On Czech territory, the main part ended with the capitulation of the Hussite camp before the Czech king Jiří of Poděbrady, but it continued with the fraternal movement in Slovakia in the years 1445 - 1467. The core of the fraternal troops consisted of members of Hussite troops and Hussite garrisons in Slovakia. The Fraternal Hussite movement ended with the defeat of the Fraternals in the Battle of Blatné Potok in 1467.

5 crusades kicked in ass. Last battle by Domažlice was great, crusaders runned in fear when we started with our warsong.. it begins with a question: who are the gods warriors? Holy grail will raise again!
Jan Žižka was something like a medieval Napoleon, except that he did not experience a single defeat.. several crusades were undertaken against the Hussites and nothing, they even conquered the whole of Bohemia, their strategies were interesting and revolutionary, only the Hussites could defeat the Hussites and end the disgrace for the great empires, for this civil war a solid What If
Wow, nice video, it's shown to me some very interesting informations. As I am from Czech republic and my ancestors were mainly Bohemian and Slovak nationality. I am sometimes proud of what were happening in Czech kingdom in 15th century. In that time nobles, people from universities and common people were fighting behind the same ideal of more equality(it's my interpretation of main cause for Hussite wars). Hussites had very unique type of army with very specific tactics and strategy. From this period probably also comes origin of name for small firearm (handgun), pistol. Hussites used smaller version of hand cannon that was named píšťala. It was probably first case use of massive usage of hand cannons in history and with great success.
Yes, he was burned at stake for heresy because his ideals (inspired by John Wycliffe) opposed the almighty catholic Church. That is why the rebels called themselves "Hussites"... It was in honor of their spiritual leader. Hussite wars were the first sign/evidence of deeply rooted schism and hatred towards corrupted church that much later resulted in Reformation movement and Protestant wars (30 Years War).
Jan Zizka was a badass 15th century Czech knight who led the first real Protestant uprising in Europe by building gigantic fucking war tanks and using these homemade custom iron-plated juggernauts to crush the balls of anyone who opposed him with extreme prejudice all the way up their asses. In his fifteen years relentlessly smiting bitches apart and flattening the skulls of his enemies by swinging an oversized steel mace that was presumably modeled after his oversized steel testicles, Zizka never suffered a defeat on the battlefield - an accomplishment made duly impressive when you consider the fact that he was commanding a semi-unruly horde of untrained peasants and religious fanatics against battle-hardened men-at-arms from some of the world's most dominant military powers. Oh, and he did it all with one eye. Except for when that got too easy, and he did it while being completely fucking blind in both eyes.
And this giga chad then asked his soldiers to make a drum out of his skin after his death so he could still lead them into battle Also some fights did not happen beacuse the enemies of hussites were litterally too scared of them and fled the battle so some fights which were 99% supposed to happen didn't happen beacuse the got so fucking scared of them Jan Žižka was such a unit, i believe he is one of the greatest generals in history and almost the Best european general to ever live maybe he even was the best general in europe ever
why is that ? I dont think czechs dont like hungarians, well we dont love you as polish people do, but we like you as our ally. I know that slovaks doesnt like u thats all. On the other hand we love slovaks :)
Well, firstly Hungarians invaded central Europe and destroyed the Great Moravia and took some of the land. That's the begging of what Slovaks feel as suppression. ..., Sigismund, Matthias Corvinus, ... :D And then we had rather bad relationship in 19th century, because Hungary was blocking any attempts of Czech-Austrian(German) equalisation and promoted German-Hungarian supremacy in the monarchy. And then Czechoslovakia of course... It all doesn't matter now. Although I'm worried about the influence Hungarian politics have on the whole region.
@@bensonmoor9351 we had some wars but i dont see any czechs hating hungarians, its more like neutral. But when we talk about Slovaks and Hungarians, we always support Slovaks. I think you maybe support Polish in their claims and retarded agressions in past.
Yes,...massacring germans who were there for centuries and even helped the Czech against their own german Emperor Sigismund before...something you can really be proud of...
@@PeteL-u1d So Sigismund was not a German but of Luxemburg, Bohemian and Pomeranian (Slavic) descent. And he grew up in Bohemia. He was a much more capable ruler than his brother Wenceslas, but unfortunately he turned the Czechs against him. I don't know what massacre of Germans you are talking about, but all Catholics were massacred without national distinction. Moreover, the local Germans were never considered as those hostile Germans from Saxony etc. And the Germans who were expelled in 1945 were not mostly descendants of those who helped the Hussites, as the Hussites and other Protestants were expelled from Bohemia by the Habsburgs after the lost 30 years war. So 300 years before that. So I don't see why we shouldn't be proud Czechs and why we shouldn't be proud of our ancestors who shed blood for what they believed in.
You are very mistaken. These peasants were soon highly trained and their skills, discipline and spirit were high above the enemy's. The art of quick and simultanious maneuvring of the war wagons during the battle and making appropriate froms with them was legendary and even when the enemy soon started to copy the war wagons, they weren't successful because they lacked the long-time training and strategy ideas.

