gave up a good job in a great location to take care of my sick parents. But they remind me now and then of how much I’m a failure for doing so.
Not just Asian parents are so cruel... yet, these videos are therapeutic.

Hey I just want to say to the OP and anyone else who reads this and has parents who are disappointed in you no matter what: EFF THAT. That's effed up. I just want to validate you for that. They're your parents, but that doesn't make it right for them to treat you like that when you've done your best in this shitty world. I mean that sincerely, whether or not you feel yourself that you've achieved measurable success. Being a person is just *hard* sometimes, even without the expectations of others weighing you down. I'm sure you know that it ain't right, whatever they say or do so that you can never win, so what I really wanted to add was: if you are down on yourself for letting your parents get to you sometimes, even when you know better, don't be. Feelings are always complicated, especially when it comes to family. I'm sorry you're not valued just for yourself as a person, instead of your paycheck, resume, or life choices. You don't deserve that, and I hope you have other people in your life who DO value you just for being you.

Nearly every actor gets the "don't be an actor" speech, at least once in their lives. Most who didn't listen, barely make a living. It's really hard to make a living as an actor because even though the pay is good, the amount of work you get is minimal. You might get 2-3 commercials a year. If they are national and run for a while, that's maybe 10k a year, maybe 15. That's great for a few gigs, comprising only a few days work, but it is not enough to live off of.

To be fair, being a Hollywood actor is incredibly hard. 98% of people fail and it's not because they aren't good. But there are definitely things you can do with acting to make it that don't require becoming a movie star. Such as this :D
And also theater, small indie films, whatever you find enjoyable. You can also work part time to make enough if it's a craft you love. :) TH-cam has left a huge avenue for anyone to practice and hone their acting chops with out the risks of having to move to LA and pray for luck. Still need luck from the algorithm, but other than that, it's a much better shot.