You get it wrong: Both Radical Hussites and Moderate Hussites were Utraquists. At the decisive battle of Lipany, on 30 May 1434, Moderate (Righ Wing, Reactionary) Hussites beaten Radical (Left Wing) Hussites. It was an equivalent of Thermidorian Coup of 1794 in French Revolution. Battle of Lipany in 1434 effectively ended Hussite wars, but not Hussites. The movement stayed an important force in its moderate form until 1621, arguably making Bohemia as the World's first protestant state. Notes: Utraquist = pod obojí in Czech, sub utraque specie in Latin, in both kinds in English, means receiving both Christ body *and blood*, that is the bread *and wine* at the Eucharist, as was the custom in early church. Hussite means the follower of Jan Hus, a Czech scholar, the most influential utraquist preacher, inspired by teachings of Oxford professor John Wycliffe. His burning as a heretic at Catholic Church, despite being granted a safe conduct by the emperor, sparked the wars. The issue of parishioners being able to get wasted on a church wine every Sunday (jokingly) was of course just one of many issues raised by this movement. Subjectively, more important were efforts to reform the Church: removing excesses of clergy like monks visiting brothels and pubs getting drunk, excessive wealth accumulation orders and top church hierarchy; make church closer to ordinary people, against running parishes like private enterprises just to raise money, abolishing indulgences, engage in self study of bible, preaching in local language, so people can fully understand the whole sermon etc, etc; later also anti-papacy and iconoclasm.
Thanks for this, its beautiful. But, of course, not so complicated as it really was. For example, for all time should be many smaller blue areas in the red Bohemia, because many aristocratic and city domains were catholic. What is really wrong, is that both Austrias (country in south by Moravia and east Bohemia) is all time white, but it must be blue all time since 1420, or latest since 1423. By the way, the pink color will stay until 1620 in all countries of the Czech crown. Since 1620 completelly blue.

+Юлиан Гантман Why are you so offensive ? Also you have wrong information , even the most damaged areas (in Silesia) had max. 70% population decline which not means that they all were killed ,majority of them just left the country.
Theodor Kabíček Left to where?) And what for? @And then during Thirty years war invaders killed 80 %.@ It's a sarcasm. Thirty years war death poll is a fairytail.
I have read that Silesia and parts of Moravia had remained catholics by the end of the war. Did Bohemian moderate hussites, who won the civil war, represent a majority of the population in the whole country, and were there really some counties or subdivisions of the state which remained catholics by the end of the fifth crusade and the civil war ?
Thanks but that does not really answer to the question. Some other countries were like Netherlands were later tolerant of all faith yet remained mostly followers of reformed Protestantism, while Poland had a greater tolerance for Jews and yet remained Catholic. I don't get if the nobility was mostly converted or not, if the population was... I have read some articles which wrote that Bohemia itself there were mostly Hussite followers, while in Silesia Lusatias and Moravia, by the end of the war, Hussite movement (and not only the ultra quits, but also the moderate Hussites) had not taken root
Yes Hussites were more prevalent in Bohemia. Utraquism was main religion in 16-early 17 century, again more in Bohemia and less in other parts. After Battle of White Mountain in 1620 everyone was forced to be catholic or leave and thus Czech Dark Ages begun.
Also Pilsen - the biggest city in Bohemia after Prague - remained catholic, which played a crucial role in the wars, since it served as a base for the Czech Catholics. The Hussites besieged it twice but never managed to take it.
Funny how every video has it wrong with the name Ultraquists. They were not some football Ultras! :) They were UTRAQUISTS. It comes from latin "sub utraque specie", i.e. "to receive under both species", i.e. to receive "consecrated bread AND wine" from a priest during a mess. Roman Church practice was bread for peasants, wine for priests, this was one of 4 Prague Articles - 4 main ideology points of Hussite movement... Imagine that one of your 4 points why you wage war is that you want to receive wine during a mess like the priests do... Remember, ideology was the trigger for this war and "Sub Utraque Specie" was one of it´s main topics...
The map, although topic very nice, is wrong. At least if it comes to Silesia so if 1427' conquest is wrong - everything else may be as well. Czechs invaded Silesia in march 1428 (battle of Nysa) and it was rather REJZA - robbery strike - very succesful. They didn't maintain the territory. Later the same year there was also invasion in december (battle of Altwilmsdorf/Stare Jasenice). Participation of Poland is also wrong, as there was no such. Our knights just participated in war, mostly on hussite site, as mercenaries. Also there was sympathy for Hussites, but such which could not be presented officially.
As someone already pointed out, Pilsen (the biggest city is western Bohemia, Pilsen is actually the German and international name, the Czech name is Plzeň, which is pronounced very similarly to Pilsen) was never captured by the Hussites and it served as the capital of Czech Catholics during the Hussite wars. In fact, the Hussites brought a camel which was given to them as a gift to the siege of Pilsen to show it off. That animal was very exotic and not well known in Europe at the time. The citizens of Pilsen actually sneaked into the Hussite camp one night and stole it away from the Hussites. After the failed siege, Pilsen gifted the camel to Nuremberg - as a gesture of gratitude for the support Nurembergers provided to Pilseners during the siege. Since it remained firmly on the Catholic side, Pilsen was then awarded the right to add a camel to its coat of arms. And in fact it can still be seen in the city's coat of arms today (also on all Pilsner Urquell beer bottles - they all have Pilsen's coat of arms on them).

It is not insignificant that Hussites have been born and led by Prague - the Imperial capital and then third largest city of Europe (after Rome and Constantinople). The Crusades has been not organized by puppet pope but rather by Holy Roman king (later emperor) and king of the Bohemia Zigismund of Luxemburg. His major reason was that his crown lands have rejected his rightful rule since he let the Bohemian celebrity John Huss to be burned at Constance. By the way Zigismund has been first who had stopped the approach of Ottomans into the hearth Of Europe. I like this video but i miss there illustration of Upper Hungary (today Slovakia) which has been partly under control of fortified and unbeaten Hussites until 1436.
+niverious7 For Czechs and possibly also Slovaks, Sigismund will always be a traitorous ginger fox, but objectivelly speaking as a historian, he never did (nor he could have) promise John Hus safety from the Constance council. He promised only safety for the journey from Bohemia to there, but not for the decision of the council. The council was actually in session for a year before and went on for a few more years after the burning of Hus, trying to resolve papal schism. John Hus was just a minor issue for them to solve. It is debatable whether they judged him objectively or not, deciding that they have more pressing things on their hands, but the point is that Sigismund never really betrayed Hus and did not let him burn. FYI I am Czech and it is deeply ingrained in me to hate Sigismund. Since I studied history I try to be more objective to the issue, as you said, he was brilliant monarch, celebrated king of Hungary, much better ruler than his brother, our king Wenceslaus IV who had himself impeached as a Holy Roman king.

Recently I have read this, and completely agree with you! The best book I've read in 2020.
I read them, my dad even helped Sapkowski with archive materials, but the books are bad. Sure, it nicely depicts the era and area, even introduces slavic mythology. But there is no main story, no character to look up to, and he is too influenced by arthus/merlin legend. Much better story set a few years before hussites is presented by Kingdom Come Deliverance (PC game).

I am very happy to hear about the people who are called Hussites because they never gave up the faith on the Lord Jesus Christ. Shalom

Wasn't Jan Hus already dead before this rebellion?
yes 1415 burn at stake ....... 1419 first defenestration of prague........ video up :)
Bohemia op pls nerf paradox
And this giga chad then asked his soldiers to make a drum out of his skin after his death so he could still lead them into battle
Also some fights did not happen beacuse the enemies of hussites were litterally too scared of them and fled the battle so some fights which were 99% supposed to happen didn't happen beacuse the got so fucking scared of them
Jan Žižka was such a unit, i believe he is one of the greatest generals in history and almost the Best european general to ever live maybe he even was the best general in europe ever
The relationship of Czech and Hungary is so damn complicated...
why is that ? I dont think czechs dont like hungarians, well we dont love you as polish people do, but we like you as our ally. I know that slovaks doesnt like u thats all. On the other hand we love slovaks :)
Benson Moor Wow,great!

Nice job !!!!

@And then during Thirty years war invaders killed 80 %.@
It's a sarcasm. Thirty years war death poll is a fairytail.
I have read that Silesia and parts of Moravia had remained catholics by the end of the war. Did Bohemian moderate hussites, who won the civil war, represent a majority of the population in the whole country, and were there really some counties or subdivisions of the state which remained catholics by the end of the fifth crusade and the civil war ?
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religious_peace_of_Kutn%C3%A1_Hora
Ohh nice!

thats hussite war but very nice video
Glory to Diviš Bořek from Miletín. Bohemia was great
The map, although topic very nice, is wrong.
I just thought about how this would have look like in EU4. Right, the hussits would have lost within 1 month

4:27 When you give the Hussites Winged Hussars
